Chapter 22 ^3^

Can You Really Turn My Life Around?

Eunmi/Suhan’s POV

-morning of the flight- 8:00 AM

We decided to go out for breakfast that morning before our flight tonight. I called up the crew and they said yes to eating with us at the cafe near my house. I was in the car next to Luhan as the boys took the other cars. I was lost in thought, staring at the familiar scenery I saw every day through the window. Our talk last night, made me rethink about my life.

-flashback to last night-

“My life has taken a turn for the worst a few years ago, and I’ve been heading in the wrong direction the whole time. I just want to turn around and run towards the right way. Back to my old self.”

“No one can ever return to being the same person, but they can become a new one. And I want to help you, every step of the way, starting now.”

“Can you really turn my life around?”

He reached over and squeezed my hand. “Every step of the way to make you turn around.” He smiled at me.

“Thank you.” I smiled at him and he pulled me into a hug.

“Everyone deserves someone by their side, but it’s all up to you to change it.”

The sentence he told me really hit me, as I drift off into slumber for the final time under the area of night sky where I called home.

-flashback ends-

I was unconsciously smiling when Luhan waved his hand over my face to catch my attention. I snapped back to reality when he started talking.

“Eunmi? What are you thinking about?”

“It’s nothing.” I shook my head. Luhan looked at me a little worried.

“It’s really nothing.” I assured him with a slight smile.

“Alright... well we’re here.” he was getting out. He ran over to my side and opened my door for me.

“Thanks.” I thanked him as we walked inside the cafe. Everyone else was already seated around the table, and we were the last to arrive. The atmosphere was a lot more sadder than the usual happy.

“So it’s finally happening huh?” Tiffany broke the silence.

We all nodded our heads, and the silence was back in tact. We ordered our food, but I was in no appetite to eat. I picked at my food, taking a few bites, when everyone else was just chatting quietly. Sooner or later, everyone was done and we split the bill. We went our separate ways again and went home. The 13 of us sat in silence on the living room floor. I wanted to let out some stress, since the silence was killing me.

“I’m gonna go out for a drive. Kris oppa can you move your car so I can get mine out?” I asked him.

“You can just take my car.” Luhan said.

“I wanna drive my own car one more time before I leave.” I smiled sadly at him.

“Can I come with you?” Sehun begged, earning a slap on the head by Luhan.

“Not today Sehun oppa. I want to be alone today.”

He nodded sadly as Kris got up and grabbed his keys. We went out and I got into my car, and Kris backed his out into the street so I had room to take my car out. As I was about to drive off, Kris knocked on my window.

“If you need someone to talk to, you can always call us.” he managed to smile a bit.

“Nah, I just wanna be alone for today.”

“Just know that we’re here for you ok?” he turned around and got back in his car to drive it in the garage. I put on my sunglasses as I zoomed down the calm neighborhood, off to my first destination. Coit Tower.

I drove to the top of the hill and parked my car, parking lot empty. I took the elevator to the top of the tower and looked out into the San Francisco bay, thinking back to the first time I was here, with my parents.

A tear rolled down my cheek, but I wiped it away, trying to think about the happy moments I spent here with my loved ones before they left me. I sat there for a good hour, just looking at the ocean, and the sky dotted with a few clouds. I couldn’t help but cry, letting the tears held back for so long fall down my face. Hugging my knees, my tears wet my shirt, but I didn’t care. I got up and went down to my car. Speeding off again, I stopped by the pier. The ocean was calm, as the weather was nice today and there was only a slight breeze. The blue sky reminded me of the times I had a picnic here with my mom and dad, laughing and pointing at clouds and passing ships and boats. More tears had been let out, but I managed to keep myself together and drove off to the mall, remembering I had to pick up my last paycheck. I walked into the little pastry shop on the second floor, Minji behind the counter, as business was a bit calm at the time. She saw me coming, and looked me with sad eyes.

