I made a beeline towards homeroom today.
I need to tell him my feelings.
This was the only thing that was running inside my mind.
I opened the door and saw that there were only a few people inside.
And Onew was one of them.
I smiled. Luck is on my side today.
"Onew?" I approached him.
Once again, he froze in place.
I wonder why he always does that?
When he didn't answer, I quickly continued.
"Onew, I need to tell you something. Please listen, this is really imp--"
"Oppa~" Suddenly, a hand began to cling to Onew's.
It was Jessica.
And she was giving me a y glare.
But I won't back down. Not right now.
I ignored her and continued to speak.
"Onew? Can we talk? In private?" I pleaded with my eyes.
Onew looked at me, a little confused.
"Oppa! You promised me you would teach me this morning before the quiz!" Jessica butted in.
"This won't take long." I continued to bargain with Onew, ignoring Jessica completely.
"There's only a few minutes left, oppa! Then class would start! You don't want me to fail do you?" She tried to make her voice sad but it just sounds pathetic to my ears.
"See? Here!" She s her phone forward.
She was pretending to show it to Onew but it was obvious she was intending that I saw it.
"You texted me, remember? You promised! Here, I'll read it: Sure, Jessica. I'll tutor you in the morning." Then Jessica looked at me and smiled smugly.
"Right after that, you said goodnight to me." But she was looking at me the whole time she was talking, her smug smile makes me want to scratch her eyes out.
"Uhm...But that's only because you said goodnight to me first. I was trying to be polite." Onew said hastily while still looking at me.
"Please, Maki. It doesn't mean any--"
"I get it." I narrowed my eyes and returned to my seat.
I saw a triumphant glint in Jessica's eyes.
"Wait. Maki--" Onew stood up but Jessica held him down.
"Let's start now, oppa!"
I frowned. Oppa, oppa, oppa!?
Why was she calling him oppa anyway?! The nerve of that girl!
How annoying.
Wait, are they together already? I'm worried.
I looked over at them and Jessica was still clinging to him and even trying to fix his hair.
The sad thing was, Onew was letting her.
Just like a real girlfriend.
That depressed me. Okay, I never considered the fact that Onew was now part of a couple before I decided to tell him how I really felt.
Now, I'm wondering if I should tell him at all.
The whole day was nauseating. Jessica was still beside Onew and she was always giggling and whatever.
I did my best not to give up, though. All I needed was five minutes alone with Onew.
Just five minutes.
To tell him everything.
How I was thankful for his patience and for the lessons, how I'm sorry for my insensitivity, how I still want to be friends, and...
How much I love him.
I made so many attempts, all of which left me feeling frustrated.
By the lockers:
Me: Onew? *approaches him since he was all alone*
Onew: *turns to me slowly, puzzled.*
Me: I need to tell you something. Please, listen...okay?
Onew: *just stares back* O-Ok--
Jessica: Oppa!! I think they need you in the council room now! There's an emergency! *drags Onew away*
Me: Wait! Wait! Onew! This will be really qu--
Jessica: *stares daggers at me* He's. Needed. Now. *successfully drags a confused Onew away.*

In the hallways:
Me: Onew! Onew! *runs quickly.*
Onew: *turns around, surprised.* Maki? What's wrong?
Me: *panting a little from running (so not a fit person)* On...*huffs* Wait. *Leans on the wall.* I...*huff.* need to tell you something.
/KRINGGGG. (We should be on our way to the next class now.)
Onew: Are you okay?*Looks worried (or is it just me?)*
Me: *nods quickly.* Yes! *huffs for the last time.* I won't keep you. I just need to do this.
Onew: Calm down. *Approaches me, going closer.* I won't go any--
Principal: Why are you still here? Mr. Lee! Ms. Teppei! You should be in class right now! Especially you, Mr. Lee! What kind of example are you trying to set?! You're the class president! Get to class NOW!
Onew: *jumps* Yes, sir! *turns to me.* Let's talk about this later.

That was just a sample. There were a lot more attempts.
All of them were a failure.
If it wasn't a teacher, the principal, or his friends dragging him away or intervening, it was Jessica, who always successfully manages to steal Onew away with some stupid problem or excuse.

"What's wrong with you?" Mika asked me at lunch time.
"Nothing." I mumbled and closed my eyes.
We were at the bleachers. I have no appetite again and it's been weeks since I last ate chocolate.
It's a wonder what love can do.
"It's still Onew, huh? I saw Jessica hanging all over him..."
I didn't say anything.
"Oh, Mak. I'm sorry." She hugged me.
I smiled weakly. "He's not the only guy in the world, right?"
"Of course! Pfft. There are lots of hotties in our school. Don't worry, I'll find you one."
I didn't reply.
I really don't think anyone can replace him, anyway.
But apparently, I'm replaceable.

I sighed. What am I thinking? It's not like we're together!
"Stop sighing already!" Mika said as she studied her music sheet.
I looked at her and made a face. "Hey, how's glee club?"
"Good. I'm not in yet, though." She smiled.
"And Jonghyun?" I asked absently.
She blushed. "Jonghyun...uhm..he's a great mentor." I noticed her wide smile and twinkling eyes.
Something's definitely going on with these two.
"Details?" I asked.
"Oh...uhm, I don't really want to depress you more. Given your current state." She shrugged.
"So you two are together or what?"
"What?" She giggled.
I narrowed my eyes. I hate giggles.
"Nevermind." I sighed again.
"Hey, I bet everything will work out in the end." She said softly.
I smiled.
But I knew the truth. It won't work out.
There's no chance at all.
