Sehun: The Benson Mansion

These Men of Mine

Sehun settled in the school just fine and he made friends with Kai and Chen rather quickly. He didn’t realize there were more boys to the bunch. Tao, Baekhyun, Lay, Kyungsoo and Luhan were a part of the bunch. They were a rowdy bunch but he didn’t mind.

“Sehun over here!” yelled Chen in the cafeteria

Krystal stopped walking as she watched Sehun join the boys. She sighed because she wanted to eat lunch with her cousin.

“Krystal what are you doing?” yelled Luna, “Come on,”

Sehun turned to where his younger cousin was and smiled at her as she made eye contact with him. He knew just by looking at her that she wanted to eat with him so he went over to her quickly.

“Don’t look so sad. Come eat lunch with us. We have enough space,” he looked at Luna as she blushed, “Hey,”

“Hey,” Luna said

“You’ve become popular so fast. Are you sure you want us sitting with you. Don’t pity me,” she smiled

“Please I can see your pouty face from way over there. Come on,” Sehun picked up Krystal’s tray and led her to the table with the guys

Luna and Krystal sat down with the boys staring hard at their lunches. Krystal bit her lip as she nervously tucked her hair behind her ear. Kai chuckled as he stared at her.

“So Sehun I hear you’ve made an enemy already,” said Luhan

Krystal looked at Sehun so fast she gave Luna whiplash.

“Great now look at what you’ve done. You’ve made her worry. Don’t worry about me,”

“Too late. Who is it?” she asked

“Kris Wu. Man he was pissed today,” said Kai

“Why? My brother is best friends with him. He seems like an ok guy,” said Luna

“Seems? He looked like he was going to burst a vein in his neck,” chuckled Chen

“What’s wrong?” asked Krystal

“He was warning me to get out of the Benson Mansion. He said the place is haunted,”

“That’s because it is,” said Kai as he took a bite of Krystal’s fruit

“He said his Dad knew the family,” said Sehun

“That’s right. His uncle knew them too. Apparently Kris’ Dad was their mortgage lender. He gave them a large sum of money but they couldn’t pay him back so he took the house from them. It was actually a gradual process; them losing the house. Kris’ uncle also played a part in it,” said Luna

“Whoa how do you know all of that?” asked an impressive Chen

“My aunt works at the Historical Museum of Seattle. The Benson Mansion was in the Benson family for a long time and was a landmark as well,”

“So how was Kris’ Uncle involved?” asked Sehun

“Apparently they were lovers; Aileen and Jacob Wu,”

“What?” everyone at the table said giving Luna a jolt

“Really guys? Anyways Aileen was 16 at the time of her death and Jacob was at least 5 years older. Sad story though, they never found her body,”

“Wait what?” this information caught Sehun’s attention, “So the rumors are true. She could be in that house right now. Her body could be in my house,”

“Whoa taking ownership for that place already?” asked Krystal

Sehun gave his cousin a look, “Listen you would think my Dad would have looked into this before he bought the place,”

“Her body is most likely not in the house. You probably would have smelled her decaying body by now,” said Luna

“Luna has a point. Maybe she haunts the place because it was her family’s home and the last place she lived in,” said Chen

“There is no such thing as ghost. How many times do I have to tell you,” said Krystal

“Either way it’s not going to break your business. Do you know how many people love this kind of thing? I want to pack my stuff now. Let me know when it opens,” said an excited Kai

“Shut up Kai, omg,” she eyed him as he smirked and continued to eat her fruit, “Stop eating my fruit,” she whacked him as he laughed

Sehun shook his head as he turned to Luna, “So what happened after her murder?”

“Well her family left of course. I think they moved to Arizona or somewhere,"

“And Kris’ Dad; what about him?”

“Well the media made it hard for it to sell. No one wanted anything to do with that house especially with the rumors of it being haunted and plus she may have been murdered in that house. He tried to make it work but he lost so much revenue, he gave up,”

“All that work to kick them out and he couldn’t even keep the house,”

“Yeah it’s greed that’s what it is and it’s so sad that that poor girl was murder. I mean the Benson family had that mansion a long time,”

“Do you think he had anything to do with the murder?”

“Whoa Sehun really? Watch what you say around here? Plus that would be a bit extreme; don’t you think?” asked Baekhyun

“I mean if he wanted it so badly…”

“I don’t think so,” said Baekhyun

“I wonder why how my Dad got it so cheap?”

“Well it has been 22 years since her death so the hype of her murder has gone down and Mr. Wu lost interest in that place. Maybe you guys can turn it into a museum/ bed and breakfast,” said Krystal

“With a touch of a haunted tour. That would definitely get tourist,” said Kai

The day went on uneventful but Sehun couldn’t stop thinking about Aileen and her family. She was only 16 when she was killed. She was Krystal’s age. He didn’t know what he would do if that were Krystal.

