Twist Of Fate

Chapter 49

The Heardheaded CEO

Tuesday already came.

You let out a tired groan and stretched your body. Your bed was warm, soft, and so cozy. You didn’t want to get up already.

But reality quickly dawned upon you. Instantly, you sat up in your bed and looked to your side. The bed was empty. You were alone in the room.

Yongguk’s bedding hadn’t been touched. His duvet was still folded. This meant that he hadn’t slept in the bed last night.

You had gone into Yongguk’s studio last night. You had no memory of going back to bed. Your eyes widened, when it deigned upon you that you had clearly fallen asleep on the couch in Yongguk’s studio, and like the cold gentleman that he is, he must have carried you to bed.

You were still wearing your dress from yesterday evening. You clearly hadn’t gone to bed yourself. You let out a groan and tossed your body into the bed. You should have never closed your eyes.

You looked at the clock on your nightstand. It wasn’t even seven am. You were up too early, obviously because you fell asleep early.

The door suddenly opened, and your eyes shot up. You quickly pulled the cover up and covered your exposed legs, and Yongguk appeared in that moment.

Yongguk stiffened at the door. He was fully dressed, but he held a towel in his hand and water dripped from his bangs.

“You are up.” He said in a that low morning voice.

“Yes, I fell asleep early.” You told.

“Yeah, and I had to carry you up.” He replied.

“You didn’t have to.” You said.

“I had to. You wouldn’t be able to sleep in the noise.” He stated.

You stared at him as you tugged on your duvet to your upper body. Your cheeks heated up. He was being considerate again.

“Aren’t you going to get out of bed?” He asked as his eyes traveled down your body.

You tossed the duvet away and crawled out of bed. You combed your hair with your hands and lowered your head.

“What are you doing?” He asked with a frown on his face.

“I’ve not washed.” You mumbled, avoiding his gaze.

“Yeah, clearly.” He stated.

You rushed past him with your head lowered and your hair in front of your face, covering your face.

You didn’t want him to see your puffy morning face when you had fallen asleep with makeup on, or the possible dirt you got in your eyes, the smudged mascara, or anything worse such a drool.

“It’s not like I’ve not seen your face in the morning before.”

You heard him shout from the room, but you were already in front of the bathroom. You entered the bathroom, closed the door, and hurried to the mirror.

You glanced at your reflection and your eyes widened. You wanted to scream. Thank goodness, you hurried out before he saw your face like this.

You the faucet and splashed cold water on your face. Then you took out your makeup remover, grabbed some cotton pads and began to rub your skin, getting the dirt off your face.

Yongguk was alone in the bedroom as soon as you had left the room. He looked out at the bed, the bed covers were spread, and he headed to the bed.

He started to fix the bedding, when he suddenly stopped, because he could smell a different fragrance in his room.

It was nothing like his own scent, which he quickly discovered, and he clenched his jaw. It was a mild and sweet scent, and sort of tender.

He found himself staring at the bed where you had laid in just a moment ago. Even his bed smelled of you now and his room too. He let out a deep breath and pulled back. He decided to wake Ki Joon.

You had said that you would take an evening shift last night, so he would be getting some alone time with the boy.

“Ki Joon?” Yongguk called out as he opened the door to the boy’s room.

He froze, when he saw that the kid was still asleep. He had been sleeping for many hours now. He glanced out the hall as he could hear the water running in the shower. You were showering now.

He stepped inside the room and headed to the boy’s bed. Then he seated at the bed and leaned down to the sleeping boy.

“Hey, kiddo.” He called out.

He had to change his deep voice to a softer tone at times, when he was with Ki Joon, and it came to him naturally now, somehow. He had gotten used to this.

“Umm hmfff.” Ki Joon puffed out.

The little boy stretched his arm and grabbed onto Yongguk’s arms. Ki Joon pulled the latter towards him. Yongguk sighed softly and pulled the boy into him.

“I love you, son, wake up.” He called out.

“I’m tired.” Ki Joon mumbled.

