It has been three days since Yonghwa had proposed to me. And it has been three days that my dad kept on nagging me about my idea of just having a simple engagement party and of course the wedding. He really wants it to be as huge and as elegant as the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate.

“Prepare for your engagement party tonight.” Dad said.

“Tonight? Why so fast, dad?” I asked.

“Just prepare, ok?” he answered.

“I can’t wait for the big day.” Mom said and giggled.

“But mom, dad … “

“No more buts and ifs, Shinhye.” I pouted. “Tonight is your engagement party. Yong, fetch her later. Ok?”

“Yes, sir.” Yong said.

“Sir? Aigoo, call me dad.”

“Eh? Yes, dad.” Yong said.

“Alright then. It’s settled.”

“Dad, please a simple party would do, with our families and friends.”

“Alright, alright, but you should wear what your mom ask you to wear. Ok?”

“Really, dad? Why change mind all of a sudden? Do you really agree?”

“Just do what I say, ok?”

“Ok.”

“Good, Yong, don’t forget. 5 pm.” And that’s how we end our little conversation earlier this morning.

Yonghwa arrived exactly five in the afternoon looking great in his all white tux.

“Aigoo, my prince is really handsome.” I thought and smiled.

I on the other hand was wearing a white tube “tutu” dress, paired with very, high heels. I won’t be wearing these kind of clothes if my mother didn’t force, annoy and bother me.

“Wow, very pretty.” He said as he leaned for a kiss. “Are you ready, my princess?”

“No.” I said bluntly.

“Why? Didn’t dad already agreed with you?”

Dad? Huh? Its already my second time hearing him call my dad as dad, I mean I know he would be calling him dad in the future. Aigoo.. Can’t explain.

“Aish, Yong, knowing him. I know he only agreed for me to shut up. Aigoo…” I pouted.

“Haha, very cute my princess.” He said and pinched my cheek.

“Come on, let’s go.” He then kissed my forehead, assuring me that everything’s going to be fine. We linked arms as we walked out from the house.

The hotel receptionist led Yong and I to the conference room that dad reserved. I was right; dad is truly an unpredictable person. I held Yong’s arm tightly.

“Nervous?” I nodded.

“Don’t be, ok? I’m just here.” I nodded again and smiled.

As the doors opened, it reveal the guest our parents invited. And they’re really plenty of them, the business partners, politics, even celebrities. I don’t even know some of the guest.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming tonight.” Dad said over the microphone “Please help me welcome, my lovely daughter and my soon to be son-in-law. Park ShinHye, and Jung YongHwa.” Everybody welcomed us with applause as we were walking down the center aisle. I was still holding his arms tightly. I was looking around, I found our classmates when we were still in high school, the GeunGeun couple was there, my college friends in New York, some workers of our company in New York and here in Korea. I was flattered when I saw my friends way back in that foreign country, they just flew here just for this event. And of course Yong’s sisters and cousins, and bandmates were here.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please.” The MC said. “Thank you. May I request our lovely couple to please stand up for our exchanging of engagement rings.”

After exchanging our engagement rings, dad was asked to raise a toast.

“I am really happy; my only daughter would be taken away from me any day from now. But any ways I’m happy that it was Yonghwa who my daughter will be spending her whole life with. Everyone lets make a toast for them. A toast to love, and laughter, and happily ever after.”

After the toast the GeunGeun couple and his bandmates shared to the guest our love story, from the high school crush up to now.

After the sharing moment, Yong and his bandmates performed for us.

As dad has said to us, he is an understanding dad. And since, he never considered us as “not yet adults and still enjoying life”, he decided to put up a disco set for the guest to enjoy. Yes, our parents were the one who put all the efforts in this party.

Yong dragged me to the dance floor, yeah. We all know that Yong isn’t a dancer, but he looks hot when his dancing. We settled in the center part of the dance floor, we were dancing happily when some of the guest invading the dance floor went back to their seats leaving us alone in the center. I tried pulling Yong back to our seats, but he doesn’t want to go back yet, he was enjoying the attention while I was here really embarrassed. He smiled upon seeing me embarrassed. I looked up to him as saw him nodding. I looked to the direction on where he was nodding, and in there I saw the GeunGeun couple near the sound operator. And in a flash, a love song was played. We were the only one dancing in all throughout the whole song.

After that song, the people went back to the dance floor with us, even the GeunGeun couple joined us. Yong and I were enjoying each others company, but not until someone patted my shoulder. I turned and saw Lee Seung Gi, my ex-suitor.

“Hi, Shinhye.” He said and smiled.

“Umm, Hi Seung Gi. Thanks for coming.” I said politely.

“Its nothing. Anyways, conrats.” He said as he was extending his arms for a handshake. Yong accepted it more likely half heartedly.

“Thanks.”

“Oh, by the way, I’m Lee Seung Gi.” He said. “Umm, may I borrow her for a dance?”

I was hoping and wishing that Yong would say no to his question. But I was truly disappointed when he answered:

“Sure.” He kissed my cheeks and left.

Seung Gi was dancing happily and I was here dancing with him awkwardly. He keeps on talking and talking. And I was here pretending to be listening to the every word he uttered and pretending that I was happy and was enjoying his company yet my eyes were very busy looking for a certain YongHwa
