Chapter 24

Just Say It Already

To Break the Curse

~Ancestors in heaven~
"You killed him!" yelled a young man at the lady. "He's dead because of that curse you put on that necklace. Do you see, you destroyed their true love!" The lady stood in silence, calmly listening to the man. "Sit down and wait. Everything is not as it seems." the lady commanded when he was finished rambling. The lady pointed to a well, which showed the events happening on Earth.

~back on Earth~
"Aaron!" Gui Gui sobbed. She couldn't believe that this was happening. How had it come to this? Her best friend had just confessed to her, and then he had suddenly become unconscious. How? Just then, her necklace started glowing. "Huh?" Gui said confused. "Oh wait! I remember now. The lady owner that sold this necklace to me said that when my wish was about to come true, it would glow. Does that mean that Aaron is my true love?" Just then, her necklace started shaking. Gui Gui felt that there was something moving inside the box. "Why is it moving?" She opened it, and out came a creature. It had long flowing hair, big eyes, and was dressed in a beautiful dress. It looked like a little doll. "Who are you?" Gui Gui asked the creature curiously. "I am the seventh fairy daughter of the ruler of heaven. Who are you?" "Ummm, my name is Gui Gui." Gui said in confusion. "Is this your boyfriend?" asked the fairy, pointing at Aaron. "Umm, he just confessed to me, but then he just suddenly became unconscious." "So he was the victim of the curse, not you." mused the fairy. "Curse? What curse?" asked Gui. "How do you have the necklace without knowing about the curse?" asked the fairy. "I bought it." answered Gui. "That's...different. Nevermind. Have you ever heard the legend behind that necklace?" "No, I didn't even know there was one." "Well, there is. I might as well tell it to you." sighed the fairy.

~Legend~
Long ago, there were seven fairys. They were all extremely gifted with many magical powers. The youngest fairy was very interested in Earth, so she went down there to explore often. On one of her explorations, she came across a mortal man. He saw her too, and was instantly captivated. The fairy was curious about mortals, so she talked to him. They fell in love. But, the fairy knew that she couldn't stay with her lover forever. The ruler of heaven had set a law that immortals were never to be with mortals. She had broken that law. She decided to leave him before they were found out. She didn't want her lover to forget her, so she made a necklace and imbued it with fairy power. She left it with her lover, and returned to heaven. The fairy thought that everything was well, but it was not. The ruler of heaven had found out, and in his anger he killed the mortal and sent his soul downward, so the fairy would be forever separated from her lover. The fairy grew angry and bitter, and she cursed the necklace. Whoever wore the necklace would experience the pain of losing their greatest wish, as she felt when she lost her lover.
~End of the legend~

"That fairy was my sister." finished the fairy. Gui Gui looked at the fairy in silence. The fairy looked at Gui Gui, and saw that the mortal girl was crying. "Why are you crying?" asked the fairy. "I'm crying because there is no way to save Aaron," Gui sobbed. "I didn't say there was no way," said the fairy exasperatedly. "But why would you help me? I thought, in the legend, that your sister were the one who cursed the necklace. Why would you want to help me?" asked Gui. "My sister was angry with our father, and wanted to punish him. So she cursed her necklace. But her grief outweighed her anger, and she grew remorseful for the horrible deed that she had done. She wanted to fix it, but she couldn't. She doesn't possess enough power." "So how am I supposed to save Aaron? If a fairy can't even break the curse, how can I?" asked Gui Gui. "The curse can only be broken by that by which it came into being." said the fairy.

"Huh?" said Gui Gui confusedly. "Could you not talk in riddles? I'm not very good at understanding them." The fairy sighed. "The curse came into being because my sister lost her love. So it can only be broken by a true love." "If the necklace lights up, then that means that your wish is about to come true, right? Then how come it lit up earlier, but nothing happened?" "It was probably just saying that your wish was about to come true," suggested the fairy. "Wait, I have a question. How did you get stuck inside the necklace?" asked Gui. "When my sister wanted to make amends, she tried to figure out a way to help the people with the necklace. She discovered that a fairy could hide in the box. But she could not. The necklace repelled her. But she found out that another could. So she found me to take her place, and help the people faced with the curse."

Gui Gui nodded in understanding. "Since your friend fainted, it's because of your wish. So the only thing to do, is go into the box and destroy the curse." Gui Gui looked at the fairy in disbelief. "I can't fit in my necklace!" The fairy laughed. "I can make you small enough to fit. There will be some tests, but if you pass, your friend will awake." Gui Gui nodded. "Okay, lets do it." Gui Gui closed her eyes, and the fairy used her magic and transported herself and Gui Gui into the necklace. To the person in the mortal world, if there had been anyone around, they would have seen nothing. The fairy had cloaked the little scene until they returned.

~In the necklace~
Gui Gui looked around. The walls were all intricately designed, and everything was white and pure looking. The fairy appeared beside her. "So what do we have to do?" asked Gui. "To pass these tests, you must prove that you love Aaron enough to do anything for him. You must prove your true love." Gui Gui looked at the fairy. "But I'm not even sure..." The fairy cut her off. "If the necklace lit up, then that means that your wish was about to come true. Since your wish was about finding your true love, then he must be your true love." Gui Gui said confusedly, "But it didn't light up." "Yes it did, you just weren't paying attention. Now lets go." The fairy pulled her toward a door that had just materialized out of nowhere. "Aaron, I'm going to save you. Don't worry." whispered Gui as she went through the door, into the unknown.