“It’s our day today, mom is working till late.” Yongguk said.

That was when the boy opened his eyes, and Yongguk pulled back with a smile. “You are wake now.” He chuckled.

“Do I get candy?” The boy asked.

“Yes, if you don’t tell mommy.” He laughed.

“Pinky promise.” Ki Joon said.

“Pinky promise.” Yongguk repeated, and the two laced their little fingers and laughed.

Ki Joon quickly pulled his duvet down and jumped off his bed. He ran to his closet and began to search for his clothes.

The boy quickly found an outfit, but that was because he picked out whatever he saw first. Yongguk laughed to himself as Ki Joon reminded him of himself.

“I have to pee and brush my teeth.” Ki Joon said in his small voice, and Yongguk nodded.

“Mom is showering, I’ll send you to her.” He said, and Ki Joon nodded.

The two walked out of the nursery room and headed to the bathroom. He breathed sharply. He could hear that the water was still running.

Ki Joon was about to open the door, but Yongguk quickly grabbed onto the boy’s hand. Ki Joon looked up at his father with a puzzled look.

“We have to knock first.” Yongguk said and the kid nodded.

Then the boy knocked on the door. Yongguk let out a deep sigh. “That was close.”

“Who is it?” You called out.

“It’s me.” Ki Joon piped out.

“Come in sweetheart, I’m in the shower.” You said.

Ki Joon looked up at his father, and Yongguk gave the boy a little smile and a nod. “Go in.” He said, and he stepped away from the door.

Ki Joon opened the door and went inside, but he left the door open. Yongguk glanced out and saw that you had the curtains pulled and you were in the shower. He quickly looked away.

“Close the door.” Yongguk said quickly and Ki Joon did as he was told.

The door closed on his face and he froze for a second. “That was hard.” He breathed out and grabbed onto his neck.

Yongguk headed downstairs and to the kitchen. It was time to make breakfast. He sighed deeply when he opened the fridge and his eyes scanned the fridge to see what there was for food.

“How does she make breakfast so easily?” He sighed to himself.

Then he took out some eggs and decided to make scrambled eggs. That was easy to make. He was stirring the eggs and added a bit of salt, when Tigger showed up.

“You must be hungry too.” He smiled as he looked at the fluffy poodle at his legs and Tigger jumped.

He opened the cabinet, and Tigger stuck its tongue out and jumped at his legs. The dog knew where its food was.

“Easy.” He laughed and took the dog food out, opened the bag and poured some into Tigger’s food bowl.

“Eat a lot.” He smiled as he patted the dog, when it began to silently eat. Then he stood up from the ground and looked out.

He froze, when he saw that you were standing in front of him and you were looking at him. Your hair was wet, you seemed tired to him, and you glanced at him quickly before you headed to the refrigerator.

“Did you sleep well?”

“Umm.” You cooed.

Yongguk cleared his throat, and he strode up to you. He narrowed his eyes, when he saw that you stiffened. You stood in front of the fridge.

“Aren’t you getting anything?” He asked.

Your eyes drifted up and into his. He stared into your eyes. Then you finally took a bottle of orange juice and stepped back. You seemed distracted. He frowned, but you turned around, not looking at him.

“I made scrambled eggs. Is there anything else you want? Ki Joon will just have cereal.”

“No, I’ll have scrambled eggs, it’s fine.” You replied.

You took a sip from the bottle and looked at him. He noticed that you were looking at him again. He breathed deeply.

“I’ll pick you up from work.” He said, and you stiffened.

“Okay. But then I’ll have to take the bus to work.” You said with a puzzled look.

“You don’t have to, I’ll drop you off too.”

You tensed again.

“I’ll call Ki Joon.” You said before you left the room.

Yongguk sighed deeply and seated at the dining table. He placed some scrambled eggs on his plate with some salad and bread.

You sighed deeply when you walked out of the kitchen. You wondered about why Yongguk wanted to drop you off at your work and pick you up later.