“You’re here?” she asked me with a sad smile, her eyes were a bit red and puffy, and I had known she was crying.

“I forgot to pick up my last paycheck when you had it ready for me.” I looked at her, on the verge of tears, but my sunglasses hid them.

“Let me go get that for you.” She walked to the back where her office was, wiping a tear quickly as she got up. I couldn’t help but let the tears I was holding back fall, but wiped them as she came back.

“Here you go.” she passed me the check. I looked at it, and the amount was worth a lot more than I had worked that month.

“Unnie this is too much.” I passed the check back to her, refusing to let her pay me for what I didn’t work for.

“I know, but just think of it as a last present from me. You’ve already done so much for me. I don’t what I’ll do without you here.” She couldn’t hold her tears back anymore, and she started crying. I hopped over the counter and gave a big hug.

“I’ll be back to visit, so don’t worry. And if I don’t I promise to be on stage, waiting to come perform in the US.” I mumbled to her in the hug. She patted my head.

“I’ll be waiting.” She smiled at me and let me go.

“Are you coming over to send me later?” I asked her.

“Yea, I’m closing early today so I’ll be over tonight before you leave. Promise.” she glanced at me.

“I think I should be going now, I still have a few places to visit.” I was about to walk out when she called me back.

“Wait Eunmi! I have something else for you. Just sit and wait.” I obeyed and sat at the table as she started to work behind the counter. She started throwing things into the blender and mixing them. After a few minutes, she walked out to the table with a straw and passed me the sealed drink.

“I wanted to add something new to the menu, so I’ve been experimenting for the last couple weeks. This was the final result, and I wanted you to be the first to try it.” she smiled at me, passing me the straw. I shook the cup and watched the boba and jelly mix in the orangy-pink drink. I poked in the straw and sipped. I could taste out the different fruit flavors, and they were all my favorite.

“I put together all your favorite fruits and added your favorite boba and lychee jelly. It have a combination of mango, peach, strawberries, bananas, and nectarines. Then lastly a tad a milk to lighten up the sweetness.” she told me the ingredients.

“It tastes great. Thank you so much!” I pulled her in for a quick hug and she started talking again.

“I was thinking of naming it ‘Sinless Dreams’. It reminds me of you doing anything possible, and chasing after your dreams. It’s not a sin to chase after your dreams.” she quoted.

“I like that.” I smiled at her as I got up.

“I think I’ll have to excuse myself. I don’t want to waste this beautiful day.” I smiled, walking to the front door.

“I’ll see you later!” she waved at me. I waved back and walked out, holding my drink. I sipped on it slowly, wanting to savor the flavor as I got into my car and drove off to the rural areas of town. I stopped at an empty land slot, and there was a big tree in the middle. I walked up to the tree, holding a bouquet of flowers. Hanging on the tree, was a picture of my parents. I set the flower down beside the tree and kneeled down, looking at the sky as I held onto my necklace.

“I just wanted to visit home one more time.” Laying on my back, looking at the clouds that were gently floating by. Closing my eyes, I thought back to when I lived here. All the times I spent here with my parents. From when I could first start remembering things, all the way up to the day on the incident. I sat up and leaned against the tree, hugging my knees as I started crying, letting the wind blow my hair. I was looking out at the empty area, when my phone rang. It was Luhan again. I wiped my tears and picked up.

“Hello?”

“Eunmi? It’s Luhan. I just wanted to tell you that you have to be back by 7. We have to be at the airport by 8.”

“Alright.”

“I’ll leave you alone now.” he hung up and I just continued to stare at the mountains in the distance for a while. After a while, I managed to get up and walk to my car. It was already 4:00 and I still had one more place to stop by. It took me about an hour to get there, and I pulled up the metal gates. I pushed them aside and walked in with another  2 bouquet of flowers. I walked up to my parent’s graves, and set down their favorite flowers on their graves.

“I’m leaving today.” I kneeled down in between their resting places.

