None was able to know how to comfort their brother who locked himself inside his room, crying his heart out. Even Baekhyun was helpless himself. How he wish he can be there by his best friend side, to comfort him like they always do to each other, but Chanyeol just practically kicked everybody out, including Baekhyun himself. Baekhyun was sad that his best friend didn’t even want his presence with him.

“Chanyeol, please come out of the room... You need to eat something. You haven’t eaten anything this afternoon.” Joon Myeon tried knocked on the door, tried for the umpteenth time to coax the younger to come out of the room.

But still, no answer was heard from inside the room. Chanyeol was really broken. Can you imagine how it must be feeling when you are disowned by your own family? It broke your heart into unbelievable state. That’s what Chanyeol currently feeling. He was broken inside out. He didn’t even have the strength to live anymore.

“Chanyeol, you’re better unlock the room before I knocked it down myself.”

Even threat didn’t affect the younger into unlocking the door to come out of the room. The rest of boys were really devastated to see the condition of Chanyeol. They were worried that Chanyeol will do something stupid inside the room since they heard no sound coming out of the room, not even his sobs.

“Chanyeol, please come out. You’re making us worried, you know...”

Joon Myeon gave up as he walked back downstairs with the tray of untouched food he left in front of the room hours ago. Looking at the untouched food, everyone could only sigh in disappointment. Kris suddenly stood up from seat as he walked upstairs towards the Room 5. Instead of knocking, Kris just sat down on the floor, leaning against the door.

“Would you like to hear a story?” Instead of persuading the younger to come out, Kris decided to use his own way. He didn’t care if the others downstairs were listening to him, but he was sure he heard the shuffle sound behind the door. Don’t ask him how but he knew the younger must be leaning against the door from the other side. If there was no door in between, they will definitely lean against each other backs.

Hearing no reply from the other side of the door, Kris decided to start his story, “A close friend of mine, back in Canada. He was raised by a single mother. In the age of 10, his parents separated. His father chose to abandon his wife and son for another woman. The son hated his father for abandoning them in the most difficult times of their life. For first three years since the separation, the father still sending financial help for them and never gave up in reaching for his son. Although he might be separated with his wife, he still wanted to reach out for his son, but the son was too blinded by hate for his father to see the sincere in the man.”

Kris paused for a while before continued on.

“Three years; the father waited for three years for his son to open his heart for him again. All it took for one accident to make the son to take a look back at his father. One accident that took away the life of his father, but by that time, it was too late already. It was too late for him for regret. When his father had already closed his eyes forever, that’s when he finally can finally hear what his real heart that been clouded by angers for all those years. That was the only regret he would take with him for the rest of life; the regret of giving up.”

It was silence around from a while before Kris heard the soft whisper from behind the door. It was so soft that he almost missed it. “But he’s the one who gave up on me.”

Kris sighed in relief as he got any reaction of the younger behind the door, although it’s very soft. “Then what about you? Will you give up as well? Will you give up on him? Are you sure you won’t regret it one day when everything’s too late?”

No reply from the one behind the door.

“Your father said those hurtful words out of anger. Don’t give up on him, Yeol. I don’t want you turn up like that boy. Although it’s very hard, but when God still give you a chance to fix it, don’t ever waste that chance or time. Don’t wait until you had lost the chance for you to realize. It’ll be too late already.”

Kris words were like a stab into Chanyeol heart. He didn’t know why but the story Kris just told him really got into his heart. He didn’t want to be that boy. He didn’t want for regret to come and find him. It would be too late to turn back the time. So what if his father disowned him? So what if his father doesn’t want to see him again?

He wanted his family. He wanted his parents. And he would do anything for his father to acknowledge him again as his son. He would do anything for his father to understand him. He will show his father that he can be proud of his youngest son even he’s not becoming a lawyer.
