prompt: Imagine your OTP going for a walk and suddenly Person A’s ex/special friend strikes a conversation with them. Person B is jealous and stays quiet most of the time. Person A notices this and kindly tells ex/special friend they have to go. Person A then kisses Person B lovingly and tell them that they’re the best thing that happened (or something like that).
pairing: gongstal
soojung feels all sorts of insecure, even when people she shouldn’t be. but somehow, even if a person possesses the prettiest hair, or the prettiest eyes, or the prettiest something, insecurities will always be part of them. it’s like a part of the body, not essential, but one can’t live without it. somehow, insecurities are fair warnings of imperfections, of being human.
and soojung has every right to feel that way, like every other person in this world.
the insecurities come rushing like a huge waterfall on monday afternoon as she and gongchan stroll around the park, hand in hand. her name is suzy, and she appears with pearly white teeth, perfect smile, long, glossy hair and, perhaps, the body of a goddess. she’s every bit of perfection, of beauty, and it’s hard not to feel insecure.
suzy introduces herself as a friend, but gongchan insists to let soojung know suzy’s his ex-girlfriend. it takes soojung her every face muscle not to scowl.
before soojung can blink, suzy and gongchan are already engaged in a casual conversation, asking how each other was ever since the break up and what they’ve been up to. the world has suddenly gone small and tight that soojung feels the tightness in .
of course, i can’t cry, she stays quiet while she battles her own psychological warfare inside her head. even though she feels insecure and alone and left out, there’s nothing she can do but stand on the side like a bloody moron. what is she supposed to do anyway, just interrupt their conversation? soojung knows nothing about suzy.
minutes later—soojung likes to point them out as the most dreadful minutes in her entire life—suzy finally bids her farewell with a wave and a smile that can hardly be forgotten. all of a sudden, soojung is curious why gongchan broke up with her when she’s perfectly… faultless.
silence engulfs them for almost a minute, resuming their walk, until soojung decides to break the ice first.
“she’s really pretty,” soojung hopes the insecurity in her tone goes unnoticed. “was she the one you dated before me?”
gongchan nods; she sighs, but frowns because it did remain unnoticed while she silently wishes it didn’t.
“why did you break up with her?” it comes out all of a sudden, and even she’s surprised.
“some things are just not meant to last, i guess.”
“she’s really pretty.”
“yeah, she was.”
“hmm.” it’s her insecurities talking, and they’re piling up like papers.
“i know what you’re thinking, soojung,” gongchan chuckles quietly, and he stops walking. she does, too. he places both of his hands on her shoulders and turns her so she’s facing him. “suzy and i are over. she’s pretty, yes, but she wasn’t for me.”
“i know,” soojung forces a smile.
“you do?”
she nods.
“then you don’t have to feel insecure,” he tells her, pulling her so he can embrace him. he buries his nose in her hair, taking in the smell of her. “you’re the only one i love, soojung. and i pray we’ll last for a really long time.”
