The Awaiting Future
The Perfect Fake GirlfriendAutumn quickly approached and so was the final exams. Almost every student's stress meter dramatically increased and above all's was Hyemi's.
With work and studies piling up, she had no time to herself or to others anymore, all except her brother of course. Most student would've taken a break from their part time jobs however Hyemi hasn't in all two of her jobs. Working extrememly late to the hours of 11pm and continuing to study to the hours of 3am then only having three hours sleep, this was a tough time for Hyemi. However, she learned from the last time and took better care of herself. She was managing to eat properly along with taking medicine for precautions. She couldn't afford being sick even for a day. Being sick meant not being able to study, causing her to fail. Being ill also meant having a day off work and that meant less money.
It was a friday and Kai found himself walking towards the library with Kyungsoo after school hours. With the final exams slowly approaching, his friend was slowly getting more anxious and stress by each passing day. As for him, he questions himself why he's with Kyungsoo as Kai didn't really care about failing or passing. However, from the strong words of his friend, he was forced to accompany him to the library.
As he strolled past dozens of bookshelves, Kai was gradually drifting to his thoughts. For the past weeks, Kai hasn't been able to get in touch with Hyemi long enough for him to investigate. Him making excuses for double dates and study sessions were complete fails. He knew the final exams were coming up and he was 99% sure that Hyemi was the daughter of Mr. Lee but he just needed to know more. He sighed out loud as he brushed his fingers mindlessly across the spines of the books. He reached to the end of the room and found a chair to sit in.
Before Kai could sit down, his gaze was captured by a familiar figure. A smirk pulled against his lips as he quietly and carefully walked towards the sleeping figure. He gently removed the book that blocked the face of the person. The smirk remained on Kai's playful face as he found Hyemi's sleeping face. He carefully sat down on the seat next to her and copied her position. Kai continued to stare at her peaceful face for a while, amused by every little thing about her: how her eyes doesn't completely close; how her lips were slightly parted and the way her breathing changes in her sleep. All these little thing unknowingly became interesting in Kai's eyes.
After a while, a mischevious idea popped up in Kai's head. He excitedly pulled his phone out from his trouser pocket and pressed a few buttons. With a playful smile on his face, he brought the phone close to Hyemi's face a pressed a button. To Kai's surprise, a sound went off. Kai winced and gritted his teeth together at the sound of the the loud noise. He waited for five seconds before turning his phone on silent and continuing to take pictures of Hyemi's sleeping face.
When he heard Kyungsoo's voice, Kai immediately placed his phone back into his pocket and walked speedily towards Kyungsoo's direction. "Yeah?" he answered.
"What are you doing?" Kyungsoo asked, puzzled.
"Oh, nothing," Kai replied. "Did you find the books that you needed?"
"Yeah," Kyungsoo said.
"Let's go then," Kai finally claimed before turning Kyungsoo and pushing him towards the exit.
Minutes after, Luhan walked through the isle of the library as he scans through the endless amount of books, wanting to find a certain science book. As he headed lower down the isle, he caught a familiar figure. Curious, he walked towards the girl before finally smiling and realising who it was. He sat opposite Hyemi before giving her a tap on the shoulder. "Lee Hyemi," he whispered. Luhan tapped her again, and called out her name louder. "Lee Hyemi."
With that, Hyemi flinched at the sound of Luhan's voice then squinted as her eyes readjusts to the sudden light. "Yah, Hyemi, if you're gonna sleep, go home. It's getting quite late."
Hyemi blinked rapidly, trying to adjust to the situation. Crap. Realisation hit her and once again, she dug her head into her arms. "I said it would only be five minutes," she muffled.
"Well, it's 7pm already," Luhan pointed out. "Did you miss work or something?"
"No," Hyemi said as she sat back up and started packing her books. "I took a leave in the cafe until we finish these exams. I only work in the bookstore on Mondays and Wednesdays."
"Well that's good. At least you'r