You found Ki Joon in his room and he was playing with the train track he build. You smiled as he was delved in his game. He made little sounds of a train driving. “Fuuttt fuuttt fuuttt.”

“Honey.” You called out, and the boy looked up. “Dad’s waiting for us, come down and have breakfast.” You said, and he nodded.

He got up from the floor and hurried out of the room. “I want coco pops.” He chimed.

You wondered if he needed to eat that for breakfast. He was already hyper. You shook your head and followed Ki Joon.

By the time you made it back, Yongguk was seated at the table. His eyes were on his phone. He was quiet.

You couldn’t help but to think of last night and the memory which you had remembered. The kiss on your knee.

A cool shudder rushed down your spine and you shook your head. You tipped your head to the side, and then he suddenly stood up from his chair.

“Go ahead and eat. I got a phone call to make.” He said and ushered out of the room.

You turned around and looked at him, but he was gone in the blink of an eye. You sighed and looked at the kid, who had wanted cereal.

It ended up being only you and Ki Joon for breakfast. The three of you usually ate together, but Yongguk had a phone call to make, and he hadn’t returned yet. It seemed to be a long phone call.

“Yeah, Himchan. I will be there later. I have some things to do at home first.”

You looked up, when you heard his voice in the hall. You were washing the dishes, when Yongguk returned in the kitchen. You kept your eyes on the dishes.

“I’m sorry I left during breakfast.” He said.

You looked up, surprised to hear him apologize. You shook your head. “Is everything okay?” You asked.

“Yeah, the guys just need me at the studio. I’ll send Ki Joon to kindergarten.” He said, and you nodded.

He took off again, and you sighed deeply. You placed the pan in the sink and grabbed the sponge and began to scrub it.

Ki Joon gave you a kiss on your cheek before he took off with Yongguk. You were alone home now, and there was still some time left for your work to begin.

~❋~

You waited for Yongguk to return as he had to send you off to work. You were seated on the couch in the living room and played with Tigger on your lap.

You could take your car and leave, but Yongguk had said he wanted to drop you off at your work. It was just so unusual of him.

“I’m home.”

His deep voice broke out in the hall and you jumped up from the couch somehow. You could hear his approaching footsteps, and quickly sat down on the couch again. It would look weird if you stood up, doing nothing.

“Tigger come here.” You called out and the dog ran to your lap.

Yongguk entered the living room, but you were looking at the dog. You could feel his eyes on you, and then all of a sudden, it hit you that you were alone home, alone together for the first time. Your eyes slowly widened, and you frowned.

There was nothing wrong with being alone home with Yongguk. It was only for a little time. The both of you had work too, but not until an hour. What would you be doing for a whole hour at home?

You finally glanced up and saw that he headed towards you. Your heart chose to act weird. It was jumping inside your chest, running a marathon. You kept your eyes glued to Tigger, ignoring Yongguk’s presence.

I am alone home, I am alone home, I am alone home with Yongguk. What do I do? I should go upstairs?

“What time is your work?” He asked as he stopped in front of you.

Your eyes stopped at his legs, slowly wandered up his tall body from his legs, his chest and up to his dark eyes.

“What time is it now?” You asked.

He lowered his gaze, moved his arm up and looked at the watch on his wrist. Your eyes fell upon his silver watch with black leather.

“It’s a quarter to nine am.” He said.

“My work begins at ten.” You said as you looked into his eyes.

Tigger was jumping on your lap. Yongguk stared into your eyes. There was almost an hour left. It didn’t take that long driving to your work.

“There’s still some time left then.” He said, and you nodded. “Umm.”

He closed his mouth, and then his eyes lowered to Tigger on your lap. Yongguk stepped closer and seated next to you on the couch.

What were you supposed to do for forty minutes at home? You became quiet. Yongguk sat next to you. He was quiet too, like usual.

Then Tigger leaned into him, and you heard a low and heartfelt chuckle that made your heart clench.

You glanced out and saw that Yongguk was smiling as he nuzzled his dog. He showed the dog so much love and affection, but he totally forgot about your presence.

