Chaeyoung made her way towards their bedroom, stacking two boxes on top of one another in order to finish this terrible, terrible task before the morning ended. It was annoying, but she didn’t mind, honestly there was nothing that could ruin her day today. Why you ask? Well because today was the day they have been working for pretty much since they met, today they were finally taking the next step in their relationship and its future.

Jisoo had finally gotten an amazing modelling gig with Dior and that opened several doors for her, obviously the economic benefits were amazing.  Chaeyoung from her side had finally taken the plunge and installed her first gallery, all the beautiful pieces she had been stocking up had seen the light of day and received praises from the most famous critics, needless to say they were now ready for an upgrade. 

Really it was Jisoo who brought the subject up, they were having dinner one night on the couch as per usual, when Jisoo stumped her foot on the corner of one’s of Chae’s paintings, cursing loudly she made her way to the couch and sat fell besides Chaeyoung with her plate of spaghetti.

“Why are we still living here?” Jisoo asked annoyed, her fork working madly on getting spaguetti. “There’s no space, everything is falling apart and the rent keeps going up thanks to the stupid mall a few blocks down.” 

“Because it’s all we could afford during college.” The blonde girl answered simply, crossing her legs and reaching for her plate. “At least we can afford actual food now instead of instant noodles.” 

“You love instant noodles.”

“Just because you love chicken and can have it all day, everyday doesn’t mean I can do the same thing with instant noodles.”  

“But seriously though.” Jisoo started adjust herself on the couch and turned to look at her girlfriend. “Why are we still here?” She asked, looking at the blonde. “Baby, we can afford something better now, with your artwork taking off and my paycheck from the Dior event we can easily get a house now.” 

“Seriously?”

“Yes! Think about it…” She gets leaves her plate on the living room table and doing the same to Chaeyoung’s plate, she then gets closer and hold the blonde’s hands. “We can finally get a house with high ceilings and big windows, a big backyard..”

The blonde couldn’t help the smile that took over her face, the way the older girl’s eyes where looking far away as if imagining their future and just the way her whole face lit up at the thought of that made Chaeyoung’s heart beat a mile per minute.

And that’s how the blonde found herself packing the stuff in their room and carrying them down, to the u-haul they rented parked down stairs. After walking back up stairs, she sees Jisoo taping the couple of boxes on the kitchen. 

Chaeyoung, looked around the small apartment, the memories that they shared here were irreplaceable. From the day they moved in, to their first christmas, to the day Jisoo spent some of the rent money on buying a fancy meal that they ate while sitting on the floor because they didn’t have enough money to furnish the apartment other than the bed. 

“Oh my God.” Jisoo said, snapping the blonde out of her thoughts.

“What?”

“Look at what I just found, Chaeyoungie.” She said, her hand gesturing for the blonde to stand next to her. 

“Oh yeah, I kept it after the first night we spent together.” Said Chaeyoung taking the old object from the older girls hand and tracing it softly. 

It was a very old coaster from a long gone restaurant, it was a memento Chaeyoung kept from the day they first met….

‘I remember seeing your profile, sorry if I wasn’t subtle, it was summer and I was dying of thirst,

when I saw you all I wanted was to drink from you and get drunk on you.’

It was her first spring break after getting into art college, since Chaeyoung wasn’t really into partying she decides to stay in the city this time. She’s been sitting at this cafe for sometime now doodling on her sketchbook and she’s not exactly sure what’s happening but this gorgeous brunette girl from across the place keeps glancing her way and smiling when Chaeyoung caughts her looking at her. When the other girl winks at her, the blonde can’t help but blush and try to hide her face with her hair making the other girl chuckle.

When she looks up the girl glances at the empty chair in front of Chaeyoung. Taking the hint the blonde smiles and nods shyly. The brunette then smiles back and takes her book and drink to carry them over at her new table.

“Hey.” The girl greets once she’s seated in front of Chaeyoung’s chair.

“Hi.”

“We’ve been crossing looks all morning, and we are both alone… figured we should do something about it.” The other girl says.

“Did you now?

“Yep.” She says. “I’m Jisoo.” She continues extending her hand towards the other girl.

“Chaeyoung.” The blonde says, shaking the other girls hand. For Chaeyoung it might’ve sound cliche but she swears she could feel electricity run from her hand, up her arms and down her spine the moment their hands touch and judging by how neither girl wants to let go she figures the other girl did too.

“So…” Jisoo says after a few moments of silence, looking around a noticing how the cafe was quiet and low on customers. “No plans for spring break?”

“Not really.” Chaeyoung shrugs. “I just moved into my dorm, figure it was better if I stayed and got to know the city.” 

“Get to know the city?” Jisoo asked interested. “Are you not from here?”  She had already figured out the girl was a foreigner what the small hint of her accent.

The conversation flew easily from there, Jisoo was genuinely interested in what Chaeyoung had to say, asking her everything she could about Australia, she did the same thing when answering the questions the blonde had.  Chaeyoung learned Jisoo was an aspiring model and was also a theatre major, she also learned the girl was incredibly funny and a pikachu fan based on the drawing the girl had tried to do on her drink coaster. Jisoo learned Chae was an art major and she left her home city to go looking for adventure on the place her parents once called home, she also learned the girl had the most adorable laugh and the most beautiful smile she had ever seen. 

“Chaeyoung you said you are looking for adventure.” Jisoo said with a small smile. “How you’d like to go on one with me, right now?” 

Chaeyoung stared at her surprised, yet thinking about it, she really doesn’t not why or how but the she feels a connection with the girl in front of her and it might just be her naiveness talking but she feels that if she says yes this girl just might change her life forever.  And so trusting her gut she took a deep breath and looked and the brunette with a smile.

