Mandy’s POV

Continued flashback

“How long have you been standing here?” Mandy asked

“Just long enough” Gagan said as he entered her room and crashed on the bean bag. “You didn’t tell me I was your first crush” he grinned at her mischievously

“Yeah well, it’s in the past now” Mandy said arrogantly as she stood in front of him with her arms crossed in front of her chest

“Is it?” he asked arching an eyebrow

“Absolutely” Mandy said in the same tone as before and turned around but gasped when he was suddenly behind her and held her from her waist.

“Is it really?” he whispered to her and kissed her lightly on her neck.

Mandy shivered and got goose bumps all over her. He lightly turned her around and held her close to his body.

“Why do you want to marry me?” Mandy asked “I mean you could have your pick of any girl in the world, why me?” she asked

“It would take us the whole day” he said to her “and night” he lightly added as a whisper “to go through all the reasons”

“You caught me off-guard there for a moment, but I’m not falling for your tricks again. So tell me, why me?” Mandy said as she looked him straight in the eyes.

“I don’t know, it’s just that you are you” he said

“You have to be more elaborate than that”

“You are funny, you are smart, you are the only girl who like knows me for who I am, not for the image I have to put up in front of the public, and also my parents approve of you”

“So that’s the main reason” Mandy said sadly and started to distance herself from him but he caught her and pulled her back against him.

“No, the main reason would be that I like you”

“You, the playboy, like me? It’s hard to believe that you like me when you have the most beautiful women falling at your feet and begging you to spend time with them.”

“They are only after my money” he stated

“And that bothers you? I haven’t seen you bothered by it in the past” she said

“That’s what it is, in the past. You can only have so much of meaningless ” he said truthfully

“But…”

“And as it also turns out, you were also my first crush”

“I was?” Mandy asked, with a deer caught in the headlights expression. He nodded. “Then why didn’t you say anything before?”

“I really don’t know” he said and shook his head and smiled, but then he looked at her “So?”

“So what?” Mandy replied back

“Would you?”

“What?”

“You know, consider marrying me?”

“Maybe” she as she put her arms around his neck

“Anything I can do to make it more concrete?” he smiled at her as he got a little closer to her and now Mandy’s game was backfiring at her.

She gave a weak ‘maybe’ as a reply as she looked directly in his eyes.

“Good, coz I always wanted to do this” and he scooped her up from the ground and dropped her on the bed lightly.

“Yah! What are you planning to do?” she said as she quickly got up from the bed and to the other side and into a fighting stance.

He chuckled lightly as he crossed over to the other side at slowly started walking towards her.

“I am warning you, don’t you dare try anything funny with me” Mandy said as she started backing up.

“Or what, you are going to beat me up?”

“Yes”

“Is that what you are going to do at our honeymoon too, coz then it’ll probably destroy the whole purpose of it, won’t it?” he smirked at her and stopped two feet away from Mandy when he saw her back pressing against the wall. “I will not do anything to you, and I was not planning to either, at least not now” he smirked at her. “I will never touch you without your permission” he said seriously

“Then what were you planning to do?” Mandy asked cautiously

He stepped forward and said to her in a light whisper “Just press my body against yours” and he did so “and whisper sweet nothings to you that would drive you senseless.” And he lightly kissed her on the neck, again; which made her shudder, again.

“Oh my god!” he suddenly said and distanced himself from her a little

“What happened?” Mandy asked worried

“I didn’t think I would ever see it in this lifetime”

“What?” Mandy asked, totally baffled by this change of course

“You blushing” he explained and laughed a little. “This is a moment to remember, we should capture this” he said

“I don’t blush” Mandy said defiantly, but checked herself in the mirror to verify it but she could see hints of red on her cheeks, which were fading fast.

“Oh, you were blushing alright.” he smiled cockily at her. But just then someone knocked on the door and Mandy walked towards it and opened it to find a maid, asking them to come down for dinner.

“We’ll be down in a moment” and Mandy dismissed her. She then turned towards Gagan “we have to go down for dinner” and she turned back again, but he stopped her when he held her wrist.

“I didn’t get an answer” he said “I’m not letting you leave before you give me one”

“I already gave you my answer, it’s Maybe” she said and retrieved her wrist from his grip and turned around to move downstairs “For now” she said before she went downstairs. Gagan smirked and followed her.

“So what’s your decision?” the ‘auntie’ asked

“A ‘Maybe’” Mandy replied

“What is that supposed to mean?” Mandy’s father asked

“It means that we are not sure if we want to do this. Everything is out in the open and now we’ll see how it goes from here” Gagan replied

“So you told him?” Mandy’s mother asked her

“What?”

