Amber's Realization
My Landlady
“That was...” Taeyeon cut the silence, making the others close their jaw-dropped mouths.
“Intense...” Tiffany finished the girl’s sentence for her.
“Uh-huh.” Victoria agreed, still somehow staring out into space.
“Shocking.” Sooyoung remarked, resuming to munch whatever dessert there is left.
“Yeah... Wow.” Luna mumbled with her pointing finger touching her chin and her brows crunched in thought.
“And we all know how she avoids taking alcoholic drinks; she always passes out in a matter of seconds. Plus her hangover is like total hell.” Sunny added.
“Yeah Sun-sun, she clearly knew that we spat on it right? So weird.”
The others nodded their heads vigorously.
“This just meant she did that on purpose, which is to save Amber.” Yoona concluded.
“Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.” Everyone agreed.
“There’s something going on between those two, isn’t there?” Yoona asked Victoria.
Victoria only responded with a knowing wink, to which the rest mumbled “oooohs” and “aaaaahs” on.
“So, what do we do now?” Jackie asked the group.
“Should we check on Soojungie, umma? I’m worried.” Sulli suggested to Victoria.
“No need Ssul. I’m sure her servant is already taking good care of her.” Luna answered with a noticeable smirk.
“So?” Jackie asked again.
“LET’S DANCE!” Hyoyeon cheerfully blurted out and in an instant scurried towards the sound system.
The speaker boomed inside the hall as the lady occupants danced the night away.

Amber dutifully carried the princess towards her loft. The upper part of the front of her dress, right under her defined shoulder blades, was damp. Some of the liquor obviously failed to go straight to and landed on her outfit instead.
Amber carefully laid Krystal on her King-sized bed. She knew she has to change the princess’ clothes, but she just stood there blankly at the foot of the bed, facing the serene figure of the landlady.
She couldn’t help but let out a faint chuckle. Surely Krystal wasn’t aware that the Appletini she just drank earlier contained the spits of some of her lady boarders, right?
‘This girl just never fails to surprise me. I almost had a heart attack earlier.’ She amusedly thought to herself.
She had indeed been largely taken aback when she saw the younger girl drink the cocktail in one go. She had the impulse to snatch the bowl away from the other’s grip, but she was way too shocked then to even move a finger. But when she witnessed how Krystal passed out in front of everyone, she instantly came to the rescue like her life depended on it.
What has been done, had been done.
Now what has to be done, has to be done.
She rummaged, carefully, as not to wrinkle the seamless pile of clothes, the landlady’s closet for a comfortable set of pajamas. Once she found a cute pair with miniature llama figures on it, she scoffed before plucking it out with utmost care.
‘How hilarious. Yuri wasn’t kidding. The resemblance is uncanny.’ She told herself sarcastically.
Amber approached Krystal’s sleeping figure.
She can do it, can’t she?
Surely Krystal won’t mind. She might get sick if she sleeps wearing wet clothes overnight. That would have been an even greater problem.
So, with as much will and determination she can gather, she gently rolled Krystal to the side so she can the back of her dress.
Once the ping was done, she placed a blanket over Soojung’s body as she rolled down her dress, until it can be pulled off from her ankles with ease.
‘Mission accomplished!’
Well, not really.
The redressing needs to follow.
Another rather serious dilemma, which Amber thought she can accomplish with her eyes blindfolded with her handkerchief.
But even then, she just couldn’t.
Then she realized. She is indeed stupid, just as Krystal numerously coined her to be.
‘Why don’t I wake her up instead so she can get dressed on her own? Aisssh.’
So she removed her silly blindfold and began shaking the girl gently.
“Princess... Wake up. You need to wear this. Princess-“
A grunt in response was heard, and the closed eyes of the said princess opened wide enough to somehow register her surroundings. Her brows were tightly furrowed. Her right hand shot up to massage her aching head.
“Amb- Amber? God my head hurtsss.”
Her voice is deep and hoarse, way past normal.
Krystal mustered all her strength to sit up. She used her elbows for support but it was Amber’s arm which is encircled around her upper back that really pulled her up to a sitting position effortlessly. Their faces were brought a good inch close, too close that Amber immediately backed away and shut her eyes firmly, since the blanket had fallen down the princess’ waist.
“It’s hot.”
Amber’s face went beet-red. With her face now facing the opposite direction, she sought her ability to speak.
“Uh... Should I...Uh, switch the air conditioner on?” She mentally facepalmed herself for the awkward stuttering and her rather squeaky voice.
“Please do.”
Amber instantly dashed forward to turn the device on. The temperature of the room eventually went down.
“Thanks, Amber.”
Krystal was still sitting up, but had the blanket strewn around her upper half this time. Amber let out a sigh of relief.
“Amber, come here.” Krystal groggily beckoned.
Amber immediately obeyed. Drunk Krystal seems to prefer calling her by her first name, which somehow makes her feel really happy.
Now she’s sitting beside the princess, while gently tucking some stray hair strands behind Krystal’s ears. Krystal smiled in return--- the smile her most adorable one yet.
“Thank you, Amber.” It was a small whisper but it is as audible as the pounding of Amber’s heart inside her chest.
“Uhm... You’re welcome, Krystal. I should be the one thanking you, you know.” Amber sincerely replied.
“It actually sounds nice... *hiccup*.... Hearing you... say my name.” Krystal woozily mumbled.
‘It seems the drunk version of this ice princess is in fact, warm and not really icy at all.’ Amber thought to herself.
“Uh, Krys. You should wear this.” Amber told the girl, as she remembered the landlady is wearing close to nothing underneath the cover.
“You’re *hiccup* so cute.”
Amber is blushing like there’s no tomorrow.
“Haha. ‘Course I am! Uhm. Krys. Wear this.” She handed the llama pajamas to the drunk girl.
But Krystal only shook her head and weakly flung it away.
“Nooooo. Too weak. S’okay.”
“Alright. But you need to keep yourself covered with the blanket okay? I don’t want you to catch a cold or something.”
“Haha*hiccup*haha. Jeesh. Arraso.”
“O-kay so. Goodnight then, Krystal.”
Amber was about to stand when Krystal leaned forward and planted a swift peck on Amber’s cheek.
“Goodnight, Am.”
Amber froze on the spot. The affected area on her left cheek felt warm and tingling; and she’s feeling fuzzy and very, VERY close-to-fainting all of a sudden.
Krystal had already plunged back to the comfy bed, and was already lightly snoring.
It took a few unblinking seconds before Amber’s mannequin state ended. She has a big dorky smile on. Her face is still a reddish hue but she couldn’t care less.
She gently repositioned Krystal’s muddled blanket before leaning down to kiss the princess on her forehead.
A realization hit her, as she took one last glance at the sleeping beauty before she flopped on the living room couch.
She might not be so straight after all.
‘I think I like Krystal. Oh my God.’ She face-palmed herself.
She shouldn’t jeopardize their growing friendship, though. It’s a hopeless case.
‘Forget it, Amber. She’ll never like you back. She’ll only be disgusted with you.’
That thought filled her mind as she drifted to oblivion.
