About Time.
Memories of Her.
You stayed crouched in the tree - silent and alert. You had heard from Suho that Kyuhyun had arrived
and were now running on adrenaline and nothing else. Your fear of death was what was keeping you
from having a breakdown. It was silent around you, the only sound coming from the outer ring where
the enemy had landed. You shivered as you heard a scream, having no idea who it came from. You
shook your head to clear your mind, and continued to stare forward in agile. The soft breeze made
the tree leaves rustle, and you inhaled the earthy air that lifted your hair from your shoulders. You
stopped your breath as you saw a figure approaching slowly through the trees. You narrowed your
eyes and silently raised your mini-binoculars to your eyes to see who it was. Judging by how he was
walking and looking around, you assumed he hadn't seen you yet. It was definitely the enemy though.
You readied your eyes, your gaze not leaving his eyes the whole time. Slowly you fished a rock from
your pouch and raised it, ready to throw. The figure came closer still, and you knew you would have
to act soon or else he could reach the centre. Your eyes narrowed as you drew in a breath and held it,
throwing the rock as hard as you could. It landed just below his feet and his vision suddenly darted up
to you in the trees. Instantly you sent out a vision signal that would make him turn on his other members
as you jumped to the ground, however a strong force knocked you back before you could see what had
happened. You blocked it with your forearms and slid backwards on your feet. Whatever that was, it
was powerful. Within the next second you lowered your forearms and launched another vision signal
as he ran towards you, but again nothing happened and again there was a burst of something - to his
left this time. You frowned and sent another, and another. Every time it was ineffective. Just as he
reached one metre in front of you, you jumped back up into the tree behind you.
"Why won't it work!" You cried.
"We've done our research on you; I was the best one to fight you because of my power." He said, punching
the air and having another powerful force almost knock you out of the tree. You grabbed a branch and
swung yourself around so you were sitting higher.
"What is your power?" You called. "What kind of power overthrows mind control!?"
"You're thinking of this in all the wrong ways." He replied. The birds around you suddenly got deafeningly
loud, and you clutched your head as you tried to force them out. In a split second while your guard was
down, you were knocked out of the tree and pinned to the ground by a heavy foot. "Your power isn't mind
control, it's manipulation through vision." He said in a scarily calm voice. "Your vision waves are sent
through the air just the same as any images are. The speed is unfathomable; however that doesn't mean it's
impossible to intercept." You narrowed your eyes as you tried to lift his boot from your chest.
"What are you saying?" You said in a low growl. He smiled cynically.
"I'm saying that the speed of light is roughly 882 thousand times faster than the speed of sound, so generally
you have the upper hand. But in my case, I control all sound waves in existence; so I'm free to make them
as fast as I want." You could almost feel your heart dropping. There was no way you could land a hit on him.
If he could control the amplitude, speed and equalization of every single sound wave it meant he could blast
your vision signals away before they reached his eyes. He was invincible here.
You decided it was time to put in to use some of the wushu that Tao had taught you a while ago. You swung
your feet up quickly and hooked them over the top of his leg, pushing downwards so that he fell over backwards.
You used that instant to leap up and out from under his boot and pin him down, your hands on his shoulders. You
thought if you were at close enough distance and took him by surprise, perhaps your technique could work. You
only needed One Shot. You leant down hastily so your eyes were mere centimetres away from his and as he
opened his eyes you sent a signal. Soon enough though, your eyes remained wide open in shock as what felt like
an explosion erupted in between you and your attacker, him staying put on the ground and you flying off of him
into the air. Your mind was still in shock as you fell back to the ground and landed on your side. The breath was
knocked out of you and you were panicking. There was no way you could take down an enemy 10 times stronger
than you with brute force alone. His attacks were so powerful, yet you could tell that he wasn't even serious yet.
The man approached you and turned you over with his foot, leaving you to lay on the ground in a daze, trying so
hard to get up. His foot held you down again and a sudden wave of fear washed over you.
