Mika had convinced me not to give up on Onew.
"I don't want to anymore." I pouted.
"He's a really good friend, Mak. Do you really want to forget about everything just like that?" She scolds me.
"But he's already forgotten! How come he's allowed and I'm not?" I hugged her pillow.
"Do you really think he forgot? Men are always like that! They act like they don't care but they do. They always do!"
"Really?" I stared at her. "How did you know that?"
"It's basic knowledge!" She looks exasperated.
"Huh...I didn't know that."
"As usual. Being good in academics isn't everything, you know."
"Whatever. It's the only thing I'm good at."
"Well you won't go very far in life." She shrugs.
Yeah. I'm an epic fail. Again.
"So do you think this is good enough?" She waves the paper in my face.
"Yeah. I think it's nice. And your voice goes well with it."
"What if he won't give me a chance? Auditions are over after all."
"Hmm...Yeah. We'll think of something."
So we spend the whole night just doing our own thing.
She's working on her song and I'm working on how I will become friends with Onew again and the only creative thing I can think about is coupons.
Yeah, that's creative enough for me.
Coupon#1 Maki will treat Onew to chicken and drinks.(good for 1 meal only)
Coupon#2: Maki will accompany Onew to the movies. (Onew can choose the movie as long as it's not gory!)
Coupon#3: Maki will take Onew anywhere he likes.(as long as we don't stay longer than 8pm. Maki has a curfew.)
Coupon#4: Maki will agree to teach Onew a lesson/subject(as long as it's not dating!)
Coupon#5: Maki won't argue with Onew anymore.(can be used repeatedly unless the situation really calls for an argument.)
Okay, I don't know if my coupons are lame or not, all I know is that I'm willing to do all these.
I decorated the coupons, (thanks to Mika's girly art materials) and pasted pictures and drew hearts, swirls, whatever. I didn't even write any expiration dates.
And even signed it as proof of my seriousness.
In short, I really worked hard on this.
And considering my lack of creative skills, this is totally a proof that I want Onew and me to be friends again.
"I'm done!" I announced.
Mika looked up from her music sheet.
"Let me see."
I handed her the coupons and she scanned them.
"Hey! I thought you were going to be creative?"
"I am!"
"Then..what are these?"
"They're coupons."
"I can see that. What I'm asking is, THESE THINGS ARE CREATIVE ENOUGH FOR YOU????" She frowned.
YES. YES, THEY ARE.
"Uhhmmmmm..."
"Onew will never forgive you." She crossed her arms.
"Well, what do you want me to do? And besides, those are...just the start. I have many more things planned." I lied.
I put everything on those coupons so they better work!
"Psh. Make sure you really mean that." She continues to scan them.
I watch her pretty face twist into a weirded-out expression.
"What the heck are these coupons?!"
"What?" I said defensively. "They're good!"
"They're boring!"
"They're not!"
"Yes they are! Aish." She grabbed some more papers I cut into coupon-like sizes and her markers.
"When you create coupons, you should put these in."
I look at what she's writing and gasped.
Coupon#6: 1 Free Kiss from Maki.
"Yah!" I tried to get the coupon but she placed them out of my reach.
"What the hell is that?! TAKE IT OUT!" I panicked.
"No! Why? Do you want more than one kiss then? Shall I make it ten?" She smiled at me evilly then grabbed the pen.
"It's so easy to put a zero next to the one.." She smiled teasingly, uncapping the pen.
"STOP IT ALREADY!" My eyes widened and I tried to get the coupon back by tackling her.
"No fair!" She gasped, laughing.
"Hey! Stop that! Now look what you make me do!" She made a face.
"What??" I got off her.
"You made me write two zeroes!" She pouted and gave me the coupon.
I looked at it and it now says:
Coupon#6: 100 Free Kiss from Maki.
"You Crazy girl!" I shouted, horrified.
"You made me do it! You shouldn't have tackled me! Now give me that..I'll correct it."
I threw the coupon to her childishly, crossing my arms.
She snorted at my reaction and rolled her eyes.
When she handed the coupon back to me, it now says:
Coupon#6: 100 Free Kisses from Maki.
"What the fudge." I muttered.
"Well, of course. I needed to fix the grammar." She glanced at my face.
"Hey now, don't get mad. You guys will like, consume all the hundred kisses when you two become a couple anyway." She shrugged.
"Or maybe more...maybe thousands?" She looked at me, laughing.
"That depends. Is Onew the kissy type?"
"KJLSHDKGH." I mumbled incoherently.
"I thought so. Just like the others. What did I tell you, huh?"
"....."
She finally sighed.
"Do you want Onew to forgive you?" She had her challenge face on.
I didn't answer.
"Well? Do you or do you not?"
I sighed, finally giving in. "I do. Okay?"
"Then let me help you. I know how boys think. Trust me."
"I don't think Onew's like the others." I said feebly.
"Of course he is. In some degree, all men think alike." She stared at my worried expression.
"Look, this will be just additional coupons. Okay?"
Then she created some more coupons.
"Don't you have to work on your song?"
She tossed me her music sheet. "Can you please check for errors?" Then she went back to the coupons.
I sighed and did as she said.
It was really quite good and I think she'd ace this song.
So how will we get Jonghyun to listen?
Hmm...
"Here you go!" She gave the coupons to me cheerfully.
"Don't you dare throw those away! Okay?" Then she grabbed her music sheet again.
