Circumstance
Playing With FireBomi had been meeting Chorong more often lately. She would drop by Chorong's office in the afternoon or evening, and they would have lunch or dinner together respectively. Other times Eunji would play gooseberry, much to Chorong's unhappiness. The eyesmiling girl never ever got the hint from Chorong, and that made the older girl want to strangle her.
Eunji was either just plain dumb, or she was purposely not allowing Chorong to have some private time with Bomi. For an unexplainable reason, Chorong believed it was the latter.
As of now, both Bomi and Chorong were by the Han River, admiring the twinkling stars in the dark sky. Before going there, Bomi had picked up Chorong from her workplace, and they went to have dinner together.
Chorong turned to Bomi and realised the brunette was staring at her. Again. "Why do you keep staring at me? This isn't the first time you're doing that."
"That's because you're too beautiful. I can't peel my eyes away from such a magnificent masterpiece that is you."
The older girl blushed madly. "Stop saying things like that."
"But this is democracy, Chorongie unnie," Bomi smirked. "And one can never have too much compliments."
Chorong looked away, and fixed her gaze to the sky instead. "The stars are shining so brightly," she uttered, changing the topic.
"But your beauty overpowers them."
"Are you like this to other girls?" Chorong asked, narrowing her eyes at the brunette.
"Haven't I told you before? You're the first person I ever fall in love with."
Chorong pursed her lips. "Yeah but you were joking."
"I was just joking about joking."
"Huh?" Chorong furrowed her brows in confusion. "What did you say?"
"Nothing unnie," Bomi chuckled. "Apart from your ethereal beauty, you have such a good personality unnie. Why are you still single? I'm pretty sure you're never lack of suitors."
"I don't know," Chorong sighed. "Maybe I just haven't found the right person."
"Should I be the right person for you then?"
A small laugh escaped Chorong's mouth. "You need to get through my dad first though."
"You didn't answer my question." Bomi's lips curled into a smug smile. "Seems like I'm your Mrs Right then."
"That really sounded like something Eunji would say."
Bomi laughed. "Eunji and I are on the same wavelength remember?"
"Yeah, unfortunately." Chorong exhaled a dramatic sigh. "What did I do in my previous life to deserve this?"
"Do you love Eunji?"
Bomi's sudden random question caused Chorong to be taken aback slightly.
"What?"
"Do you love her?" Bomi repeated her question again.
"I don't love her romantically, if that's what you're asking. Why?"
"You're really close to her though."
"That doesn't really prove anything."
"Have you ever seen the way she looks at you?"
"Is your job now to analyse people?"
Bomi let out a small chuckle. "Nah. But now that you've mentioned it, I might consider that." Her expression turned serious again. "Why do you think she keeps third-wheeling? Have you never wondered about that?"
Chorong fell silent. "She likes me?" she asked after the long quietude.
Bomi gave a small smile. "I think you already know the answer."
Chorong kept mum, as a million thoughts ricocheted in her head, too fast, and too loud to register.
Eunji likes me? Is that even possible?
"Should I be worried?" Bomi asked, breaking Chorong's train of thoughts. "I have a competition now."
Chorong sighed. "Can we not talk about this?"
"Alright, anything for you unnie."
"Thank you," Chorong smiled gratefully.
"No biggie. Say, where do you see yourself 10 years from now?"
"Having a family of my own. Honestly, I just want a happy family. That's all."
"Such simplicity," Bomi commented in amusement.
"Life is simple. Humans just love to complicate things."
"But sometimes, we don't really have much choices under dire circumstances do we?"
"Yeah, sometimes," Chorong paused, as she stared ahead blankly, "we're bludgeoned to death."
"What do you mean?" Bomi asked, raising her brow at the older girl.
A small smile tugged at Chorong’s lips. "Nothing.”
Bomi reached for Chorong's hand, interlacing their fingers. The older girl felt a surge electricity through her.
"I like you unnie."
Adrenaline was pumping wildly in Chorong's veins. Her heart started becoming more frenzied when she realised Bomi was cradling her face. She could hear the rushing of blood in her ears.
"I really, really like you unnie."
Naeun sighed after checking the new text that just came in. It was from Hayoung. She texted Naeun saying she wasn't able to have dinner together and send the blonde home since she had to complete her cases.
"Great, now I have to take a cab home," the blonde grumbled to herself.
"Oh Miss Son Naeun? What are you doing here?"
Naeun turned round, her gaze meeting with Eunji's. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? I see you everywhere."
"Geez, do supermodels love to overreact? The last time we met was only a week ago!" Eunji argued. She started taking sneaky glances of her surroundings.
"What are you doing?" Naeun asked, giving Eunji a strange look.
"Yup, the coast is clear," Eunji said to herself, heaving a sigh of relief. "I'm just checking to make sure your girlfriend isn't in sight. I worry for my safety if she's near."
"Don't worry. She's not even coming."
"Why?"
"Work."
"Maybe she's playing around."
"She wouldn't do such a thing."
"Yeah if you say so."
Naeun rolled her eyes. She was about to turn away when a sudden idea planted itself in her head. She looked at Eunji with slight hesitation. "Hey, do you perhaps want to have dinner with me?"
"Omo. Is Son Naeun, the proud supermodel asking me out?"
Naeun scoffed. "Don't flatter yourself. It'll be my treat."
"Where?"
"Where do you think?"
"Some high class restaurant?"
"Duh."
"Then no thank you! If you want me to have dinner with you, we'll eat at a place of my choice."
"Fine. It better be a good place."
"Don't worry, it is! Let's go."
"We're not going to ride your bike?"
"Nah, it's just a stone's throw away from here! I'll send you home afterwards with my bike. I bet you're not going to let the opportunity to hug me an
