Chapter 8

A Dream Come True

The minute I boarded the plane, I realized that I had gotten business class tickets. I double and triple checked my seat number just to be sure that I didn’t take someone else’s seat.

When I was convinced that, yes, this was actually my seat, I placed my bag in the hat rack before I sat down in my seat with my purse between my feet. I looked around me in awe and realized how much space it was and how beautiful everything was, much different from what I was used to. The plane slowly filled up with a lot of people, most of them were Chinese, which was only natural as the plane was going to fly to Beijing first.

I luckily had the window seat, which was in my opinion the best seat you could possibly have, because then you could look at the earth from another view and admire the beautiful landscapes underneath you. That was definitely my favorite thing about flying. While I sat there looking out at the airport, waiting for takeoff, a girl came and sat her purse down in the seat beside me.

I turned to her with a smile and said “Hi.” She smiled and nodded back at me before placing her stuff in the hat rack just like what I had done with my stuff a few minutes ago. She sat down in her seat and started to search around in her purse after something. She looked like she was around my age, give or take a few years. She was pretty, but not model-gorgeous; she was more of a natural beauty, with long black hair and sharp features. I felt a little envious at her, but my mind quickly went elsewhere when I saw that the ‘Fasten seatbelt’-light was flashing. I fastened it, and finally the plane started moving. I looked out the window, watching as we went faster and faster by, until we finally took up and headed toward the sky.

After a while, the plane had reached its destined height and we were allowed to take off our seat belts again. I took off my seat belt so I could sit more comfortable. Not that it was wasn’t comfy enough from before, but when I had the chance to feel like I sat in my own chair home I had to take it.

I looked around me once more. I felt really impressed by what I saw, seeing as I only had flown with economy class before. It was a huge place where you could stretch out as much as you wanted, and there was a small TV-monitor fastened in the seats, where you could watch whatever movie you wanted. I played around with it for a bit, until I heard someone laughing behind me.

I turned around, and looked at my seatmate. “Sorry,” she said in an accented English, “I don’t mean to laugh, you just look very eager to be here. Have you never traveled on business class?” she asked, curiosity in her voice. I simply smiled, and shook my head. “Nope,” I replied, laughing a bit myself. “I’ve only travelled with economy class. This is so much better!” I almost felt like jumping up and down in my seat in glee, but decided that it might not give a very good first impression if I suddenly would start jumping around.

“What have you been doing in Norway?” I asked her and leaned back in my seat. “I have been a transfer student there for year,” she said and smiled. I looked at her in surprise. “You did?!” She laughed at me, and nodded. “Yeah! It was very exciting, though the language is a bit difficult to learn..” she added, looking a bit apologetic.

“I know, right! It’s difficult even for us native people,” I said, nodding while doing so. She laughed again. We continued talking about the language for a while, and comparing Chinese and Norwegian to each other and laughing at the obvious differences in our languages. Not to mention our cultures.

Despite all that, we realized we had a lot in common. We both loved K-pop, and we loved writing and being creative. It was very easy talking with her, and the conversation was flowing easily.

After a while I realized something, though. “Hey, I don’t know your name!” I said dumbly. She looked at me with a stupid look, and we both bursted out laughing at the same time. “You can call me Mei-Xing,” she said, still laughing. “What about you?” “Christine”, I replied, giving her my hand to greet properly. She took my hand and shook it. The conversation went on and on about all and nothing, and in between numerous powernaps and eating okay airplane food, twelve hours had passed, and the plane went in for landing at Beijing Capital International Airport.

Mei-Xing and I got really close on the long flight from Norway to China, and we promised to keep in touch through Facebook when we got home. We put back our chairs in the upright position and packed all the stuff spread around us back in their rightful places. We fastened our seat belts when we saw the light blink, and I felt excitement bubbling up in my stomach.

It was actually kind of sad that we had to part. We had so much in common and went along very well, but we still had Facebook to keep in touch a little. “You still remember my last name, right?” Mei-Xing asked me for the umpteenth time. I nodded as an answer and smiled at her, hoping that she would remember mine if I forgot hers, which, knowing me, I probably would.

The plane finally touched the ground and slowed down before it stopped by the gate that we were to off on. Mei-Xing and I went together all the way to where the signs ‘transit’ and ‘arrival’ pointed in different directions. We gave each other a brief hug and said goodbye before parting ways. The problem now was to find out which gate I should go to.

I walked down the corridor when I spotted a tablet where all the transit gates were listed. I quickly spotted Seoul which had the gate number 13. All the way to gate 13 was visibly marked so I didn’t get lost. I looked at my boarding card, and realized that there were still a couple of hours left until takeoff, so I had a lot of waiting ahead of me.

I sat there, on a bench together with a lot of strangers around me, waiting to be allowed to board the plane. I looked out to check if they were finished with their tanking and all the other stuff they had to do when I spotted a bunch of people going up the stairs on the outside of the boarding bridge.

Why did those people get allowance to board before everyone else? That was just unfair. I followed them with my eyes all the way until they were inside the plane and out of my sight. A few minutes after those people had boarded the plane the man in the counter said that we now could start boarding the plane. I still wondered why they got to board the plane before everyone else while I walked through the bridge on my way to the door.

