chapter XXVI: Thailand
the aster and the sunflower.Plane.
“This shouldn’t be your first time riding a plane” Lisa stated as she flinched when Jennie’s grip on her hand tightened as the plane they were riding was taking off.
Will I survive this death grip? Who knows? Lisa thought
“That doesn’t mean I won’t be scared during take offs” Jennie said as she glared at her girlfriend who was giving her judgmental looks.
“Jennie, my 65 year old Dad is watching Inside Out as we’re taking off” Lisa said
“Yeah but your 27 year old best friend is hanging on to dear life too!” Jennie pointed out
Lisa turned around and saw Jisoo with her eyes closed as she held on to dear life…and by “dear life” they meant “Rosé” who was also trying her best not to look so in pain due to the tight grip. The maknaes were having a pretty hard morning. They were flying to Thailand today, Lisa finally wanted to put Jennie’s Christmas gift for her to use, and luckily Jisoo, Rosé, Bora and her father were able to book the same flight. This was also Lisa’s chance to get to see more of Thailand; even though she had been to her hometown a few times, she never really got to explore a lot since her main concern for going there was for her mother’s remains only.
The plane was then finally in the air. Only then did Jennie release Lisa and exhale.
“I’m gonna have to pray to all of our gods later at the temple for letting me survive such a death grip” Lisa said, Jennie then punched her arm hard
This is going to be a long flight. Lisa thought.
…
When they finally landed, Lisa and Rosé were lucky enough to survive the flight without any broken ribs or tibias and fibulas. The group then proceeded to grab something to eat at a restaurant that Lisa’s father had suggested, a name that Jennie cannot quite remember so let’s just leave it at that. And no doubt, Thailand is such a beauty, definitely far from New York, it was less noisy, less traffic, no annoying vendors by the street, and more peaceful, the people were beautiful too, helping each other out and giving tourists some honorifics, it’s definitely a place where Jennie would love to live in.
They all then decided to stroll around the streets of Thailand, exploring every single corner until they find something interesting, their adventure basically involved numerous picture taking and numerous complaints by Jisoo of wanting chicken, and numerous groans by Rosé who was pondering on why Jisoo is like that. They then went shopping, something that Bora and Rosé were very much excited about, not so much for Jisoo and Lisa, whilst Jennie and Lisa’s Dad were neutral with the decision, and of course it involved more complaining from Jisoo, but also more funny moments since Jisoo was assigned to ask discounts but all she would ever tell people was ‘mai mee tang ka’ which meant she’s a broke little twerp, but nevertheless, it was a joyous day for all.
Now they’re on their way to the Manoban’s ancestral house, it was found in a secluded place in a nearby forest, it definitely looked like a rest house in the province, the air was much fresher and the vibe was authentic, even.
Jennie then stepped into a simple but stunning ancestral house owned by the Manoban’s. It was a simple house, not too big, and not too small, a perfect house for three people, but what really caught Jennie’s attention was the beautiful garden in the backyard. Various kinds of flowers surrounded the backyard, a greenhouse was present as well, and butterflies happily flew around the garden whilst birds were nesting on the branches of the trees. It even had a little pond where lots of Joohwangies, as Rosé liked to call them, swam around.
“It’s Mom’s creation” Lisa said
“I pay a gardener to look after this garden since I rarely visit. Mom planted all these when she was 15 when her grandmother taught her how to do gardening, but she left this place too and flew to Korea, but she had a garden there too” Lisa said with a wide smile on her face
“It’s really beautiful, love” Jennie said
“Thanks. My Grandma and Grandpa had left this garden in my care, they always believed I could make this even more beautiful, but alas, I didn’t even need to, Mom did fairly well on her own” Lisa said
“I bet they’re happy looking down at you right now” Jennie said
“I bet right now in heaven my Grandpa paid my Grandma a thousand baht because she was right that I’d end up with a beautiful girlfriend” Lisa snickered “He always loses every bet” she added
“Ah just like you” Jennie said
“The legacy continues” Lisa said, laughing at how Jennie nodded approvingly, Lisa then led Jennie to a shrine-like gazebo, it sort of resembled the ones in Mulan, excluding the talking dragon and un
