Chapter 24: Revelation

Kwangmin was immediately sent to the nearby hospital. Yoon Mi was trembling. "What happened? Why did he collapse?" Yoon Mi asked herself as tears started swelling up her eyes. "I'm so sorry..." she whispered and looked at the ground. Yoon Mi sighed for the nth time that hour when the emergency room doors have not opened since Kwangmin was sent there. Yoon Mi fished Kwangmin's phone out of her pocket. "I should call someone to let them know about Kwangmin-oppa's condition," Yoon Mi told herself and was about to dial Youngmin's number when someone called her attention.
"Yah Choi Yoon Mi-ah!" a familiar voice said. Yoon Mi turned to the source and spotted Minwoo, Kwangmin's best friend, walking towards her.
"Minwoo..." Yoon Mi uttered and looked away. 'He is going to get mad.'
"What are you doing here? Are you that sick that you have to go to the hospital? Are you okay?" Minwoo asked worriedly.
"No..." Yoon Mi whispered and shook her head.
"Eh? What are you doing here then? Are you—"
"Excuse me but are you the friends of Mr. Jo Kwangmin?" a doctor asked, stepping out of the emergency room. Minwoo and Yoon Mi nodded at the same time.
"What happened?" Minwoo asked.
"Oh, Mr. No?" the doctor asked when she recognized Minwoo.
"Yeah," Minwoo answered.
"May I talk to you for a while?" the doctor asked and Minwoo just nodded and followed the doctor to her office, leaving Yoon Mi behind.
The doctor sighed before sitting down and signaled for Minwoo to sit too. "How is he?" Minwoo asked worriedly. "Why was he brought here? Is he alright? Did something bad happen to him?"
"I'm going to tell you this because I know that you're the only one who knows about his sickness," the doctor started and shook her head again. "He...he's gotten worse."
"What do you mean he's gotten 'worse'?" Minwoo asked, standing up at the sudden news. He sat down again when the doctor signaled him to sit down.
"It seems like he hasn't been taking care of himself recently. His myocardium has been deteriorated badly. Even worse actually. He lacked breath because his heart muscle was too constricted that's why blood couldn't flow properly in his body, making him lose oxygen from his brain; as a result he collapsed. Has he been very stressed lately?" the doctor asked worriedly.
"He's been preparing a big surprise for someone. The event is in two months time but he's making it extra special for her," Minwoo replied.
"Well didn't I advise you to take care of him? He shouldn't be too tired and stressed," the doctor said in disappointment.
"Isn't there anything we can do, doc? There should be a solution to this! Didn't you say last time that he was just in stage two and it's still curable? Isn't his sickness still in stage two?" Minwoo asked, tears starting to fill up his eyes. The doctor shook her head and sighed again.
"Like I've said earlier, he's gotten worse. Cardiomyopathy is hard to cure at this stage; at Kwangmin's stage right now. Didn't his grandfather die of this too? I know I shouldn't be saying this right now but...he...he... Jo Kwangmin only has a few weeks to live," the doctor said as-a-matter-of-fact.
"What!?" Minwoo said and stood up. But it wasn't only Minwoo's voice that was heard. He and the doctor turned to the source to see Yoon Mi standing by the door.
"You shouldn't be in here..." the doctor uttered. 'No one else should know about Kwangmin's condition but Minwoo.'
"Kwangmin...he's dying?" Yoon Mi asked, shocked.
