What?

Xiao Gui said companionably, "So who was that?" Gui Gui replied, "Nobody." Xiao Gui said, "No, really. Why did he want your number so bad?"

Gui Gui sighed. "Well, you remember I went to a concert last night with Aaron. We were just hanging out, and then that guy came up to me and asked me for my number. You know I don't give out my number to strangers, so I gave him a rejection hotline number. Then we got separated in the crowd. I didn't think I would ever see him again."

Xiao Gui whistled. "Wow. What a persistent dude. And you had no idea he even lived near you?" Xiao Gui asked, still amazed. Gui Gui said, "Nope. That was a complete surprise this morning." Aaron was off to the side, scowling, not listening to their conversation. He hated that Jun guy.

Unknown to these three best friends, everyone in the school had heard about the Jun guy. Gui Gui was very pretty, and there were several guys that liked her. Problem was, they were too scared of Xiao Gui and Aaron, who were very protective of Gui Gui.

But throughout the school, there were whispers about the guy who was making Aaron scowl so. It had been a long time since anyone had seen that scowl. Wang Zi, one of Gui Gui’s admirers, had been the object of that scowl. A long time ago, Wang Zi had tried to chase Gui Gui. But Aaron had turned Gui Gui against the idea, and they were now good friends. But Aaron had glared at Wang Zi for a week until Wang Zi had stopped chasing her.

Now it was back, and everyone but Gui Gui knew what it meant: another guy was chasing Gui Gui. Gui Gui was talking to Ya Tou, her girl best friend. They were talking about the concert and what had occurred last night.

Ya Tou asked, "So what do you think of Jun?" Gui Gui shuddered a little. "I think he's creepy. Who follows someone around just to get their number, even when they have been rejected?"

Ya Tou said with a hopeful tone, "Maybe he really likes you." Gui Gui replied hotly, "Even if that's the case, I don’t care. He should just leave me alone." Just then, she saw a very familiar face. Stunned, Gui Gui said, "Xiao Hao?" She ran up to the newcomer and hugged him. Aaron was still walking beside Ya Tou.

Aaron's face was emotionless. His voice was a monotone as he asked, "Is she going out with him? Who is that guy?" Ya Tou replied amiably, "Gui Gui and Qian Fu Hao? No. That’s her godmother’s son. They grew up together." Aaron said, clearly relieved, "Oh..."

Inside his head, Aaron was thinking, "Why is she hugging him? Does she like him? Does he like her? What should I do?" Aaron asked, "Ya Tou, does she like him?" Ya Tou scolded, "Aaron, what are you thinking of? Don't you think if she were going out with someone, you and Xiao Gui would be the first ones to know?"

Aaron said with a shrug, "I don't know." Ya Tou sighed. She shook her head. Ya Tou thought, "Boys! When will they understand that just because a girl hugs another boy, it might not mean as much as they think it does."

Gui Gui and Xiao Hao are walking to their class together, chatting about stuff. Gui Gui asked, "How come you're here? I thought you were in America. Not that I'm not happy to see you, but why?"

Xiao Hao replied, "I was. But Mom wanted me to learn more Chinese, so she decided to send me back to Taiwan. She knew you were studying here, and she wanted me to have someone to talk to, so she sent me here. Are you mad?"

Gui Gui said, "No, of course not. It’s wonderful that you’re here. I just wish you had told me, so I could introduce you properly to my friends."

Xiao Hao said, "That’s ok, I'll meet them later. Oh, I have to go. I have a class. I'll see you tonight." Gui Gui said, puzzled, "What?" "I'm coming over with my mom to eat tonight!" He yelled over his shoulder as he walked in the opposite direction.

Gui Gui said, "Ok..." with the air of a person who can't do anything to prevent it. After class, Aaron and Xiao Gui met up with Gui Gui. They were walking back to Gui's house, when Aaron heard a rustling.

Aaron turned his head. It sounded like it was coming from the bushes. Just then, he stepped on a rock. He picks it up, and throws it at the bush, just as Jun’s head comes up. *BAM* It hits him right in the middle of the forehead. Jun falls back into the bush. Xiao Gui and Gui Gui just keep on walking and talking, not even noticing Aaron laughing to himself.

Gui Gui asked Xiao Gui, "So, what did you think of that test today?" Right as she says this, Jun bursts out of the bushes. He is aiming for Gui, but instead he runs into Xiao Gui’s fist. Gui Gui is startled by this sudden appearance. It’s as if her namesake had appeared. Xiao Gui said pleasantly, "Hello. What were you going to do, sneak up on her and grab her? Yeah right. Not with me here."

Gui Gui said gratefully, "Thanks, Xiao Gui. What was he doing?" Xiao Gui replied, still holding his position, "It looked like he was going to jump you, so naturally I had to stop him." Gui Gui laughed, "Hahahahaha, that’s hilarious."

She walked over to the fallen Jun. Gui Gui, deciding to mess with him, asked, "Why were you acting all secret and sneaky? Your spy skills were so bad, you were mistaken for a thief!" Jun rubbed his head. Jun said bitterly, "If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have had to do that."

Confused, Gui Gui asked, "Me? What did I ever do to you? Oh, you mean the rejection? But what does that have to do with you stalking me everywhere?" Jun said mysteriously, "It has everything to do with it." Gui Gui, even more confused by this ambiguous answer, said again, "What?" Jun replied with another vague answer, "You'll know soon."

With that, he picked himself up off the ground and walks away. The reason for his spying was to find out what school Gui Gui went to. Jun had decided to find out what school she went to, and transfer into her class. This way, he would have a much better chance of wooing Gui Gui. Jun thought with an evil and, some might think, erted grin, "You think that this is over? It’s not over until I have me a ghost."