“I promise not to disappoint you guys. I promised to follow my dreams, and now I’m taking a step closer to my goals.” I started tearing up again.

“You’ll be watching me right?” I imagined them nodded their heads.

After the whole day of crying, I finally broke down. I hung my head down and took off my sunglasses, letting my tears fall on the ground. I sobbed like a baby and sat their, conversing with my parents for the next hour or so. I looked at my phone and it was already 6:45. I got up and brushed my knees.

“I guess this is goodbye.” I started crying really hard again, and I gathered all my energy and walked away in tears. I got in my car and put on my sunglasses, speeding down the road home. I cried the whole time I was driving home, not caring how fast I was going. I was driving almost at 100 mph until I was near my house, and I slowed down to a stop. I sat there for another 5 minutes, trying to calm myself down and stop crying anymore. I wiped my tears off and went inside. Minji was already inside, quietly chatting with the boys.

“I’m back.” I said quietly, walking to the living room where everyone was.

“I guess it’s time for us to go.” Suho stood up slowly, the rest of the boys following suit.

“You guys head out first, I’ll be out really quick.” I nodded at them. They quietly shuffled out the front, carrying their luggage.

“I’ll be waiting in the car.” Luhan tried to smile at me. I nodded my head as he walked out with my luggage and his in his hands. I turned over to Minji, and grabbed an envelope that I had prepared yesterday, containing all the documents and keys.

“Inside is all the house documents and the keys to the house.” I passed her the envelope, along with my car keys.

“Thank you for letting me live here, and giving me a car to drive to.” She pulled me into a hug.

“It’s not like I could have taken these with me, and I feel much more relieved knowing that you're in possession of them.” I hugged her tightly.

“I’ll miss you so much.” She started tearing up again. I pulled away and walked to the front, slipping on my shoes and turning back around to her.

“I’ll miss you too.” My eyes tearing up.

“Bye.” I whispered to her as she stepped closer to me.

“Don’t say bye, just think of it as a ‘see you later’.” she smiled sadly at me, tears rolling down her cheeks already.

She walked me out to Luhan’s car and I got in. I rolled down the window, and waved to her as Luhan started driving, the other 2 cars in front. Minji starting disappearing until she wasn’t in sight anymore. I closed the window stared at the city that was passing by. Luhan reached over and squeezed my hand that was resting on my lap. I looked over to him and he smiled at me. I managed to smile back as he focused back on driving, the 3 cars on the freeway speeding past the speed limit, going to the airport. After another 10 minutes, we reached the airport. Luhan helped me out and grabbed our luggage from the back, throwing his keys to the guy that was picking up his car.

“I can get my own.” I said reaching for my bag.

“It’s ok. I got it.” He moved to it wasn’t in my reach. I was drained of energy, so I agreed and walked behind him. Fans were everywhere, cheering for EXO and then a few at the end, cheering for us. We found the rest of the crew as we checked in and walked to the departure zone. I held my passport in hand, ticket tucked inside, as the fans were chanting harder. Some of them were my schoolmates, and most of them were just EXO fans. I turned before going through the security after giving them my passport and ticket. I waved at them and my schoolmates cheered as hard as they could, waving me goodbye. I smiled as I turned back around and Angel latched onto my arm.

“Looks like someone has fans already.” she smiled.

“We all do.” We giggled as we went past security check and we all sat at the gate, waiting for the SM jet to be prepared for the 18 for us.

After an hour of waiting, the flight attendant finally came out, telling us the jet was ready. We gathered all of our stuff and lined up. I handed her my ticket and she scanned it.

"Have a nice flight." She smiled at me.

I nodded and smiled back as I walked past her and onto the plane. All the boys were already seated at the front, and the girls right behind them. I found a seat in the back near a window and sat down. I was dead tired and my eyes were burning from today's emotional day. I felt someone sit next to me and I opened my eyes, seeing Tiffany.

"So what did you do today?" She asked me.

"Just went to visit some places." I looked at her.

