Ironic, Isn't It?

This Is What Fate Gives You

*Sandeul's POV*

It's becoming a habit. A very painful habit. Going to class every single day either to see Miyeon there or not. Whether or not she's there, I go straight to my seat and put my head down until class starts.  We don't speak to each other let alone look at each other. If the teacher is passing papers, she would extend her arm back but not look at me. I wish I could say that I'm getting used to it, but I'm not. It hurts with each passing day, and with every day, I'm hoping she would turn around with that bright, happy smile of hers. But it never happen. Not after I pushed her away like that.

The bell rang for break and while I was putting my books away in my bag, I could see Miyeon leaving the classroom from the corner of my eye. I sighed and closed the clasps. At that moment I saw Chunji and L.Joe walking up to me. Chunji took a seat at the desk to my right while L.Joe sat in front of him.

They both smiled at me and I forced a smile back. It must be awkward for them. They're friends with both Miyeon and I, and now that we're fighting, they've been going back and forth between us or not even hang out with either one of us at all.

"How'd you do on the test?" Chunji asked, trying to get a conversation going.

"Why are you even asking that?" L.Joe interrupted. "You already know that he aced it."

Chunji looked away with that expression that considered L.Joe's statement.

I laughed. "Well I wouldn't say that I aced it but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get an A."

L.Joe rolled his eyes. "He aced it."

I sighed. "I hope I aced it. If my ranking drops this semester--"

"Your father is going to have your head." Chunji finished off my sentence. I looked at him surprised. "You always tell that to us." he says with a laugh. "All the time during exams and when the results come out, you stress out. Saying 'My father is going to have my head if I don't pass. If I'm below the top 3, he'll have my head!'"

"Does he really mean that?" asked L.Joe.

I shrugged. "He told me that when I was just eight. I was little and his words seemed quite believable at the time. I'm not sure if he was just joking or really threatening to cut off my head."

"He kinda reminds me of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland," says L.Joe. "When something displeases her, 'OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!'" L.Joe reinacted the Queen's dramatic line while speaking over dramatically.

"See, this is why I don't want you to join the theater club. You can't act. You can't even say one line properly," said Chunji.

L.Joe looked offended. "I'll have you know that I was chosen to be their male lead in their short drama video," he said proudly.

I raised a brow. "All you did was run. Not to mention you tripped. Ten times."

"Just accept the fact that you were the only one available at the time," said Chunji who was trying to comfort his friend.

"To be honest, if Chunji's ankle wasn't sprained at the time, he could have been the lead." I said. "You did really good in the theater club's other video."

"He played a cheater!" L.Joe pointed out.

"It's called acting!" Chunji stuck out his tongue. L.Joe scrunched up his nose and stuck his tongue out too.

I shook my head. These two were always childish. I felt my phone vibrate and when I pulled it out of my pocket, I saw that I received a new message.

You said you had something to tell me?

Let's meet at the rooftop?

I pursed my lips. I had texted Wooyoung earlier this morning that I was going to talk to him during lunch. I got up while Chunji and L.Joe were having a staring contest. Chunji looked away and L.Joe jumped up from his seat in happiness. "HAH! I win!"

Chunji ignored him. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to meet a friend," I said.

"You have other friends besides us?" L.Joe asked.

I shot him a look. "And what is that suppose to mean?"

"Nothing." L.Joe quickly said and turned away.

Chunji rolled his eyes at his best friend. "Well okae then. Bye. Make sure you eat because you're getting skinnier than you already are."

I smiled. "Yes, yes eomma."

We both laughed while L.Joe was checking his pockets for money. I waved goodbye and ignored L.Joe question for money. As I was leaving the classroom and I almost bumped into someone. I looked up and I wasn't too surprised to see him.

"You wanted to tak?" Jinyoung said. I also asked if Jinyoung can come and talk with me and Wooyoung. He was a part of this situation just as much as me and Wooyoung. He deserved to know.

We headed up the stiars that led to the rooftop and just like Wooyoung promised, he was waiting there. He was leaning against the ledge, eating a sandwich with a bottle iced tea besides him. I walked over and took a seatnext to him. He smiled as he saw me and then looked at Jinyoung.

