Chapter 26

[Hyuk Jae’s POV]

I had arrived at the café half an hour earlier and was currently on my 2^nd cup of cappuccino. The bell at the door tinkled, signaling that a new customer had arrived. I looked up and saw Tiffany approaching the table I was sitting at.

“Sorry for being late.”

As soon as I was in hearing distance, those were the first words that came out from Tiffany’s mouth. It was so like her to apologize. For the past two weeks where I had known her, I found out she was someone who put others before herself.

“No worries, I came early.”

She gave me a smile that did not quite reached her eyes and ordered her usual mocha. I waited till her drink arrived before breaking the news to her.

“Tiffany-sshi, I’m going to call off the engagement.”

She looked up from stirring her drink and stared at me as if I was an alien. Surprise was written across her features and slowly, shock wore off and a smile replaced it. For the first time since I have known her, I saw the infamous Tiffany eye-smile that Hyoyeon had always told me about.

“Are you serious? Really? Oh my god! Yes! I don’t know how long I have been waiting for this! Gosh! So what’s your plan now? Are you going to tell your parents? Or are you going to go find Hyoyeon? Ahhh!”

My eyes widened at the lady in front of me who was acting like some 5 year old kid that finally persuaded her mom for the candy he had been eyeing for a long time. This young lady here, was definitely not the Tiffany in front my parents and the girl I had known for the past weeks.

But rather… The sister Hyoyeon had always cherished and rambled about.

I waited for her to calm down and pushed the mocha before her face, urging her to take sip and settle down. She mumbled an ‘Oh’ before stopping her babbling and taking a long sip of her drink. I smiled as she put down her drink and she ree of her own.

Yup, no doubt, Tiffany was back to the cheerful girl I had so often heard of and that alone, assured me everything was going to be alright.

Now? Time for step number two.
