*Youngjae’s POV*

“Uh-huh~,” I switched the phone to my other ear and took out my keys to unlock the door. “I don’t know what to do Youngjae~.” Kikwang truly sounded upset and lonely. “I’m sorry Kiki.” I entered the apartment closing and locking the door behind me.

“The kid thing sounds like a wonderful idea, but you should give Doojoon some time. That’s a big decision to make.” I told him. “Yeah~, I know. I just don’t know when I’ll be able to ask him again. He’s always working. He had to cancel 3 dates on me. I told him not to bother anymore. It hurts when he cancels like this.” He said.

I couldn’t help but sigh. I was working a lot too and had to cancel on Daehyun a few times too, and Jaehwan.

“I don’t think it’s easy for him either. I mean, we’re both pretty much in the same situation.” I said. “But you’re doing something good for the world.” He said. I just chuckled.

“Doojoon…” he whispered. “…his boss likes him. She’s the one who’s keeping him busy. She keeps giving him extra work. She even promoted him when he’s barely been working there for two years. And she even had dinner with him…alone…on the day we were supposed to go out.” He spoke quietly like a gossiping older lady.

I chuckled at him. “He’s probably just really good at what he does Kiki. And even if she is trying to get with him, he won’t fall for it. He already has you. Don’t think so hard about it. The more you think about it, the more paranoid you’ll get and you end up doing something you’ll regret.” I advised.

“Thanks Jaejae…I’m sorry for bothering you. I know you’re busy.” He said.

“It’s fine. I’m here for you whenever you need me. If you ever feel bored or lonely, you’re more than welcome to come over. And you can bring your little friend Keomi with you too.” I offered.

“Haha, thanks. Well, I’ll let you go. Thanks again.” He said. “No problem. See you later.” And with that I hung up.

I dropped my stuff on the floor and plopped on the couch. “Gosh am I exhausted.” For the past couple of weeks I’ve been working with no breaks, I even had to drop in over the weekend for a few hours.

A little over 10 years ago the 6 of us decided to go our own ways, adapting to the new era. We’re still a clan of course, but we just live in our own homes in Gangnam. The manor is still where it was but just as a place for refuge or even a place to get together.

Jongup is currently posing as a High school student, but he says after he ‘graduates’ he’s going to work as a coach or athletic trainer. Himchan works under a pretty well-known fashion company and has a pretty good position. The two live in a cozy two-story home where they also take care of Hongbin.

On the other end Bang and Zelo live in an impressive fancy, contemporary styled home. Zelo is also posing as a High school student just a grade under Jongup. After he ‘graduates’ he’s going to go to a small community college. And Bang, of course, is a CEO at a large corporation.

Jaehwan lives with Lord Junghyuk, Lady Mina, and Leo. He seems to enjoy himself there. I do my best to visit him at least once a week, but it’s becoming more difficult because of work.

Daehyun has his own music shop where he sells, rents, and repairs instruments, and even sells albums of various artists. He has five people that work for him. It’s a pretty successful shop. Daehyun also 9on his free time) goes out and plays and sings on the street.

I used to work at a high end café but joined a group of chemist to help come up with cures and alternatives. Right now we’re trying to come up with an alternative blood that vampires can feed on, instead of depending on human blood. We’ve been working on the project for a few years now, and we’re so close to coming up with a solution, which is why I’ve been tied up with work lately.

“Daehyun?” I called, wondering if he was home.

response.

I sat up, “Daehyun~!” I called this time, a little louder, only to receive silence in return. I pouted slightly. I was actually hoping he would be home. I felt as if I haven’t seen him in forever.

I stood up and headed towards the small kitchen. “I’ll just make some ramen.” I said, taking the ingredients out of the cupboard. Even though I don’t need food, eating it makes me feel human again, and Daehyun just likes the taste of food. But we don’t eat too much, or else it’d hurt us.

As I was cooking the ramen I heard a creak come from the front area. “Daehyun? Are you home?” I asked after not hearing a ‘Hello’ or anything.

I received no response.

Then I heard another slow creak that sounded from the floor.

I stopped what I was doing and looked down the hallway. “Dae?” I questioned.

Before I could sense anything somebody pinched my nose from behind and dragged me back into the kitchen. I kicked wildly.

I yelped being pinned on my back against the table. The intruder’s hands on either side of me. I looked up, hearing a familiar laughter. “Daehyun!”

