Falling for the Clumsy Sun

Phuket, Thailand... 2 days before end of vacation...

"Oppa! They have an elephant show!" Yongsun squealed reading the brochure that the man was handing out outside earlier. "Can we go see! Please!" She was unconciously showing so much aegyo that Eric couldn't resist but stretch it out some more.

"Mian, Yeobo. I checked and they're sold out for today."  Eric acted very well pretending like he hasn't bought two tickets for the next show behind his wife's back.

Yongsun puckered her lips and played with the hem of his shirt to take her mind out of her disappointment.

Grinning, he brought his camera out and took a quick couple of shots before Yongsun whined and tried to grab his equipment.

"Ahh~ Oppa~. Delete it." She whined while Eric quickly took out the memory card and hid it in the tiny slip of his pocket before placing another one on the camera.

"I don't like you right now." She mumbled and left him standing there with a wide grin on his face.

Eric stood their for a second chuckling to himself before he ran towards her interlacing their fingers and pulling her to the entrance.

"Where are we going? I don't want to go anywhere with you right now." She said an upset child trying to untangle herself from him.

"Really? And why is that?" He couldn't help but some more.

Yongsun looked up and poked him in the belly. "You're being mean to me. I don't want to go with you."

"Oh, jjinja? Hmm..." He let go of her hand and rubbed his chin. "I guess I need to find another date then."

"Date? What-"

"Such a shame. And I thought you wanted to watch the elephant show." He said fanning himself with the tickets.

Yongsun gasped and her eyes sparkled as her lips smiled widely. "Is that..."

"Oh well... Excuse me." Eric turned around taking a step forward when Yongsun made a squeaky noise and jumped him wrapping her arms around his waist. "Eoh? I thought you said you didn't want to-"

"Aaahhnngg~" She whined.

Later that day, Yongsun couldn't help but gush at how big and beautiful the elephants were. She was like a kid extremely fascinated about seeing a bunch of elephants up close. After that elephant show, she just had that wide bright grin plastered on her face the rest of the day.

All and all, Eric couldn't help but smile and place kisses on his adorable wife.

"Ack!" Yongsun squealed and scrunched her face as she held the stick of grasshopper in front of .

Eric couldn't help but be amused. He told his wife he didn't have to if she didn't want to but she kept insisting on wanting to taste it so he just encouraged her and ate one before her.

"Love, trust me. It taste like fried chicken."

"Eugghh~" She held the stick out a little farther from her face. "A-are you going to be disappointed if I didn't try it now?"

"Ani. You can always try it later on." He said and was about to take the stick from her when she just took the whole thing inside and started chewing while squealing.

The passersby and the stall owner laughed at her reaction.

Eric handed her a bottle and she took a couple of gulps. "Otte?"

"Like chicken... But I don't want anymore." She said still scrunching her face.

They then thanked the owner before venturing out to new stalls looking for souvenirs to buy for their family.

"Don't you think we're making a habit of this?" Eric asked.

"Hmm? A habit of what?" Yongsun turned while holding an elephant shaped charm perfect for bracelets.

"Last minute shopping. And at the nightmarket at that." He answered taking the charm and finding it very well made. "Eoh. This is nice. Should we buy it for the girls?"

"I was thinking the same. About the charms I mean." She said. "And come to think of it... You're also right about the last minute thing. But then, instead of it being a habit, how about we make it into a tradition?"

"A last minute night market souvenir shopping tradition?" He cocked his head thinking about the idea.

Yongsun nodded.

A silly smile appeared on his face and he shrugged. "Okay. Let's do that then."

"Unnie! SOLAR UNNIE!"

Yongsun immediately went to full alert as she saw the fans running up to her and her husband. Eric, also on full alert, held Yongsun to his side to keep them at bay.

"Unnie!" The fans squealed and stopped in front of them with about two feet of distance keeping them apart.

The couple noticed this and they couldn't be more grateful.

"A-annyeonghasaeyo. H-hello." Yongsun greeted shyly.

"Annyeonghasaeyo! Solar unnie!" The girl who looked about around early twenties greeted for the group.

"E-eh?" Yongsun quietly responded feeling noticing that other people in the airport were starting to pay attention to them.

"We are really really big fans of Mamamoo! My name is Dao and I am one of the admins of Moomoo fanclub in Thailand!" Dao said.

"O-oh." The k-pop star could only let out awkward replies and let the talking be done by the fan. "B-but how-"

Dao and the other fans giggled to themselves. "We have our sources. Uhm... So... Anyway... We were wondering if we could get your autograph and maybe a picture?"

Yongsun turned to her husband who was clearly amused but proud at the success of his wife.

"We have fifteen minutes before the boarding call." Eric whispered and gave the fans a gently smile.

"You don't mind?" She asked quietly.

He shook his head and gave her head a gentle pat. He then turned to the fans again and said, "Would it be okay if we do it here? We only have fifteen minutes before the boarding call."

The fans awed at his gentle voice and nodded. "Neh. Anything for our Moomoo Goddess!" Dao said making Yongsun chuckled and blush.

While Yongsun busied herself with signing posters, CDs and other merchandise belonging to Mamamoo, Eric excused himself for a moment only to return with a bag of drinks and another bag of snacks on both hands handing them out to the small crowd.

"Woah~ Unnie is very lucky to have him as a husband." One of the girl fans commented and everyone agreed.

Right after Eric had taken a couple of shots of his wife and her fans, the intercom announced the boarding of their flight and everyone said their goodbyes but not before Dao could give them a couple of paper bags containing some gifts.