“Did you visit your parents?”

“Yea I saw them at my last stop.”

“Are you ok?” she looked at me worried, she noticed my really puffy eyes earlier when I had to take my glasses off at the security checkpoint.

“Yea, I’m fine. Just had a lot going on today.” I cracked a small smile.

“Alright.” she cupped my face.

“Just remember that if you need someone to talk to, you have 17 other people you can talk to.” she chuckled at her own comment.

“Don’t worry I will.”

She got up and walked back to her seat. I closed my eyes again and then another people came and sat next to me. I sighed and opened my eyes and saw Luhan, carrying his stuff.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

He smiled at me and sat down next to me. “Just thought you would want some company.” He dug through his backpack and took out a little bottle. He gave it to me and I looked at what it was, ‘Eye Drops’.

I looked at him. “How did you know I needed this?”

“Don’t think only Tiffany saw your eyes at the security checkpoint. I happened to look over and saw that your eyes were all red and puffy.”

I smiled at him. “Thanks.” I took off my sunglasses and contacts, then dripped the liquid into my eyes. They instantly felt better and weren’t burning anymore.

“Ah this feels good.” I smiled as my eyes were closed, letting the eye drops lubricate my eyes. I gave the bottle back to him, but he pushed my hand back.

“Keep it. Your eyes probably still need more after the few moments of relief. ” He smiled at me.

“Thanks again.” I said as I put the tiny bottle in my bag. We chatted for a couple minutes before the flight captain announced it was time to take off.

“Ladies and gentleman we are now about to take off for Seoul, Korea. Please fasten your seatbelts and enjoy your flight.” he said as the intercom cut off.

The plane started moving and I looked out the window, since this was my first time on the plane. I saw the workers running around the airplane runway and trucks driving past. I must’ve seemed really interested since Luhan startled chuckling at me.

“First time riding and airplane?”

“Yea... could tell?”

“I was like you the first time I rode and airplane.” he smiled.

I nodded as the plane took off and I pulled the window cover shut. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the window. Exhausted from the tiring day, I was finally able to drift off to sleep.

-2 hours later- 8 Hours Until Landing

The plane rumbled a bit from turbulence. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. I felt my head leaning on something warm, and I found that it was Luhan’s shoulder. I slowly got up, careful not to wake him, then I felt a blanket fall to the floor. I picked it up and set it on my seat. He must’ve gave this to me when I fell asleep. I smiled as I walked to the bathroom in the front. I passed by everyone and they were fast asleep. After my quick bathroom break, I headed back to my seat and sat down again. I took off my shoes and crossed my legs on the seat, pulling the blanket over my shoulders. All of a sudden I heard Luhan sneeze from the air conditioning. I smiled as I pulled some of the blanket over to him and covered him too. I leaned on his shoulder again and fell asleep instantly.

-4 hours later- 4 Hours Until Landing

We were all woken up at the sound of the flight attendant talking on the intercom. You could hear loud groans coming from the front, as Tiffany and the boys were also woken up. I could hear a camera being clicked continuously. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Angel and Kyomin sitting across from me, snapping pictures with their camera. They saw me waking up and pretended to be looking at something on their phones. When I was at least half conscious, I felt pressure on both sides of my head. Luhan had scooted closer to me and leaned his head on mine.

(A/N: I’m pretty sure you know what I mean right LOL. When a girl leans her head on a guy’s shoulder and then the guy leans his head on hers. So its like the guy is sandwiching the girl’s head in between his head and shoulder LOLOL.)

“Oppa wake up.” I slowly shook him so I could get up. He slowly woke up and stretched his neck. I was finally able to get up and my body was aching from sitting cross legged and leaning to my left. I cracked my neck and back, letting my legs fall back down, touching the floor. Angel and Kyomin were still sitting across from me, giggling their heads off, looking and pointing at Angel’s camera.

“What are you guys looking at.” I asked them suspiciously.

