MAKI'S POV
Since Mika seems to be okay now, it's time I set my plan in motion.
I walked nervously. Whew. I really hope I can pull this off.
I stopped in front of the store, hesitating.
It's now or never. I sighed.
"Hey!" I opened the door, hoping I sound cheerful.
He looked up from the magazine he was reading. "Hey, Maki! What brings you here?" He puts the magazine down and smiles at me.
"Well..." I smiled sweetly. "Can you lend me your lock-picking skills?"

Key and I entered the school gates again. "Are you sure he's still here?" I asked.
"100%. He has a meeting till 4:30pm." He checked his watch, it's 4:15pm.
"Come on." He opened the door for me and I went inside.
"Which one is his locker again?" We walked down the halls quickly and quietly.
"22." He looked at the lockers. "Here it is!" He fumbled with the lock with a pin he borrowed from my hair. It was a lock and key kind of locker so I watched as he expertly jiggled the lock.
He opened it in 10 seconds flat.
"Wow." I was amazed.
"It's nothing." He shrugged modestly.
I put in the coupons quickly. I placed it on top so that he'll see it first when he opens his locker.
I was about to close his locker when I notice something on the side.
It's a picture.
A picture of us! In the themepark. The one he took with his phone!
The one he took when we were just strolling around.
I looked at our smiling faces, feeling sad and happy at the same time.
He has a picture of us. In his locker.
"Hey, you okay?" Key nudged me.
I looked at him. "Y-yeah." My voice cracked.
"We have 10 minutes." He pointed at his watch.
I nodded and quickly closed Onew's locker, my heart still feeling heavy.
"In here!" Key pulled me onto the side.
"What are we doing?"
"We're going to wait and see his reaction once he opens his locker!" Key smiled at me excitedly.
"Uh...Okay."
We waited for 5 minutes then Key's phone started ringing.
"Oh wait, it's Minho. I'll have to take this. Stay here, okay?"
I nodded and he hurried off to enter a vacant classroom to answer the call.
I waited, crouching. Whew. This sure is--
Hey wait! It's Onew!!
He's walking down the halls, slowly.
I gulped as he bent down to open his locker.
I watched as his face looked puzzled by the colorful papers on top of his books. He took them out and his mouth dropped open as he read the first one.
I bit my lip. Hoping for just even a tiny smile.
I saw his hands shook and he just sat on the floor for awhile.
He looks sad.
Again.
What did I do wrong this time?!
He closed his eyes and leaned his head on the lockers.
What's happening? Why does he look so stressed?

Slowly, I approached him.
"Hey, Onew." I said feebly, dropping the formality.
He frozed in the middle of his stacking.
He looked at me slowly, nodded, then he looked away again, and started to fix his things faster.
"Listen," I crouched down beside him. "It's been 11 days. Are you still mad?" I touched his arm lightly.
I thought I heard him take a breath.
But he didn't say anything.
"I'm sorry...Okay? I didn't mean any of--"
"It's fine." He suddenly cut me off. But he still wouldn't look at me. He started to stand up.
I quickly stood up too.
"No, it's not. You're still mad. And I'm really miserable, Onew. I don't like NOT being friends with you."
He turned slowly towards me, his eyes weren't cold anymore.
That's when I felt my heart breaking.

"Maki. Stop this." He said seriously, his eyes seemed to hold back emotions.
"Why?" I looked at him searchingly, trying to make sense of all this.
"Stop apologizing." He leaned near me.
"No." I shook my head. "I don't want to. Not until you accept my--"
He suddenly slammed his hands on the lockers.
I gasped, shocked.
"Stop making this so hard for me." His eyes were almost pleading.
"Please.."
What? What is going on?!
"Onew...what's happening?"
He took a deep breath and leaned away, turning his back to me.
He looked down on the ground for a few moments before facing front again.
"I'm not mad anymore. So stop apologizing, okay?" His voice sound detached.
Really? Then why is he still acting so bizarre?
He turned away from me.
"Well...If it's really okay," I said in a last effort to make things between us right again, "Then let's...let's..." I racked my
brain for an excuse.
"let's...go out for chicken! My treat!" I said in an overly cheerful voice.
No way could he resist chicken, right? Especially free chicken.
Suddenly, he went near his locker.
"I'm sorry, but I'm busy." He slammed his locker shut, carried his bag and walked away.
I choked up, staring at his retreating figure.
He's lying.
He said it's fine already.
But it's not.
It's not fine.
Not at all.
I took a deep breath to calm myself.
"Hey..." I felt someone touch my shoulder.
I looked up.
"I'm sorry." Key crouched down beside me, looking apologetic.
I bit my lip and managed a crook smile despite my breaking heart.
"I'm almost getting used to it."
