Of The Guardians: Inheritor [Being Made Into a Novel Series]“It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
- Anne Frank, A Diary of a Young Girl
"Kris is awake!" you sang as you entered the healing area of the house. "That's fantastic!" Suho exclaimed excitedly as he stood up abruptly. However, he accidentally threw the cup in his hands into the air in his eagerness. The cup spun in the air, and the cloudy, green liquid inside it sloshed out towards your face. "Ah!" you squeaked, protecting your face with your hands. But the liquid never touched your face. After a few seconds of waiting, you opened your eyes to see the green water suspended in midair, droplets and large amounts gathered into one ball, which Suho took in his hand and placed back into the cup.
"Oops, sorry. My bad," he chuckled uneasily as he gave you a weak smile before moving to a patient's bed, a small, brown-haired girl. He lifted her small frail body up and tilted her head back as he placed the cup at her lips and helped her drink. "There you go. Drink all of it; it's good for you," he encouraged as the girl finished the liquid. "Good girl; now go back to sleep," he said, smiling as he gave her a light pat on the head. The little girl's brown eyes brightened up before she nodded and closed her eyes. Suho tucked her back in bed before taking the cup to the small sink. He washed the cup before he took some light purple leaves and some orange blossoms, tossing them into a boiling pot of water.
"You seem like a natural physician," you chimed. He turned his gaze over to you and smiled. "I've always had a thing for medicines and natural remedies. It was just something I picked up while working in the Great Library. I would read healing books in my free time," he explained as he dried the cup and went over to the pot of water, mixing it.
"Hi, Kora!" Luhan hollered from the other side of the room as he ran over and tackled you in a hug. Kai trailed close behind. "I'm guessing by your attitude that you know that Kris is awake?" you giggled as you pet his hair before he released you. "I assumed so because you're out of his room! I'm happy to hear that he's fine!" Luhan sighed in relief. "Hopefully, he recovers fully," Kai added, giving an approving nod. "Aw, come on; lighten up a little!" you laughed, nudging his arm. He looked at you and gave you a bright grin. "Fine," he chuckled.
"So, do you know when he'll be able to leave his bed?" Suho asked hopefully. You shook your head. "I'm afraid not, but he probably will need to stay here for a few more days maybe. Two at the most, I would assume," you replied, sighing. "Well, his injuries were rather extreme. So what should we do in the meantime?" Luhan asked, a glint of excitement in his eyes, ready for an adventure. "You came here to find a Cyreen. Right?" a husky voice asked from behind the group.
You all turned to face Tao, a darkened expression on his face. I guess someone still hasn't changed yet. You all nodded your heads. "There are some who live here in the east side of the city." You raised your eyebrows. "Really?" you questioned. He nodded. "Well, can you take us to-" you began to ask. "No!" he snapped abruptly. You s