"They were stupid to let a girl fight by herself." He chuckled, pressing down harder.
"Who..." You choked. "Who are you..?" The man formed a kind of transparent blade of sound energy over his right
hand and brought it close to your neck. Just as he was about to strike the final blow, a voice called out in pure
desperation.
"Youngjae! Stop! Don't kill her!"
And immediately he withdrew, dropping to his knees in front of you.
~*~*~
Luhan and Sehun sat back to back, concentrating with all of their power on everything around them. Luhan
concentrated on the movement of things, and Sehun concentrated on everything the wind brought him; Scent,
DNA, even sound. The two of them knew that out of the six enemies, five had already arrived in the outer
circle and one with you. That meant that the last one was sure to come for them.
Without warning, without a trace and without any kind of sign that either of the two guardians had picked up,
the last opponent came stomping down from the air and landed directly behind them.
"Ah, so I got you two, huh?" He asked, voice laced with malice. Sehun instantly sprung up and jumped away
from him, falling back down again in fear and panick. This man's aura was like nothing he had ever felt before.
It made him want to run and hide. Sehun shot a blast of wind at the man with a shaking swipe of his hand, only
to have him laugh and stay still like it was simply a soft breeze. "Thanks for that, makes it much easier than
forcing it out of you." The cheeriness in his voice was scary. In that instant He swiped his hand out towards
Sehun, much the same as the latter had done originally. This blast of wind however, was far more powerful than
Sehun's. The sheer force of it cleaned the ground around them of everything but the earth itself and sent
Sehun flying back into a tree, hitting his back and crying out a choked, silenced cry.
"Sehun!" Luhan cried out, uprooting a tree with his powers and flinging it at the enemy. He ran to Sehun and
checked him over. "Are you ok?" Sehun nodded with his mouth still slightly open, blood running down the
corner. This man was powerful if he could do such things with great ease. Sehun's eyes suddenly widened as
he looked behind Luhan. Before he could turn around the enemy had him locked into place; his body trapped
on his knees and unable to move thanks to the enemy's hands placed accurately on his jaw and forehead.
"You're a little different though." He said sinisterly. "Your power doesn't come into contact with me, only what
you throw with it. How am I supposed to absorb your ability that way, huh?" Sehun struggled to stand up, his
insides burning. What did he mean 'absorb' Luhan's powers? Sehun threw another powerful beam of wind at
their enemy, and again the man stayed still, a light smirk on his face.
"What the-"
"You don't get it, do you?" the man asked. "I wouldn't expect someone of your pathetic power level to even
begin to fathom mine." He let Luhan fall to the ground, the deer-faced boy breathing heavily and eyes wide
on all fours.
"W-What did you d-do..?" He asked, shaking. The man began to laugh.
"I was only using my ability, same as you two." He said proudly. "And everyone else who attacks me."
"What?" Sehun asked, helping Luhan stand up as the man turned his back to them.
"It's quite simple really. Normally I wouldn't have told you but otherwise this fight is going to be exceedingly
boring." He replied. "My root power in energy. That's all energy in everything, all energy from life and death,
and all energy from abilities like yours. If you attack me all I have to do is take the energy from your attack
and then I have the same power as you to use whenever I want to. It was quite fun actually, you can probably
guess why I'm the last of the Supermen, can't you? Their powers looked so fun, you know... Of course they didn't
take too kindly to their powers being forcefully taken from them, but thanks to my power thy didn't stand a
chance against me. I wiped them all out, and I'll do the same to your pathetic race, too."
Sehun and Luhan finally understood who this man was. Their fear was visible, but they remained strong. They
couldn't use their powers to fight anymore, and would have to rely on brute force. Not even HUNHAN could
save them now. No one could, really. Sehun sent out a distress signal to the first person he thought of.
"Hyung, there's no way we can win. He's here, hyung. Kyuhyun is here."
