chapter XXIII: regret?
the aster and the sunflower.Joy.
Lisa peeked outside and caught a glimpse of the two girls hugging it out tightly, Lisa’s heart swelled with joy as she grabbed her manual camera and snapped a photo of the two. On the sound of the shutter, Jennie’s head perked up and turned around to see Lisa, the Thai simply smiled at her.
Jennie then released her mother and then approached Lisa and dragged her to the living room, with Kuma trailing from behind them both.
“Mom…this is Lisa Manoban, my girlfriend” Jennie said
Lisa blushed at the sudden confession, but as a sign of respect, Lisa bowed down 90 degrees and smiled shyly at Jennie’s mother who looked at them in awe. Bora then proceeded to engulf Lisa in a hug which surprised the florist.
“Thank you for taking care of my daughter and for loving her. Please continue to do so” Bora whispered
Lisa looked at Jennie who was showing her gummy smile. Lisa didn’t really expect she would be looking at such a scene in front of her. 5 years ago if someone told her she’d fall in love with a mysterious gamer who knew nothing about the Breakfast Club and Frank Sinatra songs, Lisa would’ve laughed, yet here she was, deeply in love with one. It’s crazy, going through family drama and death once again, and now another family drama. It was indeed a challenge to be with Jennie, because she has to endure everything that Jennie has to, but Lisa paid no mind to the ‘hardships’ at all, because all that mattered was that she’s with Jennie through it all, and she would gladly welcome every single happy and sad moment with open arms as long as Jennie’s by her side. And it’s such a bonus to be able to be a witness of a great moment like this, where mother meets daughter for the first time, and where they reunite and find peace in one another.
As they pulled away from the hug, Lisa smiled and held Bora’s hands.
“Your daughter is like an abandoned arcade game that I would not have paid attention to before, as I am like an old vinyl record that has not been played at all, we met at opposite ends and found something in each other that has made us stay together” Lisa started, the poet coming out, making Jennie blush madly
“I will always love and take care of your daughter” Lisa assured her
“Thank you” Bora said
Lisa smiled as she felt Jennie hug her from behind, Lisa blushed at the action.
“Love, your mom is literally in front of us” Lisa muttered, making both Kim’s laugh
“You guys are really cute, I’m so stoked for grandkids, you know?” Bora teased as she wiggled her eyebrows and smiled wickedly
“Mom!” Jennie whined as she hid her face behind Lisa’s back
“Ms. Kim, I swear to God, we have not yet gone that far” Lisa defended nervously
“Not even second base” Jennie added
Bora burst out laughing at the two’s shyness.
“You guys are in your mid-twenties yet you still act so adorable and innocent. Babies, do know that whatever you do, it’s fine with me as long as you don’t break the bed and keep your handcuffs to yourselves” Bora said in a teasing manner
Jennie and Lisa’s eyes widened at ‘handcuffs’, making them both blush madly.
“Mom, w-we’re not that couple. This isn’t Fifty Shades” Jennie said through gritted teeth, heck, this was her first time to be embarrassed by a mother figure, and it was amusing to Bora.