She leaned over to show me the pictures she just took. It was a picture of Luhan and I sleeping peacefully in the position we were in before we were woken up. I felt my face heat up and I hid behind the blanket quickly, hiding my face.

“What’s wrong?” Luhan still oblivious to what had just happened. I peeked from under the blanket and saw Angel showing him the picture she showed me. His eyes widened at what he just saw and I could see his cheeks flush pink. He looked away and made an excuse to leave.

“I’m gonna go see what the boys are up to.” He got up quickly and left.

I giggled and Tiffany came back and sat next to me.

“What are you girls so happy about.” she eyed the 3 of us. I shot the other 2 a glare, and they knew that they shouldn’t show her the pictures.

“Nothing!~” we all chorused at the same time.

“Ok...” she dragged as the smell of food flared through our nostrils. Two flight attendants came in from the back, pulling a cart. One asked me what I wanted to eat from the choices she listed and the other asked me what I wanted to drink. A few seconds later, a tray with Korean side dishes a bowl of rice were placed in front of my with a can of Sprite along with it. I smiled as I peeled off the foil and started to dig in. I finished after 10 minutes and threw all my trash on the tray. Patting my stomach in satisfaction, the flight attendant came to collect my tray and walked away as she nodded. The girls went back to their seat as they finished and Luhan came back. The blanket was still in my lap and I pulled out my laptop. I found out that there was free wifi on the plane and decided to not let it waste. I started watching 'To the Beautiful You' and Luhan took interest. I gave him my other earbud and we watched together. After two episodes, we were crying and the was coming soon.

"Ladies and gentleman, we are about to land. Please stow your seat and tray tables and power off all of your electronics." A flight attendant came on the intercom.

"Aww are you serious?" Luhan almost shouted, tissues in his hands wiping his tears.

"Oppa we can finish another time." I said wiping my tears and putting away my laptop after turning it off.

I opened the window and saw the beautiful view of Seoul. It was absolutely amazing, finally being able to see where part of me was from. The plane came in contact with the ground and we landed safely in the airport. We started packing all of our stuff and I went to go change into something more suitable, since I changed into sweatpants midway during the trip. I grabbed my bag and pulled out a skirt and a nice blouse and went to go change in the bathroom. I came out a couple minutes later and pulled out my flats, throwing my clothes and shoes in my luggage case then zipping it up. I put a few more eyes drops to moisturizer my eyes and then I walked to the front of the plane, sitting next to Angel.

"You look so tired." She laughed at me.

"Who wouldn't after a 10 hour plane ride?!"

"Let me fix you up a bit." She pulled out her makeup back from her purse and dabbed a bit of cream and foundation to cover my black eye bags and put on some mascara. I slipped in my contacts again before we got out of the plane and I put on my sunglasses. Luhan ran up to catch up with me and we walked together. After going down the long empty hallway, the fans could be heard clearly outside the glass door.

"Ready?" Luhan squeezed my hand as we approached the sliding doors, blocking the view of the fans that came to greet EXO.

"More than ready." I sighed as he let go of my hand and the doors opened, revealing the thousands of people screaming.

Security managed to create a path for us to get through and we finally got outside. When we stepped out, there were 6 different sports cars parked out front. We all split up and Luhan dragged me to the red sports car and took my luggage. I got in the passenger seat as he put the luggage in the back and got into the driver's seat. One by one, the cars peeled off the sidewalk and we sped towards the SM building. After a few minutes, we arrived and there was another mob of fans, but there was a clear path for us. The 18 of us got out and were quickly rushed into the building. We finally went our ways as the EXO boys went to go practice and we went to go meet Mr. Lee.

Hmmm for your name.... I just wanna point out that you are drop dead gorgeous, and that you wouldn't really look like someone with a name that starts with 'dor-'. You look more like a Jennifer, or something similar, but, I don't want you to think this is what you would change your name to. I just wanna give you my opinion on what names would suit you well. ^_^