Months later...

After the success of their second comeback and while in between schedules for university and other events, Yongsun received a message from somebody she least expected.

The number wasn't listed on her phone but she did recognize it after having it memorized in her head. Making a quick reply with assurance that her member didn't see anything, she changed her password and placed her phone back in her pocket.

"Eoh? Unnie? Where are you going?" Byul asked noticing her attempted quiet exit. "Don't you want to join us for dinner?"

She let out an awkward laugh. Ottoke? How can I escape from them?

"Don't tell me, you have another date with Ric-hyung?" Hyejin asked sighing while placing a hand on her hip.

Oh! Good idead! "E-eoh. Okay. Uhm... Bye!" She ran off before the girls could question her any further.

After driving around for ten minutes and walking around for the next fifteen just to make sure that the girls or anyone else had followed her, Yongsun checked her reflection on her phone to see if she was properly disguised before entering the cafe.

When the staffs welcomed her in, she smiled as they showed no hint of recognizing her the least bit. She then looked around and saw a familiar image sitting on the corner side of the cafe looking like she is very much irritated for having waited. The girl looked up as soon as she got there and didn't even have to question who she was.

"What took you so long? I told you I didn't have much time." The girl hissed as she motioned her to take a seat as she answered her call.

Yongsun didn't say anything and just took her seat.

A minute or two later, a staff approached them and she gave their orders and the food and drinks came just after Hyunyong was done with her phone call.

Aside from her greeting earlier, none of you spoke a single word until after she was done with her food and had asked for the staff for a refill of her coffee.

"So? You know why I called you. Hand it over so that I can stop wasting my time." Hyunyong sassed with her palm up waiting for something.

Watching her older cousin, Yongsun asked herself how she'd let herself be intimidated and be pushed down by her even after they've grown out of their teenager years. But then again, it seems her cousin has rather grown more arrogant instead.

I'm no longer that girl, Shin Hyunyong. She thought to herself.

Not wanting to waste time as well, she took out a thick small envelope and an A4 sized envelope but handed her the larger size first.

"Mwoyah?" Hyunyong didn't ask any specific questions and opened the envelope. Immediately, after taking out the documents followed by A4 size photographs, her face paled and she shoved everything back before folding the pile and shoving it inside her bag. She didn't say anything as she regained her composure and with deadly fire in her eyes, she looked up and glared at her cousin. "What the is this?"

"Your bargaining deal." Yongsun said and handed her the cash.

Putting her questions and anger aside for a moment, she grabbed the envelope and took out the bills counting them one by one to make sure that it had the exact amount she wanted.

Again, infuriated, she placed the money back in the envelope and threw it back to her cousin letting it hit her in the chest.

"Are you ing kidding me right now?" Hyunyong clucked her tongue. "First you give me trash and now you're handing me less than half of what I asked for? Are you asking for some beating?"

Yongsun sat there holding onto the cash with a tight grip under the table and looking up to match her unnie's deadly glare. She almost smiled as she watched how Hyunyong flinched seeing her like that for the first time and probably not the last.

"Y-yah. Did you just glare at me? D-do you want to die?" Hyunyong threatened. "Forget it. Just take out your cheque book give e a blank cheque so that I can finally go."

"No."

"Mwoh? Did you just say no? Yah-" She got up and attempted to reach over her for a slap when Yongsun handed her the money back sliding it roughly on the table.

"This is the last one. After tonight, I am never going to answer any call coming from you or aunt and uncle. Any form of contact that we'll be having in the future will only be in forms of family or business occasions. You can try bullying me, blackmailing me or even beat me up but nothing will change. As of tonight, I will no longer be providing any financila support to you or to your parents." Yongsun sstated not letting the Shin girl interrupt her.

"My parents? Wow~ Now that you can talk and famous you think you can say anything and do anything you want, huh? You're really asking for death huh?" Hyunyong grabbed her glass of water and knowing what she was about to do, Yongsun swatted her hand away.

Hyunyong gasped at your action as it was the first time you've ever rebelled. "Y-yah. Y-you-"

"Take my advice, unnie. Take the money and go take a long visit to your father's parents. Pull yourself together before halmoni does it for you." Yongsun grabbed her bag and turned around.

"Y-yah. Long visit? W-what are you trying to tell me?"

Not bothering to turn around, she said, "Tomorrow, as soon as office hours begin, the VP will be conducting a covert investigation per halmoni's order regarding the missing designs that so happened to have been released by rival companies, and mishaps in the financial reports. If the VP is successful within the office hours tomorrow, you'll be exposed and the least thing halmoni could ever do is to disown you. Otherwise, she can have you arrested and imprisoned for a long time."

Hyunyong gasped at the thought of losing her inheritance. "D-disown?! A-rrested?! S-she won't - can't do that! I'm a Kim! I-"

"You're a SHIN. I'm a KIM." Yongsun turned around and gave her an impassive look. "In blood, you are a Kim. In title and blood, I am a Kim. And by tradition passed on by generations, as the only  child of the first born and the one holding onto the family name, I inherited the company and everything else under our family's name and everything will be passed on to my children and future generation under me."

Hyunyong slumped down on the chair feeling like she was about to lose it.

Taking a step forward to the girl, Yongsun took the A4 envelope from the Shin girl's back and handed it back to her. "Take my advice, unnie. I suggest you leave today."

With those last words, Yongsun handed the payment to the staff before leaving the cafe and walking to her car.

I feel free.