I looked at the coupons:
Coupon#7: Onew gets a free 10 minute hug from Maki. (can be continous or split into seconds/minutes)
I shook my head, horrified.
Coupon#8: Dinner Date. It's a Dutch, okay?
Dinner date?! My mom will never allow me! Or...whatever.
Coupon#9: Maki will give Onew a free massage! (upper body part only.)
I gulped. Where the hell does Mika get these ideas?!
Coupon#10: Maki will go to Onew's house. (Anytime Onew wants, as long as it's not after 8pm. Single use only.)
Well...this one's innocent enough, I guess.
I sighed.
This is my last chance. So I hope this really works.

It's officially 1 week and 3 days since Onew and I last talked properly as friends.
And I'm really getting tired of it.
He still won't talk to me at all. Well, except that time when he gave me my english paper.
Onew: Here's your paper, Maki-sshi.
Me: Thank you.
And that time when he had to pass through the doors.
Onew: Excuse me.
Me: *moves out of the way*
Yeah, I don't think that's a conversation. But you get what I mean.
Oh and I remember that time wherein his pen ran out of ink and he had to borrow a pen and I was the only one within the area that has an extra pen but he went all the way to the back to borrow one from Seungho.
Avoiding me much, Mr. Jinki-sshi?
I wonder if today will be any different.
And how the heck am I suppose to give him these coupons? I can't just hand these to him.
What if he throws them away or outright refuses them?
I don't even know why I'm worrying this way.
Maybe I just don't want my hard work to go to waste.
Yes. Exactly!
It's not like I'm worried he won't return my feelings for him or whatever.
Because I totally don't have any romantic feelings for him.
None at all.
"Maki!" Mika called out to me.
"Yeah?"
"You dropped your couple ring in my bed yesterday." She handed it to me.
I stared at it, almost not wanting to touch it.
"Thanks." I sighed and pocketed the ring.
So, I went back to thinking how I could give these to Onew when...
"Okay class, Good morning! Please prepare your pens! We have a surprise quiz!"
My mind instantly became alert.
A surprise quiz?! Wait, what subject...
Oh, it's dating!! . I didn't read at all last night!
"Another quiz, prof? We just had a quiz! The presentation's counted as a quiz, right?" Eunhyuk complained.
"Well, yes. But we won't meet on Friday because I'm one of the profs who's going to attend the seminar. And we're running out of time. But don't worry," He distributed the papers.
"This is really easy!"
I looked at the paper. There were 3 parts:
True/False
Multiple Choice
Essay
I breezed down the first two parts while some of the boys were still grumbling.
I glanced over at Onew again. He looked bored. And he was answering quite slowly. He usually answers fast and submits his paper immediately.
I sighed and looked at the third part.
Essay again! This was the reason for my C before. I won't let it happen again!
Choose two and explain briefly. Erasures are not allowed.
Casual Dating, Online Dating, Grand Gesture, Going Dutch, Group Dating, and Courtship.
I stared at the paper. I know exactly how to explain each one.
Thanks to the reports...and to Onew.
But staring at these words, it just keeps on reminding me when Onew used to teach me.
I sneaked a glance at him again.
He was staring at his paper too. There was that unreadable emotion on his face again.
I looked at my paper again. Online and Group Dating were presented by my classmates.
As for Casual Dating...
Was explained by Onew when he came over to my house that one time.
Grand Gesture...
I fully understood it with Onew filling my locker with those flowers. Well at least, that seemed like a grand gesture. Uhm...right?
Going Dutch...
We just did that at our friendly date.
Courtship...
Onew explained that to me well too.
Somehow though, I end up choosing Online and Group Dating. Just thinking about Onew and our lessons before gives me Onew Ache.If such a thing exists.
So I answered it the best way I can. I just hope it's correct. I really need at least an A to get a headstart again.
I sighed and looked over at Onew again. He was still staring at the paper.
Hmm..Probably reviewing his answers.
I put my head down on my desk and closed my eyes.
How will I give Onew the coupons?
Think, Maki, Think!
HEY WAIT!
I lifted my head up.
I know exactly how to give these coupons to Onew.
I smiled, satisfied. Now all I need to do is...
"Okay, guys. Pass your papers!"
It's time already?
We passed our papers and Mr. Kangta dismissed us.
I hurried out with Mika when,
"Maki-sshi?" Someone tapped me in the back.
"I'll save us seats!" Mika called out to me and sprinted away.
I turned around. Then my eyes widened. It was Onew.
"Y-yes?" I tried to make my voice sound normal.
"You dropped this." He held out his hand.
It was my part of the couple ring. I cannot believe I dropped my couple ring again! ><
"Oh...Uhm, thanks." but I just stared at his hand.
I remember when I used to hold it.
I started to take the ring when he suddenly closed his palm with my hand still inside it.
He was holding my hand again.
I looked at him questioningly.
He looks like he was going to say something.
But he just closed his mouth and stared at me.
There was that unreadable emotion in his eyes. The same expression he always has these days.
I opened my mouth to ask him what's wrong
but then he bit his lip, looked down, and opened his palm again.
"Here you go." His voice was shaky.
I know I looked confused but I managed to utter "Uhm...Thanks." and took the ring swiftly from his hand and turned around to walk away.
I looked back, though.
He was looking up in the ceiling, sighing.
I looked away.
What was that all about?
