”Eunbi? We’re back~”

I called out for the little princess the moment we step in, stepping out of those comfortable sneakers and I could not remember when was the last time I had sneakers on. It was always heals after heals, it’s the norm. Before the socks were off my feet, you could hear footsteps down the corridor. 

And that brought smiles to my face, no mare how hard or tiring my schedule was, the thought of Eunbi just brought smiles to my face every single time without fail.

People around me could not understand, they always ask how could I love someone else’s child like my own? To be honest, I have no answer to this question either. I am just giving her the love that I could not have when I was a child, and I love her as much as I love Jiyong. 

“Yoona omma!!”

The moment she saw me, her face lights up, like those stars you see when the sunsets and when the moon starts to come into visibility.

”Hey baby.” She launched herself onto me and I caught her perfectly in my arm.

”Baby, you’re going to break your Yoona omma like this, no more jumping next time.”

Jiyong said in sternly, those smiles on Eunbi’s face was slowly fading away. At the corner of my eyes, Ai was slowly making her way over to make her presence known. It stopped right beside my feet, giving little meows here and there.

”Aye, why so serious Kwon Jiyong? Did you not know my nickname? I am the Him Yoona~” I bend down to bring Ai into my arms, “See, both of them at once, not a big deal.”

”Seriously, what did you feed the both of them? My daughter and my cat are not running to me the moment I get home.”

”Eunbi, your daddy is throwing tantrums~”

She reached over for Jiyong, hanging onto him like a little monkey. “Aww, Daddy I love you too” She then planted a generous kiss on his lips, “I did not give Yoona omma any kisses, I saved it for you!”

”You cheeky little monkey,” Jiyong gave a small pat on her bum, asking how her day was. 

Looking at the scene unfolding in front of my eyes, my heart was full and I want to feel like this every day.

During dinner, Eunbi was still going on with her stories, blabbering about her friends and a guy in the school that she fancy. And yes, you did not hear wrongly, she’s 5 and has someone that she fancy. I could totally see Jiyong rolling his eyes and I am trying to not laugh. 

Part of me was listening, but my mind was elsewhere. There is nothing in particular but thinking about the future, in general, scares me. So many what if’s, all the consequences behind all the actions that we are doing now, are they really the best for Eunbi?

”Yoona?”

”Y-Yeh?”

”What are you thinking about? Your phone is ringing.”

I looked down mindlessly, the caller ID was Unkcle Kim and that alone, brought me back to sense. 

“Uncle Kim is calling, I’ll head up to answer the call.” Jiyong look kind of flustered but I thought I saw wrongly, ignoring that, picked up the call while heading up. 

Uncle Kim is our family’s personal lawyer and has been working for my dad for the longest time. Now that I’m pursuing my career in the industry, my dad thought it will be a good idea to entrust me to uncle Kim. Not only an lawyer, he is my personal finance manager as well.

“Hello Uncle Kim,” I gleam upon hearing his voice. “How are you doing?”

“All is good as long as you’re well~” Uncle Kim practically acts like my second dad, he’s married but does not have any child. With his relationship with my dad, he treats me just like his own daughter. 

“It’s kind of late, why are you not resting? You know all this work could wait unless there is something wrong with the finance or contracts?” 

Usually, if there’s nothing wrong or anything serious, we will just exchange messages through text.
