Finally.
Memories of Her.
You woke up again in the middle of the night due to noises coming from Lay's room. You grumbled and
turned over, mentally cursing Suho for being so loud. Whatever he was doing this time was louder than
usual. Surely one didn't make that much noise simply collecting items! You heard a loud bang followed
by a curse and a shushing whisper. Your eyes snapped wide open as you realized the curse had been from
a female voice. It had been made very clear to the guardians that only Suho and Kris had permission to
enter Lay's room. Whoever was in there now, was an intruder. Was it a sasaeng fan? Was it an ambush?
If it was just a fan, the security guards would have caught them. This only left one option. An enemy planet
was ambushing EXO right now. But wait, surely if this was an ambush it wouldn't be so secretive and quiet.
No, whoever was in that room must have been scouts for the enemy. Although you were afraid, you knew
what you had to do. EXO had always protected you, and now it was your turn to protect them.
Grabbing the thickest book you could find, you tiptoed to the door in your pajamas, slowly peeking through
the crack in the door. They were still inside Lay's room, and you breathed a sigh of relief. The large doors
swung open gently as you crept out of your room, and approached the door to Lay's. You took a deep breath,
it was now or never. You silently opened the door and moved smoothly towards the figures. There were
two of them, though you couldn't see their faces. You crept up behind the taller one and raised the book
above your head, and without a second thought, brought it down as hard as you could on the top of their
head.
"Ow!" The figure cried out, a lower voice. He clutched his head and bent over as you dropped the book
out of shock. That didn't work as well as you had hoped. The man whirled around to see who had attacked
him, and that was when your gazes locked. That was when you realized it was him.
When you realized it was Lay.
Within half a second, Lay had you wrapped in an embrace tighter than you thought possible, his head buried
in your shoulder and covered in your hair. You wrapped your arms around him too, burying your face in his
chest and letting his warmth engulf you. You inhaled his scent and felt yourself begin to shake when you
tried to speak. The second you opened your mouth a loud sob became muffled by his body. You could feel
your tears pouring out as you gripped his shirt, Lay pressing his lips to the top of your head as he felt them
too. You could feel something wet drip onto your head, and that was when you realized that Lay was crying
too.
Your breathing was shaky and so was his, as he finally released you from his tight embrace and looked into
your eyes. Your lips were quivering as you gazed back, his brown eyes swimming with vibrant emotion.
"Lay, you -" But your fragile question was cut short by Lay's passionate lips on yours, moving rhythmically
and lovingly. His kiss reassured you that everything would be ok, that he would stay by your side and most
importantly that he didn't love you any less than before. If it was even possible, he loved you more. You moved
your lips against his and you felt him smile as he brought his hands up to cup your face and bring you closer
to him. Your heart began to pound against your chest and you were becoming breathless with his intense and
passionate kisses. You pulled away, panting and out of breath, before Lay rested his forehead against yours
and kissed the tip of your nose.
"I'm sorry..." He panted. "I'm sorry I didn't remember you when you bumped into me that day. I'm sorry it took
me so long to remember, and I'm so, so sorry that I just left you here. I love you ____ and I'll never stop, do
you understand?" You nodded with your eyes closed and he wiped the tears from your eyes. "I promised you;
As long as we both have our roses, nothing can ever separate us. We may be apart in body, but never in soul."
Lay brought his hand out of his pocket and clasped the dainty silver rose locket around your neck, not breaking
eye contact with you. His pocket featured a bright red rose that had kept since long ago. "And I never
break my promises." Your eyes began to water again and you hugged Lay close to you again to hide your tears.
You were so happy he was back, ecstatic even. But you knew something wasn't right. The second figured peered
from around the side of Lay's four-poster bed, but quickly darted back into hiding when you made eye contact.
Your face said everything Lay needed to know. He swept you back up in his arms again.
"I'll explain everything later." He whispered. "But yes, that was Amber. And she is alive." You suddenly felt weak
after everything that had happened, and let yourself fall inside Lay's arms. Lay's arrival and the news of Amber
was too much to handle in one night, especially since you were weary from waking up during a sleep cycle.
"Are you ok?" Lay asked, his voice showing concern. You nodded frailly and let Lay pick you up bridal style,
carrying you out the door to your room. You wrapped your arms around his neck to steady yourself and rested
your head against his chest, enjoying being able to be close to Lay for the first in a long time.
"When I was on earth, I thought about you everyday." Lay said quietly, the low pitch of his voice showing.
"But you didn't remember me..." You said weakly, your voice breaking slightly.
"I know, but... It's like even though I knew nothing about you, I was still falling in love with you everyday all
over again." You looked up to see Lay gazing down at you with love filling his eyes. He was telling the truth,
and you knew it. He gently set you down on your bed, pulling your soft sheets over your body and kissing your
forehead sweetly.
"Get some rest, ok?" he whispered, his lips lingering near your skin. He stood up and turned around, taking a
step forward to exit the door. You cried out and used a lot of your remaining energy to grab his hand.
"Please don't go..." You said quietly, your voice fragile and tired. You had already almost lost Lay once, to let
him out of your sight now was out of the question. You never wanted him to leave your side ever again. He
smiled and let go of your hand as you turned over on your side. You felt the mattress sag behind you, and two
gentle arms wrap around your waist as Lay snuggled his head into your back. You rested your hands over his
and closed your eyes, letting his warmth comfort you to sleep. Lay smiled against your back and let out a soft
breath.
"I love you, ____" He said in a quiet, slightly husky voice.
"I love you too." You whispered back, and let his sweet and loving embrace lull you to sleep.
~*~*~
"HOLY ING !" Xiumin's alarmed voice sent you sitting bolt upright in your bed. He stood at the
doorway to your room, flattened against the wall from shock. Before you could so much as speak, Xiumin
had grabbed you from your bed and held you in a protective lock. You managed to look over and see a shirtless
Lay still asleep in your bed, his face hidden by the pillow.
"THERE'S A MAN IN YOUR BED AND THERE WASN'T ONE LAST NIGHT! OH MY GOD DO YOU
REALIZE THAT!? WHO IS THIS VILE CREATURE OF THE DEEP!? " Xiumin screamed. "OH GOD,
DID HE TOUCH YOU!? DID HE DEFILE MY SWEET INNOCENT FLOWER!?" You pounded on Xiumin's
chest until he released you, and ran over to your bed to protect Lay in case Xiumin decided to attack.
"Calm down oppa! You cried, loud enough to finally make Lay wake up. He rolled over and sleepily opened his
eyes, only to see a very panicked hyung staring back at him.
"LAY!? LAY IS HERE!?" Xiumin cried, flailing his arms about. "LAY IS IN YOUR BED? WHAT'S GOING
ON HERE!?" Xiumin finally freaked himself out enough to fall flat on his face, unconscious on the floor. You
ran over to him and rolled him onto his back, looking up at Lay.
"I can't see any bruises, will you help me get him somewhere better?" Lay didn't answer, he stayed staring at
your doorway with unreadable eyes. You followed his line of vision and looked behind you at what he could see.
Every other guardian staring back from your doorway, all eyes on Lay.
