Awkward.

Awkward was an understatement for what Lisa was witnessing right now. Lisa carefully placed the tray of tea and some sandwiches on Jennie’s coffee table. They were currently at Jennie’s apartment, it’s around 7 in the evening already; things had gotten quite awkward back at the flower shop, luckily Lisa had convinced the both of them to settle it at a more comfortable place, which they both agreed to, but Jennie had to convince Lisa to stay with her throughout it all.

So here they were, Jennie was sitting on the small bean bag by the right whilst her possible mother was sitting on the long couch while sipping her tea. Lisa on the other hand stood by the kitchen door frame as she waited for the two to talk, but it seemed like it wasn’t gonna happen any time soon. Both of them were clearly in shock, especially Jennie. Since no one wanted to break the ice, Lisa decided to speak up.

“Ms. Kim?” Lisa called out

“Yes?” She said. The woman really does look a lot like Jennie, except for her eyes, Jennie’s eyes were cat like, almost piercing even, this woman had soft black orbs, but nonetheless, they looked similar, and Lisa knew Jennie knew this too.

“H-How did you find Jennie?” Lisa asked as she sat on the long couch as well

“I’ve been looking for her for such a long time, I was separated from my family because my father was not in good terms with the father of my child, so he sent me to New Zealand to study there, me and her father were both young when we had Jennie which gave my father more reason to separate us. When I had the child, he did not want me to have any relation with the child, he despised them so much” Jennie’s mother had started crying, pain and anger visible in her eyes

“But, Jennie’s father had died in a car crash. Did you not know about it?” Lisa asked as Jennie fidgeted in her seat, hugging herself tightly as she looked down on the floor

“I was disconnected from everyone in Seoul, I did not find out about the accident until just recently when my father died…he told me about the accident, he told me that my daughter was adopted by some Kim’s as well” Bora said as she wiped away her tears and looked at her daughter, Jennie.

“Did you not try to look for them earlier?” Lisa said, although it was not her place to ask such questions, Jennie was in no state to ask them, and it pained Lisa to see Jennie hurt once again.

A lot must be happening inside Jennie’s head right now.

“I tried every damn day, but my father was a strict man, I would not be allowed to have a phone, I was being guarded by his men until I graduated college, and he had my passport so I couldn’t escape” Bora said sadly

“How did you find Jennie though?” Lisa asked

“Like I said, when my father died he told me about the people who adopted my daughter, so I quickly tracked them down by the help of my friend, Kwon Jiyong, luckily he knows the Kim’s who adopted my daughter” Bora said

As Jennie heard GD’s name, her ears perked up and she shot her mother a glance.

“Jiyong Oppa?” Jennie said in such a small voice that Lisa found adorable

“Yes, do you know him?” Bora asked

“He’s my cousin” Jennie replied “He knew about you but didn’t tell me?” she added, slightly frowning at the sudden information

“No, I never told him about my daughter. He was a med student when I met him while I was visiting a client at the hospital he was on duty, he mentioned knowing the Kim’s and I just asked him if he knew Min Ha Kim and Woobin Kim, and he immediately told me that they were in New York, after that I left New Zealand and travelled here to look for them, and I just found them last week and they told me they had no daughter and then they told me to look for you in a flower shop called ‘Floraison’” Bora frowned at the last part, her eyes looking at Jennie for answers in which Jennie simply shook off

“I thought they had adopted you?” Bora asked

“They did. I’ve just had some issues with them…they lost a daughter 3 months ago. My sister, Ella Kim” Jennie said

Bora simply nodded, she was fidgeting in her seat as well, Lisa knew for sure these two were really mother-daughter, their actions and personality says it all.

“I’m gonna leave you two to discuss things” Lisa said as she stood up and made her way to Jennie’s room to accompany Kuma

Jennie was then left alone with her mother. In all honesty, Jennie does not know what to feel; should she be happy? I mean, her mother, her real mother is finally here, just when she thought she was back to being an orphan because her parents had abandoned her for her ual preference; yet God has presented her with her real mother, a possible person who could take care of her in a motherly way; a way that Jennie has not felt for such a long time now. But Jennie felt scared; what if her mother leaves her again? What if Jennie was never meant to be taken care of by a parent? Her father had died and left her alone, her foster parents had given her up the moment she told them something that was considered a deadly sin for them; her sister, the only family whom she loves more than her life, had left her too.

“How do I know you’re really my biological mother?” Jenn