You looked the other way and let out a small sigh. Then you stood up, but froze, when Yongguk reached out and grabbed your wrist.

“Where are you going?” He asked.

You turned around, your eyes flickered down to him, your lips parted as you were about to speak, but the he drew you down and back on the couch.

“Just sit back and relax your mind.” He said. His voice was low and smooth as silk.

Why was his voice so alluring? You straightened your posture and stared off. You blinked your eyes a couple of times. Your body was stiff. You weren’t used to this, being alone home with Yongguk.

You are alone with Yongguk.

Yongguk continued playing with Tigger. He was quiet again. He wasn’t going to talk or have a conversation with you.

He was just going to play with his dog and ignore you. You groaned and got up from the couch again. Yongguk looked up at you instantly.

“Gosh, I am going up.” You said in a frustrated tone, and you stormed out of the room before he got to speak.

You shut the door behind you and jumped into the bed. You some music on your phone and listened to Frank Ocean.

It hadn’t been three minutes since you left the living room, and your door opened suddenly. You sat up in bed and looked out.

It was Yongguk, of course. He stood at the door, your eyes flickered down, but Tigger wasn’t there. His eyes burned on you and he closed the door behind him.

“Kwon?” He called out.

“What?” You sighed and laid down on bed.

“Who are you working with today?” He asked.

You furrowed your brows as you stared off on the wall, then you moved around in bed and looked out at him again. He was leaning a

Chapter 6: This chapter was really fun. They also had super fun shopping. Like their audience, those three did look like a family. Also, those two blushing and slowly developing feelings for the other is a welcome sight. Can't wait to see what kind of stories those two would come up with in order to tackle his family. Also, it's kinda weird to see them call each other with their family name, mostly because I'm not used to it. Anyway, I will be back later to read more ^^

Chapter 5: It was nice to see them bonding with Ki Joon and in turn, him slowly opening up to them. And Yongguk's behaving this way towards her because he's kinda jealous of things unknowingly right? LoL... Setting my delulu mind aside, he's gotta change and not be like those elementary boys who are rude to their crush. Nonetheless, I hope they get to know each other better soon. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to fool their family this way. Anyway, I will be back later to read more ^^

Chapter 4: Ooh, Ki Joon is here finally!! But like Taec said, it's gonna take him some time to get used to the new environment and to also think of them as his mom and dad. But when they get there, it's gonna be really nice. And in that time, he's gonna bring in some romance between his adopted parents. Can't wait to read how things would go herein. But will be back later to do so ^^

Chapter 3: Hahaha when she thought there was some intruder, I was expecting it to be one of the other boys. Definitely didn't expect it would turn out this way. I laughed really hard. Like Yongguk, I think their cohabitation would be fun too. And I went through your blog to look at all the pictures at once. It was nice to have a visual aid for all those room. And I can't wait for Ki Joon's arrival. Will be back later to read more ^^

Chapter 2: Sera's and Taec's friendship is sweet. Hope there won't be a love triangle or something later. Also, can't wait to see Ki Joon. BTW isn't Poodle one of the hypoallergenic dog breeds? Tigger is a poodle right? That's what I remember reading but correct me if I was wrong. Anyway, now that she has gotten his address, wonder when she'll move in and how things turn develop (fights or so) before Ki Joon gets home. Will be back later to read more ^^

Chapter 1: Read the first chapter and gotta say it was a pretty good start. Definitely didn't expect the adoption to start this way. I'm definitely looking forward to their cohabitation. I'm sure they are gonna bicker all the time Ki Joon wasn't around. And speaking of Ki Joon, I'm curious of one thing. When you explained his backstory, I failed to understand this part. Is he N.Korean by origin/blood and lost his parents while trying to defect to S.Korea? Did I understand that part correctly? Anyway, I can't wait to read more. But will be back later to do so ^^

Yongguk frustrates me, like he can read Kwon like an open book but he is so closed that we don't know what he thinks or feels.