“That you know, he was…” Mandy’s mother said

“You knew?!” Mandy asked

“Everyone in this house knew; Gagan this, Gagan that; you couldn’t stop talking about him whenever he visited” Mandy’s father said

“Dad!” Mandy said, feeling embarrassed as she gave him the death glare

“Yes, she told me” Gagan grinned at her

“Yeah well, turns out, he has had a crush on me too” Mandy said proudly

“We know” all the parents said in unison

“You do?” Gagan asked

After Gagan and his parents left after dinner, the first thing Mandy did was lock herself in her room and call Niya, who picked up after three rings.

“It’s 10 in the night, why are you calling me so late?” Niya asked with an irritated voice

“Get up, it an emergency” Mandy said in a panicked tone

“What happened, you ipad is not working?” Niya asked sarcastically

“Gaganaskedmetomarryhim” Mandy said breathlessly

“Ok, slow down; I didn’t get a single word of what you said”

“Gagan…” Mandy said and then paused

“What about him?”

“He visited”

“Yeah so? Oh god, are you still not over him? I thought it ended by the time you turned 17.”

“It did, but something happened”

“What?”

“He asked me to marry him”

“What?!” Niya shouted at the top of her voice

“Yeah, I know”

“I mean, what, how, why?” Niya said

“I got back home yesterday…” and she explained the whole thing to Niya. “What do you think I should do?”

“I really don’t know” Niya said, too shocked to give any sound advice.

“I mean he can be called a good friend and I’ve known him since childhood and he knows who I am…”

“And he’s your first crush, who also likes you back”

“My feelings exactly; so what should I do?”

“I really can’t give you any advice on this matter; you have always made your own decisions and whatever the consequences, you have never regretted them. I just hope the same goes for whatever decision you take in this matter too.”

“Thanks, bye”

“Ok, and tell me whatever you decide”

The next day Mandy decided to go for a jog to clear her mind. She hadn’t slept a wink in the night and it showed on her face, but sleep still eluded her. She was on her fifth round when she suddenly stopped, turned around and tripped the guy behind her.

“Leave me alone; you gave me enough shocks yesterday by your proposal, let me at least jog in peace.” She said into the hidden microphone as she twisted the fallen guy’s arm behind his back.

Just then her phone ringed

“Why do you do this?” she asked in an irritated voice as she picked up the call.

“That was impressive”

“You are here aren’t you?”

“You know me too well” Gagan smiled at the phone

“I am going to find you and then I’m going to beat the out of you”

“What did I do so wrong?”

“You gave a to-be-bride, dark circles” Mandy smiled at the phone and then turned around when she heard him behind her.

“Does that mean…?”

“What do you think it means?” she smirked at him

“That you are going to marry me”

“Yeah”

“And that now I can do this” he said as he moved in for a kiss but Mandy took a step back.

“But, that does not mean I’m still comfortable doing anything”

“I was just going to kiss you” he said

“In public? Are you mad? This is not Belgium”

“My car is parked just this way” he grinned as he gestured in the direction behind him

“Anything means anything”

“I cannot even kiss you?” he asked, looking a little hurt

“When I’m comfortable enough, I’ll be the initiator” Mandy said and kissed him on the cheek “Till then, get satisfied by this only. And stop following me” she said and jogged towards her car, leaving him behind.

‘I said yes’ she texted Niya and her parents, both sets. Mandy had been up thinking all night, measuring the pros and cons of this marriage. She couldn’t find many cons.

END OF FLASHBACK

“And I’ve since been busy doing this or that. The wedding is in four months so I informed you guys as early as I could so that you could free your schedules and attend it. And Niya and I and other members of my family would be calling you for one information or the other, so be ready for that. And my designer is also going to contact you, she is a bit temperamental, so please bear with her” Mandy said. She had told the whole tale in less than 5 minutes, keeping them only on a need to know basis.

“Your designer? Why would your designer call us?” Jun Pyo asked

“For your wardrobe for the wedding of course; you all are going to wear traditional Indian clothes for my wedding and that is non-negotiable. And I’ll send personal invites to your homes when they get finished. I just had to tell you guys as soon as possible, so therefore, I told my guys to make three sets before doing anything else. And you all have to come at least 3 weeks before the wedding.”

“Why?” Woo Bin asked

“I have to show you my hometown and have to see it once more for myself before I leave. So we’ll go on a quick tour.”

“But what is the rush unnie?” Ga Eul asked

“Gagan wants to get married as soon as possible coz he has kept his life in Austria on hold for six months, out of which one month has passed. I can’t complain if he has put his whole life on hold for me.”

“But that leaves you with five months, not four” Jan Di said

“Um, yeah, one month for…” Mandy paused, suddenly feeling shy

“Honeymoon?” Jun Pyo asked bluntly

“Uh, um yeah” Mandy said laughing lightly. “Um, guys? I have to go now; lots of work to supervise; but you have to promise to come.”

“We’ll be there unnie” Ga Eul said

“Great. Bye guys, I love you all” and the screen went blank