“Where are we going?”

And I don't know, if it was destiny or if it was luck that me being a stranger I said I love you,

I´ve looking for you for over a hundred years and you answered ´Where are we going?´

“I still can’t believe I said yes to a complete stranger.” Chaeyoung said after her brief trip to memory lane. 

“I’m charming like that.” Jisoo said cheekily pulling the blonde closer to her by the waist and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

“For all I know you could’ve been a serial killer.” 

“Right… But Chaeyoungie… did you die?” 

“Oh shut up.” She said pushing her away lightly still lookin at the contents of the box. “Baby, look!”  Chaeyoung said afterwards excitedly, pulling out something else from the box. “You gave me this remember!” There on the blonde’s hand was a very old, very worn out plush pikachu toy that had definitely seen better days. 

“I can’t believe you still have this.” Jisoo said taking the toy.  “This was our first official date, I think.”

Against all bets here we stay, Partying after the summer where you answered, ´where are we going?´

She should’ve known that someone like Jisoo doesn’t give up easily.  Based on how many dollars she has spent on this game, Chaeyoung has already gone through one corn dog, some popcorn and a funnel cake which she shared with Jisoo by feeding her on the mouth while she played. 

She watches as the bored teenager hands Jisoo another a ball, which she inspected with the carefulness of an actual scientist. Without another second's notice, the ball was tossed at the bottles but none of the bottles moved at all.

Jisoo stomped her foot. "Are you kidding me?! I definitely hit those. You saw it!" She turned to Chaeyoung for support. She’s trying to look angry but honestly she looks endearing with the frown of her face and the silly bear ear hair band she’s wearing.

"That's how they get you, Chu" The blonde said chuckling  "They're glued together."

"Nuh uh. Nope. I'm going again. I will knock them down."

"But I’m bored." She said pouting.

"I promise to win you a bear, so I will win you a Goddamn bear!" Jisoo have a kiss to her cheek and whispered. “I’ll make it up to you.” Before turning her attention back to the teenager  "Another ball!"

And so, Chaeyoung stood back and watched as ball after ball bounced against the stack of milk bottles to little effect. Jisoo has run out of dollars and was going through Chaeyoung’s  reserve right now. 

"All right, lady. That’s enough tries, i’m tired and the rest of the customers too so please just take something and leave.”

"What? No. I wanted to win, listen here you little…”

“Oh my God! Please just give us the pikachu.” The blonde said, already done with waiting and if this teenager was giving her a chance to finally go to another game she was going to take it. “Come on let’s go, I want another funnel cake.”

"Sorry I didn’t get you the bear." Jisoo said dejectedly.

“It’s the gesture that counts." She says “No one’s ever gone broke for me so, Thanks.”

Jisoo smiled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as they walked back to the parking lot. 

"Let's get you some Pho, Chae. I owe you."

As they walked Chaeyoung held Jisoo’s hand that was resting on her shoulder and the pikachu close to her chest with the other.

As far as first official dates go, this was the best she’s ever been on.

Better nights, I don't think exist, and even if I ask for another beer, I

'm only interested in drinking from you and getting drunk like this from you.

“There are so many things in here.” Chaeyoung said. Looking at the mementos they had kept through their relationship, there was concert tickets that she saved, because that was the first night Jisoo said I love you to her, there was also some very old sketches chaeyoung had done that Jisoo refused to throw out because they were done by Chaeyoung for her.

As Chaeyoung kept looking she frowned as she reached for the object she had never seen, it was a small black box. She stares at it for a few seconds deliberating if she should open it or not, ultimately her curiosity wins and when she opens the box a beautiful ring is there with a very shiny diamond on it… 

“You know…I’ve dreamt that I married you last night.” Chaeyoung snaps to look at Jisoo surprised, her heart beating a mile a minute. 

“Chu…” She says quietly and the older girl steps closer.

“I’ve had the same dream for several nights now.” She continues “I’ve dreamed different scenarios, once I took you to the aquarium, another time I thought maybe the classic dinner and a movie is okay” She takes the box from Chaeyoung’s hands. “I bought this three months ago, the day after I had the first dream.”

Jisoo looks at the ring for a second then looks back at the blonde beginning her speech. “I remember the exact point I fell in love with you, it was the same moment I realized I wanted to spend my life with you, grow old with you, raise a family with you. It was on a small cafe near campus I was there after finishing a very unprofessional shoot in a very sketchy place.” She said with a hint of a smile. “My day at point had been awful, but then this beautiful Aussie girl looked at me and smiled at me and I swear my day, my life was done right there and then.”

A rush of warmth shot through Chaeyoung’s body. They had talk about this before  but she didn’t think her girlfriend would do it anytime soon.

Jisoo then went down on one knee and the blonde could only gasp in response, her eyes watering. “Chae, you make me happier than I ever though I could be, you are my best friend, my soulmate… my home. I can think of a thousand proposal scenarios but it wouldn’t matter because all I want is you…forever. So Chaeyoung Park, will you marry me?” 

The blonde stays stunned for a few seconds, when she finally regains consciousness all she can do is utter one word. “Yes.” Before pulling Jisoo to her feet  pressing her entire body to her girlfriend’s…fiance, and placed her arms around her, the brunette’s closing around her waist. The kiss was soft and deliberate, the kind that left you feeling lightheaded and weak in the knees, she couldn’t help but smile into it.

“This wasn’t planned at all right?” She said against her lips.

“Nope, I honestly forgot the ring was there.”

“Damn you and your improvising skills.”

“You love it though.”

“I do.”

And although the story was not planned, we are the proof that there is love at first sight.
