Jaejoong POV

After talking to the other guys and my manager, I decided that it would be better for me to announce publicly that I was seeing someone before revealing who it was. At least then we could judge the reaction my fans had before involving Jaeki at all. It had taken almost a whole day to convince everyone on both my side and Jaeki’s that this was the best solution. Having set the press conference for today, I was waiting in a room behind the hall where all the reporters were waiting.

Just as I was about to leave for the hall, my phone vibrated.

From: Jaegiya~

Jaejoong! Good luck with the reporters! I’ll be waiting with the other four in the car! I hope everything turns out okay! Good luck, again, and I love you!~^^

I smiled and stuffed my phone back into my pocket before heading out to face the thirty-something reporters that had no idea I was about to give the best story of the month.

I was never really one to beat around the bush, so after a brief introduction and greeting, I looked straight into the expecting eyes of the reporter right in front of me and said the six words that none of them were expecting.

“I am currently in a relationship.”

The entire hall fell silent for a good ten seconds before all hell broke loose.

“Do you mean to say you have a girlfriend?”

“Who is she?”

“Is she a celebrity as well?”

“Is she older than you?”

“Is she Korean?”

“Is this a ruse to cover up your homoual nature as well as current relationship with DBSK leader, Jung Yunho?”

They were bombarding me with questions and I could barely hear any of them properly, but the last one really made me laugh.

I managed to control my laughter and continued, “yes, I have a girlfriend, we’ve been together for almost a year. For now, I won’t be revealing whether or not she’s a celebrity. No, she’s younger than me and yes, she’s Korean. Lastly, no, I am not gay and Yunho and I are not a couple, so yes, this girl is really my girlfriend. Thank you all for taking the time to be here this afternoon, I will be taking my leave now.”

As I bowed and left through the side door, the camera flashes were almost blinding and the room was in utter chaos. I smiled slightly as I left the venue and I could only hope that this was a good idea after all.

~That night~

The reporters were very efficient, articles were out barely five hours since I announced the news. As I read through a couple of the articles on the more established news sites, I couldn’t help but laugh at the shocked tone most of the articles held. When I finally worked up the courage to look at the comments, I almost screamed in joy. While there were the occasional “who is the girl, how could she steal Jaejoong oppa?” and “I don’t even know who it is, but I hate her already” and several other variations to the same effect, most of the comments were positive and I couldn’t help but be proud of all my fans at the moment.

Immediately, I opened a new tab to post a message on twitter.

Two minutes later I was reading through the replies and I could barely contain my excitement, because a positive response meant we could go public soon!

I was at the dining table, where we had the best Internet connection in the apartment, when the other guys came back from doing a radio broadcast.

Changmin was the first to speak, “hyung, you didn’t even greet us. How rude”, he mock-glared at me.

“Hyung, you look really creepy smiling to yourself…” Junsu’s voice trailed off as I glanced up at them.

“Guys, you need to come look at this!” I grinned and gestured for them to come to the table.

“I wish you and your girlfriend all the best, oppa!”

“Hope you guys last a long time!”

“Oppa! Please tell us her name? She’s such a lucky girl!”

“Ahhhh I envy your girl, oppa T.T But you seem happier these days, so I guess it’s all good~^^”

“I bet she must be really pretty right? Oppa, all the best to you and your girlfriend!”

“Whoever she is, if she breaks your heart make sure to tell us, we’ll scold her for you! Kekeke just joking oppa, hope you guys last a long time~^^”

“Oppa, PLEASE tell us who she is! We want to know T.T”

“Please show us a picture, oppa? We’re all dying of curiosity here!”

As they took turns reading out random replies, they started to smile and by the end of it, all five of us were grinning like the Cheshire cat!

I texted Jaeki to tell her about the response and we started discussing when to tell everyone that we were together. We decided that we’d give it a week to let my fans get used to the idea of me dating someone first. I, for one, could hardly wait to let people know. I knew it would be hard on both of us, Jaeki especially, but I wanted everyone to know that we were a couple. I wanted everyone to know that we belonged to each other.
