chapter XXXI: this moment
the aster and the sunflower.3 years had passed.
Jennie hunched down under her desk as she looked for her present for Lisa for their 3rd year anniversary, she was sure she had brought it with her to her office last week because Lisa was a nosy kid who liked to snoop over her things in her apartment, but now Jennie can’t seem to get hold of it.
“Oh come on, just show up already” Jennie mumbled
“Uh Unnie?”
Jennie jumped up, bumping her head in the process and groaning right after. Jennie stood up and rubbed her head as she glared at the laughing junior game developer, Dahyun.
“Oh man, that was funny” Dahyun teased
“Do you want me to hit your head with my desk too so I could laugh at you?” Jennie asked, by this time Dahyun was used to Jennie’s threats so she simply laughed and handed Jennie a yellow envelope.
Jennie then happily skipped her way to Dahyun and grabbed the envelope.
“Oh and by the way, the present you’re looking for is just right above your head” Dahyun said as she pointed up at the top shelf
Jennie face palmed herself as she thanked Dahyun and shooed her out of her office.
Jennie’s face lit up as she held opened the envelope and started reading its content.
“To my dearest Miss Sunflowers,
I first laid my eyes over a mystery that I thought I would never decipher; inevitable, that’s what you were. Yet you allowed me to figure out the contents of your life, the desires of your heart, the troubles that you’ve faced and the words that you’d speak.
You are my aster.
You are my aster, for you require patience, care, sacrifice and love; the core values needed for such a beauty like you. The Aster represents patience, elegance, daintiness and also indicates a variety of love. It was the first ever flower that I had planted in the soil of my mother’s garden in Seoul, Korea. But luckily, this time I was able to care for my aster better, and you’ve blossomed into a beautiful woman and an individual with immense strength and passion.
I have one favor though, would you mind walking to Floraison later? I’ll be waiting for you, my love.
Forever yours,
Old Soul
Jennie couldn’t help but tear up at the letter. A lot has definitely happened throughout the span of 3 years, it wasn’t always happy times, there would be petty fights and nonsense arguments and childish bickering, but they stood strong and fought through the trials.
Jennie then grabbed the present from the shelf and quickly logged out from work. She then walked to Floraison with a huge smile. The shop had not changed at all, it still caught a lot of people’s attention and the flowers bloomed even more. And as she entered the shop, she heard the familiar ring of the bell that signaled a customer has entered its premises, the refreshing aroma welcomed Jennie as ‘City of Stars’ played on the vinyl record player.
On cue, Lisa popped out from the counter; she was wearing a denim jacket over a white top tucked in high waist pants paired with her new white sneakers that Jennie had given her for her birthday last year, Lisa even incorporated wearing specs as her daily thing now, her hair was honey blonde still, and it rested along her shoulders.
Stunning. Jennie thought.
“Miss Sunflowers” Lisa greeted her happily
“Old Soul” Jennie greeted back with a grin
“So…forgotten anniversary? Birthday? Apology? Dead relative? Broke a flower vase? We also sell ceramic vases” Lisa stated with a grin
“Are those what people come in here for?” Jennie asked
“Yeah, but one time this girl named Jennie came in here and bought sunflowers and my heart along with her” Lisa said smoothly
Jennie giggled.
“I brought you something, you corny idiot” Jennie said as she handed Lisa the huge present
Lisa excitedly opened the present and gasped at its content.
It was a huge picture frame; it was of Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, Bora and her Dad, it was in their second night in Thailand where they all decided to have a barbeque in the garden of the Manoban’s ancestral house. Rosé and Jisoo had put on fairy lights and a firework show that night, and her Dad had grilled them the tastiest barbeque ever, it was the night that Bora and her had debated on who should sleep next to Jennie that night, it was hilarious and Lisa ended up losing (as always), it was definitely one of the nights Lisa would never forget. The memory screamed ‘home’. And now here it was in the flesh, the photograph was now more perfect, adding in that Brandon Woelfel type of style in photography.
“This is beautiful” Lisa said, her eyes sparkling from amazement
“Just like you” Jennie said
“Thank you” Lisa said as Jennie simply shrugged it off in such boyish manner
Lisa then grinned and quickly hung the frame on the wall. It blended in beautifully in Floraison, as if it was the missing piece in the shop.
Perfect. Lisa thought.
Lisa then turned to Jennie, she looked younger as years pass by, she was wearing gold rimmed eyeglasses now, her hair was cut shorter, and she was wearing a beige turtle neck underneath her brown leather jacket paired up with lack skinny jeans and brown combat boots. She looked like Nancy Drew and Lisa loved it.
“Wanna do something random?” Lisa asked mischievously
“Sure” Jennie said
Lisa then held Jennie’s hand and led her out the shop, locking it up and leading the gamer to her car. Once inside, Lisa played Jennie’s favorite playlist which would be The Beatles’ songs, Lisa then drove them to the airport.
“Dude, where are we going?” Jennie asked, confused as ever now, and even more shocked as Lisa drove to where the airplane runway, and there Jennie saw a helicopter waiting for them.
“A helicopter?!” Jennie excitedly exclaimed
“And a chicken loving dwarf who is completely and utterly in love with an avocado hating chipmunk” Lisa said as she pointed to Jisoo and Rosé who were busy ogling at each other
Jennie and Lisa then went out of the car and approached the two.
“Finally!” Jisoo exclaimed, cutting her staring contest with her wife, as she hugged the two tightly
“Happy Anniversary, you guys” Rosé said as she joined in the hug
“Thank you, but how the hell did you afford this?” Jennie asked Lisa
“I make a lot of money” Lisa said, making them laugh
“She also has an Uncle who owns one” Jisoo said, making Lisa pout
“I was trying to be cool in front of my girlfriend, Unnie” Lisa said
“Well, it ain’t working” Jisoo said, proving a point
After much more bickering, they finally boarded the helicopter; the pilot then gave them a few simple instructions and soon enough they were off. Jennie couldn’t help but grin as she tried to absorb what was happening right now; she was in an helicopter off to who knows where whilst the love of her life was holding on to her hand tightly, luckily Jennie had gotten rid of her fear of riding aircrafts, Jisoo on the other hand has yet to overcome it, so I guess you know the situation Rosé is in.
“Love, where are we going?” Jennie asked her
“We’re going on an adventure” Lisa said
Jennie need not asked more and simply enjoyed the moment as she felt the cool breeze strike their souls as they were being flown high above the grounds of the earth. She really could not ask for more right now.
“They’re like ants!” Rosé exclaimed, ignoring the scared Jisoo
“They’re like ants and I wanna crush them!” Jisoo exclaimed making everyone, including the pilot, laugh
Jennie was then surprised to see the Eiffel Tower come into view.
“Lisa! We’re in Paris!” She said excitedly
Lisa then nodded and smiled at
