chapter XIII: lumos
the aster and the sunflower.Light.
The Christmas Season was approaching which meant nights in New York were much chillier, Jennie always loved Christmas in New York, the city almost always seemed so happy about it; People dressed up as Santa would roam around the streets with a tin bucket hoping people would spare a little donation, then the malls would go all out on decorating, and the people in New York were very much interested in decorating their houses/apartments to really get into the spirit of Christmas.
“Are we going to a Hotel?” Lisa asked as she tilted her head and looked at the sign that was where they were heading
“Yep” Jennie said
Lisa quickly hugged herself and covered her body as she feigned ‘fear’.
“J-Jennie, I’m too young” Lisa said dramatically
Jennie rolled her eyes.
“We’re gonna camp out on the rooftop tonight. I’ve brought some extra clothes for us, I got us a room in case you don’t feel like camping out” Jennie explained as she parked the car, she then got out and grabbed the bag she prepared and handed it to Lisa who was just standing there looking crazily in love at Jennie.
“Wait, we’re gonna…camp? In a hotel?” Lisa asked, the idea was sort of odd
“On the rooftop” Jennie replied as if Lisa missed the most important detail
“You’re so odd” Lisa said, but with a smile
“It’s gonna be awesome, I tell you” Jennie said with much enthusiasm, and Lisa couldn’t but pinch Jennie’s cheeks which made the smaller one groan in annoyance
…
Lisa didn’t actually believe Jennie when she said they’d camp out in a hotel, but now here they are on the rooftop setting up the tent Jennie had brought along with her. Surprisingly, the hotel Jennie had brought her to have beach chairs and benches gathered along a circular place meant for a bonfire. They had already eaten the delicious dinner from room service and all of it was already placed aside.
Whilst Jennie was busy preparing the firewood, Lisa walked around the rooftop, they had it all for themselves tonight, it had a spectacular view of New York, they were at least 30 stories up and the city lights illuminated below as more flashing lights sped, the rush of cold wind struck her as she admired the beauty of the city that never sleeps, and she couldn’t help but tear up as she looked up and saw the moon at its fullest, illuminating them from above, with the stars scattered around the dark blanket that covered the sky at night.
Lisa then turned her attention back to the focused Jennie who was scrunching her nose as she bit her lip while finally putting up the tent, the smaller one stood up and let out a loud exhale as she placed both of her hands firmly on her hips; Jennie was now wearing gray sweatpants and an NYU sweatshirt and she was wearing these weird flip flops that were inspired by those green aliens from Toy Story.
Lisa can’t help but thank God every day for finally blessing her with someone as crazy as Jennie Kim. She first met this girl and found her beautiful, the latter on the other hand did not give a single damn about Lisa, she was cold and unforgiving, but Lisa did not give up, and she’s glad she fought and conquered Jennie because she finally gets to experience what it’s like to be taken care of by someone who sees her more than just a friend. Lisa’s heart flutters every time she realizes the efforts of the game developer, here she was always considering Lisa’s likes and always applying them in every possible way. Lisa knows for sure Jennie was never into vinyl records and old songs yet Jennie had bought a lot of vinyl records of The Beatles just because Lisa had suggested it; Jennie was never a fan of vintage things yet Jennie loved Benny’s Diner and the Drive-In Cinema date they had; Jennie was never interested in taking pictures using manual film cameras yet Jennie had bought them both a similar camera; Jennie never wrote someone a cheesy letter or anything but she went on and wrote Lisa sweet notes and made Floraison even more beautiful and special to her; Jennie doesn’t camp, obviously, yet here she was putting a lot of effort into putting up a tent, building a camp fire and making Lisa feel like a princess.
Lisa has intense feelings for Jennie.
And this time she’s not afraid of it.
I’m ready. Lisa thought as she chuckled at the girl who got scared of the fire that suddenly flared up.
…
Jennie scratched her head as she focused on roasting the marshmallows while Lisa was busy roasting Jennie. Figuratively of course.
“Just admit that you’ve had a crush on me ever since you walked in Floraison for the first time ever” Lisa teased as she tickled Jennie’s sides
“Says the girl who basically begged for my name the very moment I entered the shop” Jennie said as she stuck her tongue out
Lisa simply laughed and grabbed the blanket that Jennie had brought along, she then placed the blanket over their shoulders as she snuggled closer to Jennie who was blowing on the roasted marshmallow as she then took a bite.
“It’s hot!” Jennie whined as she fanned her tongue
Lisa just laughed more at the brunette.
“You are so adorable” Lisa said as she pinched Jennie’s cheeks and repeatedly kissed the side of her head making Jennie a blushing mess
“So are you done?” Jennie asked as she eyed the happy Manoban
“Yeah, I’m good” Lisa said with a little giggle
“My pain amuses you” Jennie stated
“I’d be lying if I said ‘no’” Lisa said as she burst out laughing again
“I get why Jisoo sometimes wants to kill you” Jennie pointed out
“But she loves me still” Lisa said with a grin
“A tragic story indeed” Jennie teased
Lisa just pouted which only made Jennie roll her eyes.
“Alright, how about we get random tonight?” Lisa said as she ate her roasted marshmallow
“Random…dancing?” Jennie asked. Lisa didn’t know what the she meant by that but Lisa never really thought Jennie would enjoy dancing, I mean, she had practically dragged the girl to dance back at Benny’s.
“What?” Lisa asked
“iCarly? Random dancing” Jennie said in such a Sam kind of way with matching hand gestures and body waves which made Lisa burst out laughing
“Good start at the randomness” Lisa said as she wiped away a tear
“Your turn then” Jennie said
“Hmm…do you ever think of an alternate universe wherein the first words your soulmate would tell you would be imprinted on your skin?” Lisa asked hypothetically<
