Exams came and went and it was the result day now. After the day of slow dancing, Ji Hoo had realized that he was starting to like Mandy. But he knew that he could not let his feelings get out of control; he didn’t want to become brokenhearted all over again when she went back to India. So he put his feelings in check and moved on.

“I’m really nervous” Mandy said, sitting in the F4 lounge on result day.

“It’ll be fine unnie” Jan Di assured her

“When is it coming out?” Yi Jung asked, looking at his wristwatch

“It will get disclosed in 3 minutes”

“How can you be so exact?” Jun Pyo asked

“There is a specific time when the result is disclosed; now only two minutes are left” she said, fidgeting in her seat

“Just take a deep breath, it’ll be fine” Ga Eul suggested “All is well, all is well”

Mandy laughed lightly on their inside joke and opened the link for the university website on her ipad and handed it to Ga Eul

“You tell me, and start from the bottom; you’ll probably find me there” Mandy said and squeezed her eyes shut

“What is it?” Jan Di asked Ga Eul, who was surfing the list

“I don’t see unnie’s name”

“What about sunbae?” Jan Di asked

“Omigod” Mandy whispered “Oh My God!” she shouted up and down with excitement and hugged everyone.

“Congratulations” Ji Hoo said weakly

“Are you jealous that I got a higher rank than you?” she asked very ‘innocently’

“Of course I am” Ji Hoo laughed

“We need to party!” Woo Bin announced

“I can’t go” Mandy said

“But why?” Jun Pyo asked

“I have somewhere to go today; we’ll party after the graduation ceremony” Mandy said and started heading for the door

“But where are you going?” Jan Di called out, but Mandy had already gone through the door.

“Let her be, she has gone to celebrate her way” Ji Hoo said

“Where is she going?” Woo Bin asked

“Uijeongbu area” Ji Hoo said and moved towards his audio system

“What’s there?” Jan Di asked

“Her place of worship” he replied and told them about the Diwali incident.

“So why has she gone there now?” Jun Pyo asked

“To hold up her end of the bargain” Ji Hoo said

“Will you stop talking in puzzles and tell us?” Yi Jung said

“A day before the papers, she went there and made a wish that if she passed the exams, she would donate her entire savings to a charity.” Ji Hoo said

“Oh, that’s so sweet” Jan Di said

“More like a bribe system” Jun Pyo said

“Everyone has their own faith; we are no one to judge. And you probably don’t get it because you’ve never been to religious institution all your life. Actually except Ji Hoo sunbae, I think none of you have” Jan Di said to the guys.

“Never needed to; we always got what we wanted, never had to pray for it” Yi Jung said.

Yi Jung’s exhibition was coming up in a few days and two days after that was Mandy and Ji Hoo’s graduation ceremony.

Mandy’s sister and her brother-in-law were going to attend the ceremony. Niya was also going to be there.

“Is Harbeoji coming?” Mandy asked Ji Hoo on the day of the exhibition.

“Yeah, he said he would come”

“Great, I wanted to see him once before I went back” Mandy said

“You know, you never really told me when you are leaving, you just said that you’ll leave after the graduation ceremony, but never the exact date.”

“We are leaving a day after that” Niya walked towards them and said

As she had promised Yi Jung, she had come two days earlier than scheduled so that she could attend both the exhibition and graduation.

The day of the graduation ceremony came and Ji Hoo and Mandy had been handed their certificates with their other batch-mates. Then the class valedictorian, Baek Sueng Jo, gave a small speech in Korean, which Mandy didn’t understand a word of. After the photos of the class were taken, all the students were free to go.

“Dr. Mandeep Kaur” Harleen greeted Mandy with a hug when Mandy got off the stage.

“Please don’t call me that; makes me feel like I’m in my fifties” Mandy giggled

“Then you should’ve thought of that before; because that’s what I’m going to call you now” Sarabjeet

“Papa!” Mandy playfully hit him “Where’s my present?” Mandy asked eagerly

“It’s back home waiting for you” said Sarabjeet

“What is it?” Mandy asked

“It’s a surprise, but I’m sure you’ll be happy to see it” Harleen said

“And there’s a bad news too” Sarabjeet added

“What? What happened?” Mandy asked

“We have to go” Sarabjeet said

“Now?!”

He nodded “I have a really important meeting tomorrow”

“And what about you?” Mandy asked her sister

“I have to go too; we couldn’t bring Miraya because she was a little ill, so I have to go back to her as soon as possible” Harleen said, with a hand on Mandy’s cheek.

“Ok fine, you go; and tell Miraya to get better soon; she and I have a lot of pending activities that we planned to do together.” Mandy said sadly

“Hey, don’t be so down, Niya’s here with you” Harleen consoled her

“I know; thanks for coming.” Said Mandy

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world” Sarabjeet said and Mandy hugged him tight

“See you at home kiddo” Harleen said as she hugged Mandy

And then they were gone.

“Hey, where did they go?” Niya asked Mandy as she joined her with two water bottles in her hands.

“They had to go” Mandy said “But where were you?”

“I was feeling thirsty, so I went to the campus vending machine” Niya said as she offered her a bottle “You want?”

“No thanks, I’m fine. Did you see Ji Hoo? Or any of the F4? I can’t see them around” Mandy said as she turned around in her spot to search the whole area.

“No, but I think I see Jun Pyo. That is him right?” Niya said pointing to a tall person with curly locks standing on the other end from them.

“Yeah, it’s him. Let’s go” Mandy said

When they approached the group, Jan Di greeted her.

“Congratulations unnie”

“Thanks”

“Hello Dr. Yoon” Mandy grinned sheepishly at Ji Hoo

“Hello to you too Doctor” Ji Hoo grinned back at her

“Why are you both acting like you are 50 year olds?” Jun Pyo asked

“Because now we have to act responsibly, now that we are ‘doctors’” Mandy grinned “Oh god, I still can’t believe this; I’m a doctor, and not the PhD one” Mandy said unbelievingly

“You’ll get the hang of it eventually” someone said from behind her

“Harbeoji! How are you now?” Mandy said as she clung to the old man’s arms.

“I am good. Congratulations” he said

“Thank you!” Mandy beamed a smile at him

“Harbeoji, did you forget us?” Jan Di said as she greeted him

“How can I forget you? You are my lotus flower” he said to Jan Di, smiling at her

“And what am I?” Mandy asked excitedly

“You are my lily” he said

Mandy giggled and Ji Hoo also gave a little smile.

“How did you know?” Mandy asked the old man

“Know what?”

“That lily is my favorite”

“It is? I didn’t know that. But it suits you”

“How?”

“Because you are just like one”

“But how?” Mandy pleaded

“I’ll tell you the next time we meet”

“But I’m going back tomorrow” Mandy moaned

“Then you’ll have to come visit me of you want to know that”
