24. Secret's Out
Delicately Dangerous
“So you live in the forest next to school?” He asked her, holding her in his lap.
Eunhee nodded, “I used to. I recently just moved out of the Fae community. Cultural differences, is probably the most humanlike term for it?” She said thoughtfully.
Daeryong chuckled at that, “So you know the Fae Prince then?” He asked, “How is he?”
She looked at him, “He’s a nice person, he defended me in front of all of the Fae and protected me when no one wanted to take me in. I just moved out because he was keeping a secret from me and I didn’t appreciate it.” She explained.
He brushed her hair gently, “What secret?” He wondered if the Fae knew who she was, since no one really seemed to.
Eunhee sighed, “There’s Elementals going missing, souls being taken, and Jinyoung tried to protect me by not telling me. But when I came home late the other night, he got upset and I got upset so I just left.” She said.
“Oh, you heard about that too?” Daeryong asked her, “My father just told me this morning.”
“What are we going to do about it? We can’t just sit around.” Eunhee said urgently, “We have to find the culprit and get them.”
Daeryong chuckled at her determination and bravado, “We will find them, but first we should probably head back.” He said, standing her up, his hand in hers.
“To school?” She asked quietly. She wasn’t ready to go back to that, it was probably chaotic with what happened.
“Don’t worry about it. Soryong took care of it. We just have to make an appearance and say nice things.” Daeryong told her, handing the helmet off. He let her climb on the back of the bike before speeding off.
He made sure her arms were tight around his torso and grinned, it always made him excited when she was clinging onto him. They made it back to school in record time and she looked nervous.
Teachers were looking at them, but Daeryong took off his helmet and smiled at them, “Hey, Mr. Kim.” He greeted.
“Where have you been, Daeryong?” He asked him.
“Eunhee was splashed with water so I took her home to get a fresh uniform, it wouldn’t be good to have a student catching a cold now would it?” He replied, Eunhee could tell his Charisma was on. She could feel working, but it was weak.
Mr. Kim looked at her curiously, “Is that right, Eunhee?” He asked.
She turned hers on, “Yes, Mr. Kim. I needed to get a new uniform, the flu is going around and I wouldn’t want anyone getting sick because of me.” She said with confidence.
Mr. Kim nodded at the thought, “Very well. Get back to class now.” He dismissed them and walked back into the office.
The two of them rushed off and everyone was murmuring around Soyeon, she looked pissed off. All the girls immediately rushed to Daeryong, asking him if he was okay. He his Charisma and explained it away.
Soyeon’s frown grew deeper and deeper as he continued speaking. She knew he was lying, but no one else did. Eunhee was asked several questions and she her Charisma and answered as well.
Soryong shared a look with Daeryong who just put a finger to his lips. The twins made sure the classroom was quiet when the teacher walked back in to teach the last class of the day. Eunhee sat by Daeryong, noticing Jia’s empty seat again.
“Can we see Jia later?” She whispered to him.
Daeryong grinned, “I was just about to ask you that.” He said, nodding. “I’m sure you want to tell her what happened.”
Eunhee nodded back, she looked at the blackboard and tried to pay attention. It was rather difficult, but she managed. The idea that Daeryong was an Elemental too was rather unbelievable.
The likelihood of that happening was too minute, but yet it was the case. She had to tell Jia, on top of that, she had to tell Jia about what happened at school, Soyeon had found out about her.
The bell rang and Daeryong rushed off with Eunhee to go to Jia’s apartment. She was already waiting for them by her lobby. “Been expecting you.” Jia said, walking straight towards her apartment.
Daeryong and Eunhee scrambled to get off the bike in time for Jia to let them into her building. They stood in silence going up the elevator, but as soon as the apartment door was closed, Eunhee and Jia both spoke up.
“I have to tell you something.”
Eunhee looked at Jia confused, “You first then.” She said.
Jia sighed but nodded, “I’m sure it’s not surprising to Daeryong, but you’re the Princess, Eunhee. Princess of the Elementals, destined to be Queen.” She said.
“….What.”
