CHAPTER X
UNFINISHED BUSINESSAfter my class Kris insisted that we spend the day together outside. He made it a point this morning that I will wait for him outside the nunnery.
"Don't go home, I will pick you up," Kris said. So here I am, waiting for him outside smiling like a child on Christmas morning.
After 5 minutes I saw Kris on his bike rushing. Behind him is his father. "Kris, you're" I started to warn him. Maybe he forgot. "I know, Let's go, we can't go home straight" He responded.
We spent up until midnight outside and just got rid of Dr. Wu because of the festival at the other town. I never got around to inform Kris about the phone call.
The next day, I busied myself cleaning the house. I was our rest day and we woke up late. Every now and then I feel Kris stealing glances and smiles as i catch him doing so.
Should I tell him? He is happy, I don't want to ruin his mood. Our promise echoed in my ear. No more secrets. Acid came to my throat. To hide mytears beginning to fall, "Kris, can I go for a walk at the beach alone?"
Kris stared at me like I informed him we are expecting child. One, two, three, four, eighteen, nineteen, twenty minutes passed before Kris said yes." I'm not a kid Kris," I told him and gave him a kiss as I went out. With no turning back I went to the coffee shop by the sea to meet Mrs. Wu.