The said vampire was hovering over me. “Youngjae.” He smiled teasingly.

“What the heck?!” I hit his chest. “You freakin-,” “Shh!” Daehyun said cutting me off. He scanned the room with his eyes.

Did he sense something?

“What is it?” I whispered. A deep growl emitted from his throat. “Somebody is here.” He spoke in a low tone. I gave him a confused look. “I don’t understand.” I said.

He looked down at me and leaned in closer. “They’re here to get you.” He said in all seriousness. “…and I can’t protect you from him.”

My eyes widened. “Wh-What? Wh-Who?” I stumbled over my words, feeling nervous.

He leaned in even closer, our chests were now touching and his lips by my ear. “…Me…” He whispered seductively, his voice deeper than usual. He sent chills up my spine.

Ignoring my feelings I shoved him off of me. “Daehyun stop playing games.” I said, sitting up only to be embraced by the elder.

“Dae.” I gasped. “I’m glad to see you. You’re home early.” He sound truly happy.

My heart sank a little. “I’m sorry Daehyun.” I said feeling guilty.

Daehyun released his embrace. “It’s okay, we still have a lot of time ahead of us.” He said kissing the top of my head softly. All I could do was smile.

Just then he started to sniff the air. “Do I smell…ramen?” he raised an eyebrow. “Oh snap! The ramen!” I jumped back to my feet and ran to the stove to continue making the noodles.

“Oh~, you’re cooking ramen?” he said, peering over my shoulder. “Mm hm, I haven’t made anything in a while, so I figured since I’m home early I can make something.” I said.

Daehyun walked up to me and hugged me from behind, resting his chin on shoulder. “My Jaejae is a great cook.” He said. I blushed a little, unable to respond.

Once I finished making the ramen, I took the pot over to the table and we shared the small pot of ramen.

I took the top and placed some noodles on it, allowing Daehyun to eat the rest from the pot. “I’m thinking about giving private lessons.” Daehyun said starting a conversation. “Private lessons?” I repeated.

“Mm hm, a lot of people have been asking if I gave lessons. They say I should, but I wasn’t going to do it before I talked to you about it.” He said.

“Wh-Why do you need to talk to me about it?” I asked, not expecting him to say that. “Because…they’re ‘private’ lessons. I don’t want to do anything private from you unless you were okay with it.” He said.

I did feel a bit uncomfortable about doing something “private” with somebody else, even if it’s just musical lessons. “If it’s something you want to do…” but I do trust Daehyun, just not other people, “…then you should do it. Especially if it’ll help your business.” I forced a smile. “I’ll support you all the way.”

Daehyun just looked at me.

“Wh-What?” I asked.

“You’re uncomfortable with it.” He read me like an open book.

I sighed, “I really think you should do it. I trust you. It’ll take me a while to get used to it.”

“It’s fine Youngjae. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable. I’ll just have the other guys do the lessons. I can make a class, so it won’t be private.” He smiled warmly.

I nodded, “Yeah that sounds better.” I said. He chuckled, standing up. “The ramen was delicious.” He said picking up the dishes.

He went to the sink washed the dishes, dried them, and put them away in their rightful places.

“Hmm, ya know…I was thinking…” Daehyun began, after we finished cleaning the kitchen. “Sounds like you’ve been thinking a lot.” I chuckled.

Daehyun grabbed his acoustic guitar and sat down on the couch. “…I was think about learning to play another instrument. Either the violin or trumpet or the drums. Well, I want to learn all of them but I don’t which one to learn first.” He said. “Oooh~, a harp would be cool too. I would only play that for you though.”

I sat down on the couch next to him. “You already know how to play a lot of instruments. You play the guitar, saxophone, and piano.” I told him. “I know. Your mate is amazing isn’t he?” He smiled at me. I chuckled shaking my head. I pinch his cheek. “One of a kind.” I said. He began to strum his guitar gently.

I shifted my position to where I was laying down and rested my head on his lap. I hummed along to the rhythm he was playing. “I’ve been getting a lot of offers lately, to sign with label companies because of my street performances.” He said.

“Oh wow, that’s great.” I said.

“But I’ve turned them down.”

“What? Why? Don’t you want to become a hallyu star?” I asked in surprise.

“Yeah, but that means I would have to be away from you. And I would have to keep you a secret from the world.” He said.

I scoffed teasing