That was his home now and he didn’t feel ownership. He had to protect it at all cost.

“How was school?”

“Very interesting. Dad do you know the history of this house?”

Yun Suk smiled at his son, “Yes I do. Do I believe in ghost? No I don’t and I don’t want you to get wrapped up in it either,”

“You sound like Krystal. No wonder she’s your niece,”

“My sister warned me about this place and how the people of this city would get all hype about us moving here but that was so long ago…”

“So you’re not worried? I was threatened today to leave this place. The guy said if we were smart, we would leave this place,”

“What’s his name?”

“Kris Wu,”

“And my sister warned me about the Wu family too. Son I have everything under control. No one is going to drive us out of our home. No one and no ghost,” he finished his meal as Sehun slightly frowned at his Dad

“Well when your mind is made up…”

“It’s made up. Finish your dinner,”

Sehun knew his Dad wouldn’t budge. He knew that but he was hoping he would feel a little anxiety with knowing about the history of this place. Sehun sighed as he sat on his bed. He didn’t want to think about this anymore. He decided to take a shower.

Aileen was hiding behind the door. He knew about her now. What was she to do? How would she approach him? How would he act when he saw her? Then she thought to herself. Would he be able to see her? She looked out to the hallway as she looked at him walking to the bathroom. Only one way to find out.

Sehun was tense; this was true. A nice hot shower would do the trick. He peeled off his clothes and started the shower. He sighed as he closed his eyes and ran his hands through his hair. When the water was just right, he climbed in.

Aileen had walked through the closed door and through the shower curtain. She gasped as she saw what laid wait to her. She was definitely intrigued. She had only seen one man in her life and that was by accident. Sehun was different and this was an entirely different situation. She was dead and he was not. She did however feel a little bad invading his privacy like this but it was a huge shower and he wouldn’t know she was in there or would he.

“Sehun,” she said his name

Sehun opened his eyes as the soap slowly ran down his face. He didn’t turn around; he only listened. Listened for what? He didn’t quite know. His breathing sped up as he his lips

“Sehun,” he heard it again

“Hello,” he felt stupid doing this but he knew it wasn’t his Dad calling his name

“Are you not frightened?”

Sehun’s mind was blown. Any normal person would run for their lives but for some reason he wanted to confront this voice. He slowly turned around but saw nothing.

“Hello. Is anyone there?”

“Are you really not frightened?”

“No I’m not but…um…I can’t see anything. I can only hear you,”

“So you believe you’re not dreaming. You believed in me last night?”

“Was that you in my room? Were you watching over me?”

“Yes,” she smiled, “That was me and actually you are in my room,”

Sehun chuckled, “Cool. Wait can you see me?” he started to blush

“I’m sorry I looked. I’m fascinated by you,”

“Really? I’m just plain old Sehun,”

“For some reason you feel so much more,”

“Where are you?”

“In the shower with you,” he laughed

“Show yourself. I’m sure you look nothing like Hollywood ghosts look like,”

“So you believe in me? You can only see me if you believe in me,”

“I believe in you,”

Sehun was surprised to see this young looking figure appearing in front of him. He gasped as he saw Aileen for the first time. He had never seen a photo of her but she was prettiest girl he had ever seen. Then it dawn on him that someone murdered her. Who would murder this beautiful creature?

“Do I look like what you have imaged?” she took a step forward

“I have never seen a picture of you but you look…you look…” his eyes never left hers as she reached up a touched his cheek, “I feel you,” she smiled

“But I can’t feel you. I’m dead and I’ll never be about to feel human flesh again,” she frowned slightly

“I’m so sorry,”

“There was nothing you could have done Sehun. Please don’t become distressed,”

“But your killer is living his life while you rot in this place alone,”

“This place is my home,”

“But you’re alone,”

“Not anymore,” she smiled

Sehun finally put a towel around his waist not realizing he had been in front of her for about 10 minutes. Aileen didn’t even notice as she continued to stare at his face only.

“I won’t leave you. Not until you need me to,” he said as he tried to touch her shoulders till he realized he couldn’t. He shook his head and laughed, “This is going to take some time to get used to,”

“Rule number 1: I won’t come in while you shower…unless you want me to,” she chuckled as he laughed

“Fair enough. Rule number 2: No secrets,”

“Why do you say that?”

“I’m assuming you want me to find your killer. I need to know everything in order to help you. You may want to protect someone you love but you have to tell me everything,”

“Fair enough. I’ve been living in this house by myself for so long; I’m so tired,” Sehun felt really bad for her then, “And rule number 3: You must never leave this place,” Sehun furrowed his brows, “This house was my house for so long. I grew up here, I played here, I worked here and I died here. You must not let our house go into the wrong hands,” she was very serious about that
