Return.
Memories of Her.
Zelo spat out a ball of saliva and blood as Yongguk once again rammed him against the wall,
supporting him only by his collar that was now mangled and torn.
"You wanna tell me what you did now?" Zelo coughed and turned his head to the left, not wanting
to answer. He knew what he had to say would only anger him further.
"What the were you doing out there, huh!?" Himchan spat fury like fireworks, nearing his
face to Zelo's pale, quivering one. Sometimes his hyungs were scarier than their leader, sometimes.
"Do you know how much we're all in because you went out and ing saw him!?"
"I'm sorry..." Zelo uttered weakly, his voice broken.
"Shut up!" Yongguk slammed him against the wall again, winding the boy. "Apologies wont get
you anywhere!" Zelo nodded limply, coughing up choked air.
"Now tell us what you did when you met Lay." Yongguk growled, leaning in close to Zelo,
intimidation at it's peak.
"It wasn't just Lay." Zelo had given up. He knew either way he would get beaten to a pulp, no
matter hat he said. "Amber was there too." Yongguk cursed under his breath.
"Amber? What the was she doing there?" He asked. Zelo shook his head. ", this means
we may have to pull out all the stops. What if she's helping him remember?"
"So what did you do with them?" Himchan growled, taking attention back to the pale boy in front
of them.
"She grabbed my arm and wanted to know why we beat up Lay." he rasped.
"You didn't ing tell them though, did you?" Yongguk tightened his grip with the last two words.
Zelo hissed in pain and shook his head rapidly.
"No, I just did the first thing that came to my mind." he replied. "I melted her hand and escaped."
Within seconds Himchan's fist collided with Zelo's stomach and yet more blood flew from his mouth.
"You ing idiot!" Yongguk screeched. "That's even worse!" Another fist flew towards Zelo,
hitting him in the jaw.
"Now she knows for sure what we're here for! You didn't even ing think did you!? You weak little
!!!" Zelo knew better than to apologise. He stayed silent, his eyes drooping weakly. Not even his
consciousness wanted to be around him now. Yongguk let Zelo fall harshly to the ground, running his
fingers through his hair in frustration.
"This is bull. I'm going to bed." He mumbled, punching the wall on his way out. Himchan followed
him, the others all already fast asleep since long ago. Zelo had come home late hoping that the others
wouldn't notice, however Himchan and Yongguk knew the boy all too well. Himchan slammed the door
on his way out, leaving Zelo crumpled on the floor like and old newspaper. Zelo knew nothing good
would come of this new discovery. Yongguk would only get more violent now, and he knew for a fact
that Lay wouldn't be the only target any more. It was the sad truth that everyone he was close to was
now in great danger.
~*~*~
You tossed and turned in your bed for the umpteenth night in a row, still unable to get a full nights sleep.
One would think that it would be easy to see something and forget it, or at least accept it. Not for you.
Ever since you had seen that file Suho had dropped with your name in fresh ink under Lay's picture,
your mind had been racing with ideas and possibilities. Although you didn't want to get your hopes up
in the event that you were just jumping to conclusions, it was so hard not to. After all your name next
to Lay's picture could only mean a handful of things, right? You slapped yourself and tried to think
straight. Lay didn't remember you when you were right in front of him, why would he remember you
now? It was possible, but not probable. Some stones were better left unturned. You turned over when
you heard a door click in the room next to yours, but you knew better than to get excited. It was probably
just Suho going into Lay's room to get something for his research.
The first few nights you had heard noises from Lay's room you had bolted from your bed to his doorway in
a hopeful scurry, your eyes wide and teary. The tears fell from your eyes almost instantly however when
you saw Suho standing in the middle of his room gathering several items of interest. This happened every
day for a week until you realized he wasn't coming back. He probably never would.
Every now and then you would go into his room, look at things that were once his. It was almost as if he
were dead. Perhaps the saddest thing was that he was still alive. He was there, being dangled in front of you,
fate teasing you with him. You couldn't have him now, not ever again. You would never know your love
for the rest of your life. His scent still lingered in some things. You couldn't stay any longer than a few
minutes though. Every time you would remember your cruel fate and burst into tears, one of the others in
the house always running to comfort you the second they heard your loud cries echo throughout the
mansion. You were cold, unfeeling. A lot of your days after the incident were spent crying alone in your
room. When you tried to sleep all that would happen is that you would be left alone to think about all
life's unfair trials, and it would make you more and more miserable.
You had adjusted a little better now, and were closer to your old self. If it weren't for EXO, ENDO and
Ren, you probably would have fallen into a deep depression. Lay may have been alive, but to you it felt
like he had died along with your heart.