I found out that I still had business class tickets when I came into the cabin and checked my ticket for my placing. I didn’t have the window seat this time, but when I got to my seat and saw who the person sitting there was, I didn’t complain anymore. I freaked out in my mind again, but kept my appearance calm and normal while I put my bag in the hat rack. I sat down and took a deep breath to clam myself down more.

First the train and now the plane. I’m totally freaking out now. ‘Calm down Christine, calm down,’ I thought to myself and took one more deep breath. It always worked to calm down like that. The person beside me turned around to face me when he heard me fasten my seat belt and gave me the cutest smile ever. “Hi, I’m Luhan,” he said (in a bit broken English) and gave me an even brighter smile. I smiled back. OMG! It’s freaking Luhan from EXO! “Hi, Christine here,” I said as calmly as I possibly could. Guess he thought I didn’t know him, or that I was about to pass out. B r e a t h e.

I just looked at him with a big smile for a few seconds, but managed to get myself out of my daze and looked forward instead. Then something hit me. If Luhan was here, the rest of EXO had to be here too, right? I looked around the cabin and saw all the familiar faces of EXO-M sitting together on the other way of the aisle. ‘This is kind of déjà vu. Almost the same thing happened on the train. The only difference was that this was EXO-M on a plane, not 2PM on a train,’ I thought to myself and leaned back in my seat to relax.

I closed my eyes for a moment when I felt someone nudging me. I opened my eyes and looked straight into puppy doe Luhan’s eyes. I was a little shocked at first since I had almost forgotten that it was him that sat beside me. “You have to fasten your seat belt,” he said with his cute smile that made him so perfect still on his face. I shook my head to wake up from my daydreaming and fastened my seat belt.

“So~, do you like K-pop or C-pop?” Luhan suddenly asked me. I didn’t know what to answer. What if he thought I was a crazy fan or got disappointed if I said I didn’t like it or something? Guess I just had to tell the truth, since that was who I was. “I’m really into K-pop,” I said and his smile got even brighter. “Do you know about EXO?” he asked eagerly.

Guess the others had realized that Luhan was talking to a stranger by now, because I felt everyones eyes were on me. “Um.. Yeah,”  I said a bit hesitant and nodded. I was still calm on the outside, but my mind kept freaking out over and over each time I looked him in the eyes. “Then I guess you know who I am? And him, him, him, him and him too?” he asked and pointed at each of the members. He seemed very eager, almost like a child. How cute! I nodded. “Yes,” I said and smiled happily. It looked like he got super happy by my agreement since he started bouncing in his seat. At that moment I just couldn’t hold it. I just had to laugh. He was too cute for words.

This time the flight didn’t last long, but it was long enough to get to know them. At least talk with them and see how they acted when there werem’t any cameras around. All of them were really kind to me, but some of them weren’t as out-going as Luhan, so I didn’t get to know everyone equally well. We talked about K-pop and who they thought had the best voices and songs and stuff when I remembered why I was on this plane.

I had been so distracted by new people everywhere that I almost forgot that I was going to film a CF with 2PM in a day. As if he read my mind, Kris asked me where I was going and what my occasion was. “I’m going to film a CF with 2PM tomorrow,” I said with a pleased smile. He gave me a look that told me that he didn’t believe me. “It’s true. Suzy wasn’t going to do it anyway and Nichkhun said that I could do it instead,” I explained, but he still didn’t believe me. I sighed and felt like a kid that no one believed.

“Are you really serious?” Luhan asked. I nodded back at him as an answer. “It’s a long story how I got to know them, but I’m talking the truth. I never lie,” I said seriously. It looked like Kris believed it a little, but he was sceptical. I understand that he was a bit sceptic though... I certainly would not believe it if a random girl was saying to me that she was going to film a CF with 2PM. Ha!

We landed in Seoul and I my phone so I could call Nichkhun to ask him if he was there. He had promised me to come and pick me up since I most likely would’ve gotten lost on the airport and never made it anywhere. The call wasn’t only to ask Nichkhun though, but also to prove Kris that I was talking the truth earlier. “Hi Khun! Where are you?” I asked as I looked at Kris’ face to see his reaction. Everyone was quiet so they could hear Nichkhun’s voice even though I didn’t put my phone on loud speaker. “Hi Cissie! I’m by the baggage belt. Did you just land?” he said and I saw Kris’ face was a little shocked. I chuckled and continued talking to Nichkhun.

We decided that I would meet him by the baggage belt so that we didn’t have to go looking for each other. We said our goodbyes and hung up. I turned to the EXO members while I put my phone back into my purse, which was more like a bag. “I have to go now. Looking forward to your comeback,” I said with a big smile. They looked pretty surprised and couldn’t get out a word, but they still looked good though. Well, apart from Luhan; he waved goodbye and wished me good luck. I smiled and nodded, before I took down the bag I had put in the hat rack and waved at them before I went out of the plane. I went to the baggage belt to get my suitcase before I started to look for Nichkhun, but when I had been standing there for what seemed like an eternity without finding my suitcase I felt someone poke my shoulder. “Is this the one you’re looking for,” I heard I familiar voice say behind me.
