An Another Normal Day

[HIATUS] ROOM VI

"Hey, do you need anything? I'm at the supermarket" Ken asked Taekwoon through the phone. The former was currently walking through the aisles, amazed at the amount and choices of food he was presented with. He never did grocery run, and whenever one of them asked him to do it, he'd force Hyuk into doing it for him. Hyuk wasn't one to easily be convinced, but throw in a few threats and incessant pleading, he'd do it. It was Ken's first time doing grocery and although alone, he was excited. "You're doing grocery run?", Taekwoon answered him back with a question, his voice piqued. "Yeap", Ken hummed back, "so, anything?". After being told to pick up some fresh tomatoes and chilli flakes, Ken hung up and wandered off to find them.

"Ken! Hey!" Ken turned around to see Xiumin waving and walking towards him. Ken waved back and stayed still at his spot, waiting for Xiumin to reach him. "What are you doing here?", Ken asked Xiumin. The older boy was pushing a trolley cart, and the trolley was filled with all sorts of junk food. Ken's eyes brightened at the sight, both in awe and envy. If he had gone back with only junk food in his hands, both Taekwoon and Hakyeon would kill him, but not before telling him to return everything back. "What kind of question is that?", Xiumin sneered, "I'm in a supermarket, I'm obviously here to buy some guns". Ken looked at Xiumin in alarm, "You can buy guns here? Is that legal?", Ken asked, his voice pitched a little higher than usual. Xiumin looked at Ken's stricken face and chuckled to himself. He playfully raised his eyebrow at the younger one and strolled ahead, leaving the question unanswered. Ken snapped out of his daze and quickly followed Xiumin, suddenly intimidated at the thought of guns being sold at the supermarket. No wonder Taekwoon liked going here, he thought to himself.

"I've never seen you around here", Xiumin stated as he juggled between two cereal boxes, trying to decide which flavour he wanted. Ken looked at Xiumin and tilted his head, "Are you trying to flirt with me?", he asked, a little amused. Xiumin took his eyes away from the boxes and looked at Ken, giving the latter a once over. "Nah, I ought to have a better taste", Xiumin stated before picking the honey flavour and tossing it in his trolley. Ken pouted and trudged forward to match Xiumin's pace, "Why? I'm a little cute, aren't I?", he asked, clearly unsatisfied with Xiumin's earlier answer (or diss, more likely). Xiumin snorted at Ken's dissatisfaction. "Some people prefer vanilla,", Xiumin said slowly, as if trying to make a point to a middle schooler "and some people like honey better", he finished while nudging his head towards the cereal box in his trolley. Ken looked at the box and scrunched up his face, "I'm guessing you're the latter, then?". Xiumin hummed in response and Ken chuckled. Xiumin turned to look at him. "I mean, if you chose honey over vanilla then clearly,", Ken stopped to get ahold of his laughter, "your taste isn't all that great", he quipped before skipping to the next aisle, Xiumin yelling profanities behind him.

。。。

Hyuk was exhausted. He didn't know studying Psychology would be so mentally draining. He had been flipping through the study journals for hours, and none of the facts made sense to him. He had try to sought help from Taekwoon (it was his specialty, after all) but it was to no avail. All Taekwoon had to say was "Read the journals, everything's written there", and Hyuk honestly thought his fellow tenant was useless. Hyuk genuinely pitied Taekwoon's future children, if they had gone to their father for help, they would probably be handed manuals, with Taekwoon saying "all of the answers to life are in there". Hyuk snickered at the thought before sighing again when he looked at his study table. Deciding that he needed a break from studying (even though he had gained absolutely nothing), he got up from his seat and made his way out from the room.

"Oi", Hyuk greeted before plopping himself down next to Ravi. The latter was peacefully watching the tv when he was suddenly disturbed by the youngest tenant. Ravi glanced sideways to take a look at Hyuk and groaned. "What are you doing here?" he asked snappily. "Why are you so grumpy?", Hyuk asked back while grinning at him. Out of all his housemates, he liked messing with Ravi best. The latter was a bit chill, Hyuk found but his reactions were usually over the top and thus making him the most fun to make fun of. Ravi rolled his eyes at Hyuk and diverted his attention back to the tv. "Hey", Hyuk said, "hey hey hey hey hey", Hyuk continued saying when he didn't get a response. Ravi groaned (again) and threw a pillow at Hyuk's face to shut the young one up. "Can't you go a day without bothering me?!", Ravi screeched. Hyuk laughed obnoxiously before getting up from the couch, "Nope", he said with emphasis on the P. Ravi rolled his eyes (again) and looked at the younger begrudgingly. Hyuk snorted before walking back to his room. That was such a nice break, he thought before chuckling to himself.

Hongbin rolled on his bed one last time before getting up groggily. He had no classes today so he had spent his day sleeping since he didn't manage to get any last night. It was all thanks to Hakyeon for keeping him up all night. The latter (read: forced) asked Hongbin to watch a movie with him in the living room last night. One movie turned into two, and then three, and by the time it was 3 am, it had into turned into a full movie marathon. Hakyeon didn't give Hongbin a chance to close his eyes throughout the movies either, since the older boy would supply his own comments during the scenes and asked for Hongbin's input every now and then. Hongbin groaned at last night's recalls and made his way to the bathroom to freshen himself up.

Hongbin went to the kitchen after showering and saw Taekwoon preparing food, which he presumed and hoped was lunch. "What are you cooking for lunch?", Hongbin curiously asked before opening the fridge and poured himself some water. Taekwoon turned around and looked at Hongbin strangely, and the latter raised in eyebrow in question. "It's 7 pm, I don't think anyone has lunch this late", Taekwoon deadpanned and Hongbin spluttered his water. "What the hell! Clean that up", Taekwoon screeched before grimacing at the droplets of water (and Hongbin's spit) on the floor. Hongbin quickly took a rag from the counter and wiped the mess he had made, sighing while he was at it. Taekwoon looked at the sight of Hongbin kneeling down and wiping the floor and snickered to himself, the sharp tongued boy looked like a very low budget Cinderella to him.

Hakyeon had arrived back from Uni an hour ago and was currently sitting at the dining table with everyone else. It was one of those rare nights whereby everyone was at home before 8 so they decided to eat dinner together. Ken had come back from his first ever grocery run a little earlier than Hakyeon and had passed the ingredients he bought to Taekwoon. The latter on the other hand, was in the kitchen, busy doing the last prep for dinner. Taekwoon decided to make spaghetti today and Ravi was the most excited for it, since it was his favourite food. Hyuk, who was slumping lazily on his chair playfully poked Hakyeon who was sitting next to him. The latter glanced at him and slapped his finger away, but Hyuk was annoyingly persistent. "Stop that", Hakyeon said in a warning tone. Finally sensing danger, Hyuk stopped poking and grinned sheepishly at Hakyeon. The latter scoffed before looking at Hongbin, "What movies should we watch tonight?", Hakyeon asked. Hongbin looked at Hakyeon and grimaced, "Absolutely nothing", he answered with an edge. "Oooooh", Hakyeon cooed, "is that a new movie? I guess we can watch that", Hakyeon replied excitedly and Hongbin groaned at the older boy's daftness.
