NARRATOR

You shot Baekhyun and Chunji troubled glances while L.joe waited for an answer.

“Uh, well, she’s…” You started, formulating an explanation on your mind. But you were still too stunned with what happened.

“Memory loss.” Baekhyun muttered silently beside you.

“She’s no one.” Chunji finished, wearing his usual smile. He looked you, then at Butler Shim. You got the message instantly and invited Butler Shim outside to talk.

As soon as you two were out of L.joe’s earshot, the explanations started.

“Young Miss, I was too nervous. But the collision, as what the doctor said, caused him Retrograde Amnesia. His memories closer to the time of the collision….”

“Are all a blur to him.” You finished, absorbing everything you just learned since you got off the plane.

Butler Shim reluctantly waved his hands. “Memories that caused him pain before the accident, particularly.”

“So Yura…” You mumbled to yourself as Butler Shim excused himself and went back to attending L.joe.

The door closed behind you and Baekhyun gave you a slight smile. “L.joe’s bombarding Chunji with questions, you know.”

You chuckled a bit even at the thought. “I suppose, Chunji’s… answering all lies.”

“You got it.” Baekhyun winked. Even in midst of all the happenings, Baekhyun can still make your heart do the flipping thing inside.

He gently intertwined his fingers with yours and pulled you closer. “You know….” He muttered, his breath hot on your forehead. Baekhyun slightly smirked. “L.joe thinks were just friends. He thinks I’m just one of your Oppas.”

You chuckled nervously. Baekhyun’s closeness was nice, and it was turning you into a stupid love monster. “Well, better break the ice to him…” You fibbed.

Both of you entered the room once again, hand in hand.

Kris ran his fingers through his hair, frustrated.

“Yura left her apartment.” He hissed, his foot pressed hard on the floor. Tao slumped on the couch, pouting. “I didn’t think this was all gonna greet me when I come here.”

Lay nodded. “Too much drama.”

Kris glared at them both. No one can ever be calm after getting Kris’ glare. To sum it up, they both shut up.

“I baked cookies!” D.O tried to lighten the mood with a big grin plastered on his face.

Nevertheles, the guys did not notice the grin, they noticed the food.

Sehun, Tao, Lay, Luhan and xiumin dashed towards D.O. and stuffed themselves.

“We need some rest too.” Suho sighed, placing a comforting hand at Kris’ shoulder. Kris stayed unmoving. He was still deep in thought.

Slowly, each one of them departed the living room. Some went off to their rooms, some were still stuffing themselves in the kitchen, bickering as usual.

“I want the cookie with a smiley!” Tao’s voice can be heard. Then a thumping sound followed.

“I’m still the maknae, you Wushu panda! I get the smiley!” Sehun roared back. Suho’s voice can be heard scolding them both after that.

Kris sighed in his seat. Alone, he stretched his hands and gently leaned on the couch, massaging his temples.

*I just hope she won’t cause any more trouble.* He thought, letting fatigue take over his body.

“You’re together?!” L.joe’s eyes rounded with surprise as his hoarse voice boomed. Chunji flinched a little. Baekhyun tightened his grip on your hand. You maintained your façade.

“Yes Oppa.”

It was still too much to take in for L.joe. Confusion was ruling his head, and he hated it.

“Can someone explain why I’m in a hospital bed, without any memory of my best friend coming here to Korea, and my other best friend already in love with someone? I don't even know anything anymore, damn it!” His brows furrowed, and it was evident on his face that he was on the verge of losing himself.

Chunji stood up and exhaled. “I don’t think we should break it to you now, Byung. Try to sleep, and when you—“

“Stop it. Lee Chanhee. I want explanations. Now.” L.joe snarled. The room’s atmosphere turned heavy, and Butler shim fiddled with his fingers at the corner.

You knew well that when L.joe would lose his cool, you could calm him pretty much. Chunji at comforting Byunghyun. They always end up fighting instead.

“Oppa.” You approached his bed, the back of his hand. He rolled his eyes in response and snickered. "Don't 'oppa' me, missy."

Instead of reacting, you kept your cool. “Ya, don’t be too harsh on us. Your temper issues, mister.”

Chunji chuckled bitterly. “Byunhyun and his temper issues.” He muttered, low enough for only you to hear.

L.joe didn’t respond. Instead, he clenched his jaw and looked away.

“Byunhyun Oppa, I know it’s confusing, but you’re not yet recovered. Telling you everything now may complicate things. Just… wait till morning. Ara?”

He looked at you with a glum look on his face. “I… just want to sleep.”

BAEKHYUN

I never thought it would all come to this. I feel guilty for a reason. If I didn’t bring Yura to their lives, nothing of these would’ve happened. Especially now, L.joe’s in a hospital bed.

I feel really bad. Really bad.

But I have to look okay, to look strong. I know this is all too much to take in for Minhee, and she needs strength right now.

She needs someone by her side.

Minhee smiled as she left L.joe’s room. I was about to lead her out and bring her home, but she suddenly wrapped her arms around me and buried her face on my chest.

“Hee…” I whispered, baffled.

She didn’t move. “Oppa, thank you. For being here.”

I felt myself smile and pulle her closer to me, leaving no more space between us. “I will always be. You know that.”

*I just hope no one tries to break us apart again, Hee. I’ll protect you, I’ll protect US.*
