epilogue
the aster and the sunflower.Flowers.
Jennie was never fond of flowers, they were merely an object of gratification and adoration that people would buy to express their feelings for a certain loved one. To her they were simply living organisms created by the process of photosynthesis, nothing more and nothing less. To her they were just meant to grow, to blossom then wilt and sprout into a new one. They didn’t mean anything to Jennie.
But that was before her sister told her to bring her sunflowers. Her sister was a fan of such living things that Jennie shrugged off the idea and simply gave in to her request, not expecting anything in return. But she found something powerful in them. For flowers had brought her the love of her life.
Jennie sits in the passenger seat, her hands raised up high in the air as she lets the cool breeze rush through them, allowing herself to enjoy the moment as they drive to Benny’s; they had a great adventurous night of broad way and picture taking, now it was exactly 4:30 in the morning in New York City, it was mid-December, and it was beginning to snow but not hard enough so it was fine for them to fold up the convertible. As of the moment the lights that illuminated the city were mainly Christmas lights and the ones from certain apartments and lamp posts. It was a quiet morning, and it made Jennie’s heart flutter.
“Are you excited for next month?” Lisa asked her fiancé
Jennie smiled goofily as she nodded and showed her gummy smile.
“Yes, love” Jennie replied sweetly
“I can’t wait to marry you” Lisa said, Jennie then intertwined her hands with Lisa’s as she slowly kissed the back of her fiancé’s hand.
Lisa blushed which made Jennie blush too. They were literally in their late 20’s yet they still had the ability to blush madly like school girls. Lisa then parked the car at Benny’s; it was the same as usual and it gave Jennie the same feelings like when she first came here. Sometimes she comes here alone whenever Lisa’s busy at work or when Jennie simply feels the need to have some time to herself whenever she’d feel lost and her chest felt heavy, Sally has grown so much on Jennie as well, sometimes the old lady would sit down with Jennie and tell her stories of her life which the gamer enjoyed very much; she even found out about Sally almost taking her life when she was young and depressed; she was much like Jennie, where the world threw her almost all of the problems known to man, but what inspired Jennie the most was Sally’s ending statement one night when Jennie was having a rough time with life in general.
“You are given one life to live, we do not know if there is life after, so don’t waste this lifetime, this isn’t a rehearsal, you’re given once chance and I want you to live your life just like how you want it”
“Ah Benny’s” Lisa said as she dragged Jennie
Grabbing her manual camera, Jennie snapped a photo of her Lisa walking towards the diner, she had caught the perfect shot because Lisa had on cue turned around to face her and smile at her. Her hair was now dark brown, she wasn’t wearing specs or anything, she was simply wearing a thick winter coat and snow boots, her cheeks were rosy red and she looks absolutely stunning.
“They’re having their Christmas special” Lisa said excitedly as she pointed at the poster on the wall which starred a large chocolate milkshake with chocolates and a swirly straw on top.
“I’ll be giving you a much better Christmas special later when we get home” Jennie whispered to Lisa’s ear which made her turn red, Jennie winked at her and kissed her lips
“Y-Yah!” Lisa exclaimed which made Jennie laugh
“It’s cute that you’re still shy about it, I mean, we’ve been doing it for so long already” Jennie said
“Oh my gosh, Jennie, stop discussing about our life!” Lisa exclaimed, luckily they haven’t entered the diner yet
Jennie laughed harder.
“Love, I was talking about the ham, I mean, I
