Chapter 11

[No one’s POV]

Her eyes was locked on his, full of curiousity and wonderment; while his were filled with amusment and too, wonderment. Hyoyeon what his words had meant, while Eunhyuk wondered about the reaction of the lady in front of him if she found out the meaning of his words.

“Remember a note saying ‘Who would want to reject a pretty girl?’? Remember the plate of pancakes? And, remember the black leather jacket you borrowed from me?” Eunhyuk said, reliving Hyoyeon’s memory.

The lady’s eyes widened with shock and understanding as she finally came to realization. The realization that the man standing in front of her, the man she once detested so much, the man who was her boss, the man who had gave her tons of assignments on pointless stuff.

The man who was her savior.

She was beyond the point of stunned. She couldn’t believe that the person, the very one who had saved her from being by those beasts, was actually him, Lee Hyuk Jae. She wanted to speak, to confirm those words that had just come out of his lips. She wanted to say a million and thousand things, but she was rooted.

Rooted to the fact of how fated they were.

Rooted to the fact of her feelings for him.

As much as she had wanted to deny, she knew she couldn’t. Hyoyeon had fallen for the stranger that had saved her 5 years ago from those horrible beasts. She knew it had started from then. As they had met 2 years later, she had sensed his familiarity. But, she hadn’t been able to pinpoint it then. Now, she knew why he had been so familiar to her.

Two years before, when they had met at the dance competition, she knew she had been attracted to him. She knew that she had fallen hard for him. But, it was denial that had her at bay from him and of course, the fact that he was a Casanova played a big part too.

And, now, two years later, they met once again, as Fate would have it, through his own hotel. Starting from the meeting at the lift, to the present, where they were standing face to face.

Another wave of realization hit her hard as she found out that all along, this had been the work of Fate.

As she focused back on his eyes, she knew, deep down, that they were meant to be. She knew that she had already fallen deep in love with him. And, she knew that no one, and no one can make her feel like this again.

No one, except for this person called Lee Hyuk Jae.

As Eunhyuk watched amusedly at the lady in front of him, he observed the emotions going through her at the very moment. First shock then followed by realization, one after another. He watched her being deep in thought, not bothered to end the silence that had enveloped them.

He didn’t want to end the silence, he liked it. He had never been one for silent moments, but he found himself rather enjoying this moment. For when this moment ends, he would found himself surprised once again by whatever comes out of those pouty lips of Hyoyeon’s.

Of course, he also made full use of his enjoyment while waiting.

He observed.

He saw the changes in those pair of brown orbs that were locked with his own pair of black ones. He saw how they had changed from the originally surprised ones to the ones that were looking hard into his eyes, searching for something. When that had happened, he had wanted to break the silence and ask her answers. But, he didn’t.

Simply because he knew she would tell him when the time was right.

“Thank you.”

Those were the two words, and to say were what Eunhyuk had least expected, to have come out of Hyoyeon’s lips. He had presumed the young lady would have said “Are you kidding me?” or at the very least a “What?!” Or “Huh?”. He most certainly did not expect her to thank him.

Well, this just proves that he was right on one aspect; the part about her being full of surprises.

Keeping a smile on his face, he returned her thanks with a gracious “You’re welcome.”.

Hyoyeon then broke out into smile.

“I wondered for years; about who you were, why did you save me. I had long wanted to return your jacket to you, but unfortunately, you never seemed to be in. and, then three months later, you moved away to another place.”

He continued the story for her.

“Two years later, we met at the dance competition and you never knew who I was. You didn’t recognize me. And finally, another two years passed before we could meet again; and now you know everything.”

She slowly digested his words as he spoke. She got the meaning behind his words; he too, knew she got it.

‘This means we are meant to be.’

The sentence left unspoken but spoke volumes about their Fate. Both Hyoyeon and Eunhyuk were uncertain and afraid of the next step and thus, both left the sentence unspoken even though they both knew that it was already decided.

It was this moment that gave them the push they needed.

It was this moment where another turning point in their lives appeared.

In that confined office of Eunhyuk’s, both knew that everything was going to change from now on.

And as sure as their locked gaze that never left each other since the hug was broken,Fate has started spinning her webs again.