You rolled over in your covers again as you heard another shuffling of footsteps in Lay's room. Sleeping
was bad for you, lately.

"Hey, how are you?" Lay spoke calmly into the phone, concerned for his friend that had left in such a
hurry after he had seemed desperate to tell Lay something important to him.
"Hey! I'm good actually, why do you ask?" Ryeowook replied through the crackled phone reception.
Lay shifted in his seat.
"I was just wondering." He said. "So do you wanna do something today?" He thought maybe if they
were alone again, Ryeowook would have the courage to continue what he was going to say.
"Ah, I can't!" Ryeowook sighed. "I promised I'd be somewhere today!" Lay laughed casually.
"That's ok!" He replied. "I'll just ask the others."
"I know that Kyu is busy today, but Yeonnie will do something with you!" Ryeowook replied. Lay smiled
and thanked him before hanging up his phone to dial Hyoyeon's number.
"So she just gave you a free meal?" Hyoyeon's face was bright like fairy lights as she walked through
the central part of the town with Lay. Lay nodded, a grateful smile playing on his lips.
"But I probably would have enjoyed it more if it weren't an apology." he replied, his mind drifting to
the scene in the cafe. He wished he could explain to her why he was zoned out for so long. He was
never angry like she thought, but he was too afraid to tell her the truth.
"I'm sure she'll get over it!" Hyoyeon said with a hopeful smile. Lay nodded with a wistful smile and
stayed staring forward. They didn't really have any plans for that day, Lay just wanted some company.
He had decided that being on his own only made him lonely.
"Lay?" Lay looked over and hummed a reply. "Where are we going?" Lay hadn't noticed but they had
almost passed the central district of the town and were heading into residential area now. Lay stopped
and looked around, his gaze staying over the path back into town.
"I don't know." he replied simply. "But let's go back into town, kay?" A smile came over his angelic
face and Hyoyeon smiled back, nodding with a gentle laugh.
As they were heading back into town, a familiar girl approached them, waving with a carefree smile.
"Hey, have you guys seen Wookie?" she asked as Lay and Hyoyeon gave her confused glances. She
laughed. "Oh sorry, you guys probably don't know who I am! My name is Minri, I'm Ryeowook's
friend." She smiled. Lay returned the friendly smile and looked over to Hyoyeon, who had figured out
exactly who she was.
"Ryeowook is busy today, he said something about how Kyuhyun and him were going to do something
together." She replied. Minri raised her eyebrows in a sly way.
"Oh they are?" She asked incredulously, a slight giggle escaping. She tried to hide her grin by turning
away, but the two still saw it. "Thank you guys, see you later!" She ran off down the street and turned
a corner, leaving Lay and Hyoyeon to exchange confused glances between each other.
"That was a strange way to react." Hyoyeon said with a slight frown. Lay nodded slowly and watched
down the street a little longer, before turning back to Hyoyeon.
"Is there anywhere you want to go?" He asked. Hyoyeon looked up at a tall, rundown apartment building
that stood next to them.
"Away from here!" She laughed and screwed up her face, walking down the pathway towards the centre
of town. Lay laughed too and followed along.

Zelo opened his eyes groggily, one still partially swollen shut. He wiped the blood from his face and leant
his back against the wall as he sat heavily on the floor. Sunlight streamed through the dirty old windows,
and Zelo could hear that it was well into the day. He groaned as he attempted to stand up, the pain in his
stomach like iron weights. He limped over to the door and jiggled the handle. Locked. He sighed, and
wondered how long they would leave him in there with no food or water. His head bent forward, he
shuffled over the the window, squinting as the sunlight hit his eyes. The scene wasn't too flattering. Then
again it never was. A dirty window gave passage to grey buildings and other dirty windows, most of
which had stained curtains pulled across them. He asked himself why the leader had chosen such a ty
place to live, even if it was just temporarily. They were people too, so why did they have to live with the
rest of the 'below-the-line' population if they clearly weren't?
Zelo snapped out of his thoughts when he saw a familiar figure walking down the street below. She had
stopped and was talking to someone. Who? Zelo couldn't see, but he didn't need to. All his attention was
focused on the beautiful girl below. Hyoyeon... He remembered her name perfectly, how could he forget?
She looked up at the building, and Zelo panicked, hiding behind the wall with his back pressed flat against it.
When he thought it was safe to look out again, he peered around the corner to look out again, and she wasn't
looking anymore. He smiled to himself when he saw her laugh, her cheekbones raising on her face and her
eyes forming perfect little crescents. It was bliss simply watching her.
His heart dropped as she walked away, Zelo moving around the window to try to see the last of her as she
disappeared out of his view. He sighed, a smile still on his face. Maybe it wasn't so bad after all.
