"That is pretty incredible," you whispered, "Is Stilla the one in all of your paintings?" Lay nodded his head, sighing heavily. "She's the most beautiful being I have ever known. Um, no offense to you." You laughed at his nervous politeness. "None taken. But wow, I cannot imagine what it must have been like to see you in action! You were the healer who discovered the cure to the mangle plague that spread several years ago, weren't you?"
He chuckled, "I was indeed. The Maker Spirit directed me to venture out and discover different plants which had never been combined before. I knew that even if I healed my tribe by my power alone, no other tribe would benefit from it." You stared at him, completely amazed at how gifted he was. It truly inspired you to pursue using your abilities to help all of humanity.
"But, why were you afraid of us finding out you were the one we sought?" you asked, "Surely you interpreted the prophecy before we did." Standing to his feet, Lay moved so that he could gaze through the window up to the moonlight sky. "I am frightened," he whispered. Moving to stand beside him, you gazed upon his countenance. "About what?" you questioned.
"Of what is to come," he said firmly, his eyes fixed upon the silver moon, which seemed to accentuate his hetrochromatic irises. "I am the soon to be protector of the Forest of Yewlen. And not only that, but Stila is my highest priority. What if I leave and someone or something murders her?" he said, clenching his fits that rested on the window sill. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened." Just the thought of it caused him to be on the verge of tears.
"Stila's destiny is inevitable. Just like anyone elses," you said, resting a hand upon his. "There is a time to stay, and a time to go. There is time for battle, and also for peace. A time to live, and time to die. Each occurs uniquely to the individual, but no one is excluded from experiencing them. That applies to me, Stila, and to you. Right now, you and I have been called to bring peace during a time of tribulation. And although I cannot tell you specifics, I know it is part of your destiny."
Lay finally built up the courage to tear his eyes away from the moon to look at you. You smiled gently and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. "Lay, you have been called to heal the world, and have been blessed with an extraordina
