“not yet.”

chanyeol sighs wearily, but his level of anxiety is still at its peak. they’ve been going at it since they woke up, after the two of them started to analyze soojung’s strange behavior for the past few days. she was always moody, or sometimes tired even if she hasn’t done enough for one day than the usual. one time, she also fainted while cooking chanyeol breakfast; good thing he was there.

there was that one time, too, when both chanyeol and soojung were on their way home after a date, he suddenly mentioned how her s were bigger these days. the people surrounding them were surprised, of course, because who would mention that in public, only chanyeol would.




“soojung-ah?”

“wait, i’m waiting for the third one.”

“what do you mean ‘third one’?” his eyes are wide. “you mean we’re having three kids?”

no, chanyeol isn’t dumb. his knowledge hits the bottom when he’s nervous and panicking.

just then, soojung comes out with three pregnancy test kits in her hand and throws herself to him. her expressions seems bright, like she bears good news, and even so, chanyeol is still wondering whether it meant he’s going to be a daddy or not. with her, everything seems unpredictable.

wrapping her legs around him securely, she suddenly laughs and squeals and shrieks so loud it can probably awaken the neighbors. chanyeol holds her in his arms tight, making sure she doesn’t fall, as he waits for the news, his eyes wide and curious.

“you’re going to be a daddy!” she announces, laughing.

the most reaction chanyeol will likely make—and soojung also expects—is to laugh and grin and say i’m gonna be the best daddy in the world, or perhaps, a more enthusiastic reaction. much to her surprise, he suddenly turns quiet, his face unreadable, and for once, she feels scared. what if chanyeol doesn’t want to have a kid?

“chanyeol?”

he puts her down quietly, his eyebrows furrowed, while she stares at him hopefully.

all of a sudden, he bursts into tears, earning a flabbergasted look from soojung, because she’s never really seen him cry—except those times when they almost broke up or when they actually did. his sobs are incontrollable, like a kid whose favorite lollipop was stolen. if any of the neighbors see them right now, they will think they’re engaged in a huge fight and that soojung has won.

“channie?” her voice is soft and soothing; if he doesn’t want to have his kid, perhaps, soojung won’t, too. she places her hand on his left cheek and looks up at him.

“i’m just-” another sob “-happy-” another sob “-because i-i finally get to become a father.”

upon hearing that, soojung can’t help herself but also cry. there are things she doesn’t deserve to have, people who give her love that she can’t pay back, for example, chanyeol’s extremely pure heart. she realizes that she’s the luckiest girl in the world for having him, despite his occasional lack of sense or knowledge or irrelevant reactions in the wrong time.

so she laughs instead, because chanyeol is stupid and kind and adorable. she laughs through her tears because he’s crying like a kid and wiping his snot unappealingly with the back of his hand. pulling him towards her, she snakes her hands around his waist and rubs his back calmingly.

“chanyeol, you stupid giant. stop crying or else the baby will cry, too.”
