“Thank you for attending this event. With all of your gained support, the Byuns' will run for longer than fifty years. Together, we can achieve the impossible. As the famous entrepreneur, Walt Disney, who I greatly look up to once said, all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Finally, I would like to leave you all with a personal favorite of mine—Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars.” Mr. Byun brought his speech to a conclusion as he stepped away from the microphone and began descending the stairs. Out of common courtesy, everybody clapped. When he reached the bottom of the stage, the music began playing on cue.

            I felt a hand cuff my wrist before I got hauled onto the dance floor. The soles of my heels were becoming abrasive thanks to the tow across the marbled flooring. I looked up to the opposite person to me—Kim Jong In. He flashed me a small smirk before taking my hands and wrapping them around his neck. His arms soon spiraled around my waist as he held me close.

            I could feel his hot breath fanning across my lips. We were only inches away from each other—our heads nearly touching. Every feature of Kai’s perfectly sculpted face was so close, so real. I had to fight the urge to touch his face. His steady heartbeat thumped loudly, as did mine. We swayed to the soothing voices of Snow Patrol. There was silence, but oddly enough, a comfortable kind of silence. That moment was beautiful in every way. We weren’t bickering or teasing each other. Both of us were in mutual muteness. It was…peaceful.

            For the time being, two separate hearts were now bounded together as one.

            I looked at Kai one last time. I know it wasn’t just me feeling this way. It was the both of us.

            Krystal enviously looked on at the scene unfolding before her. Hana and Kai were only inches apart, and from a faraway glance, they looked like they were so in love. But Krystal knew better than that. Kai was a Casanova. Soon enough, he would treat Hana like trash. Soon enough, he would make his way slowly back to her.

            She let out a small scoff. “At least I get to dance with him for the last dance.” This thought comforted Krystal. It evaporated her insecurity. Casting her eyes back on the couple dancing tranquilly on the dance floor, Krystal wickedly laughed. “If he’s not giving Hana up, I’ll force her to give him up.”

            Surely Kai wouldn’t mind if Sehun stole Hana for the last dance. Sehun wanted to make a good first impression on Hana, which would later on act as beneficial for him. Looking around him, he saw that many of the businesspeople were casting him funny glimpses. Right, of course. His father was in jail.  It would definitely look odd if a son of a prisoner was dancing with one of the most acclaimed females in South Korea.

            Brushing these negative thoughts aside, Sehun readied himself to ask Hana. The MC of the night stepped onto the stage with the spotlight directly shined on him. His mouth moved; the words were projected by the many speakers in the ballroom. “This concludes the Byun’s gala. Thank you all for coming and hope to see you all next year. We will now leave you with Se7en’s When I Can’t Sing.”

            Sehun ambled over to Hana and Kai. Just as he was about to tap Hana’s shoulder, a female adorned in a halter dress stepped in between the assumed couple.