"I guess I forgot to mention that my friend is joinging us. Is that alright?" I asked.

Wooyoung kept quiet and looked inside a plastic bag that was sitting on his lap. "If I had known you were bringing a friend, I would have bought an extra sandwich and drink."

"It's alright," Jinyoung said as he sat down in front of us. "I'm not hungry."

Wooyoung passed me the plastic bag and inside it was an identical looking sandwich and drink to his own. I didn't argue as I unwrapped the sandwich. I hadn't realized how hungry I was. I've been skipping breakfast and dinner whenever my father was present. Which has been a lot. I don't know why he's been staying home lately. It bugs me and makes me lose my appetite. Before I knew it, I was finished with my sandwich and drinking the ice tea to clear my throat.

"Careful, you might choke at the rate your're eating," Wooyoung advised.

I drank about half of the tea and coughed. I put back the cap and set it besides me. I stared at the sky while Wooyoung finished his sandwich. When he was finished, I asked "So, do you want me to tell you everything?"

Wooyoung thought about it. "Sure, but first I think we need to introduce ourselves." He smiled at Jinyoung. "My name is Jang Wooyoung."

"I'm Jung Jinyoung. I'm a new student here."

"Ahh, so you're the new student I've heard about." Jinyoung nodded and Wooyoung asked me a question. "I don't want to sound rude, but why is he here?"

I looked at Jinyoung then back to Wooyoung. "He's Jung Jaemin's son."

At the sound of the name, Wooyoung understood and leaned back. He didn't need any more explanation. All of us are connected in a way.

I sighed and told them. I told them about the conversation with my father and Wooyoung's father that I overheard. I told him everything. The two listened well. They didn't interupt me as I was talking and began asking questions once I was finished.

"I knew that all our fathers had a bad relationship but I never understood why," Jinyoung said. "I never expected them to bet best friends before."

"It's a tragedy that their friendship ended in betrayal," Wooyoung said.

I nodded. It's almost hard for me to believe it either. My father hated Jaemin and Ga Eun with such intensity that it scared me. I would have never thought they were best friends.

"In a way, I can understand you father Sandeul," Jinyoung said. My head shot up and I looked at him confused.

"The feeling of betrayal from your best friends, it hurts. Especially when it's the type of friends you thought you can count on. The ones you thought that will always have your back no matter what. The ones you could trust. And then they betray you." Jinyoung was staring at the concrete ground. "I know how it feels like to been betrayed by my best friends. I was betrayed by the people who were close to me and I wanted to forget it all. My mom was offered a job here in Seoul and with my pursuasion, she took it. I wanted to get as faraway from my old school as possible. I wanted to forget my pass." He was quiet before talking again. "But the betrayal by my friends didn't make me bitter."

"It must depend on the person," Wooyoung said. "You wanted to forget. On the other hand, Sandeul's father didn't want to forget. He remembered it every single day and it drove him to the point of being mad. No offence."

"None taken," I quickly replied. "It made him cold and bitter and because of that, he couldn't let himself trust another person." Adding to Wooyoung's statement.

"But what are we going to do about the school?" Jinyoung asked. "The school is getting better. The staff and hotel owners are suppose to have a meeting about this."

"There are a couple of people who want to end the illegal donations, but there are others who still want to continue," Wooyoung said. "They must have become greedy.

"My father is in charge of this now," I began, "he wants to put this to an end. He's a very powerful figure in the business industry and I doubt a lot of people will opose him. Still, they might have to vote on the situation."

"So are we going to sit back and wait and see what happens?" Wooyoung asked.

"I don't know if we can even do much." Jinyoung said. "My father was involved in this, but never told me."

"Even if they can stop this whole thing, the whole school staff will know. What if they rat them out awhile later?" Wooyoung wondered. "Everyone will still be in trouble."

I sighed. He's right. They public will find out sooner or later and it won't end on a happy note.

"When is the meeting?" Jinyoung asked.

"Next week Tuesday," I answered. "It was suppose to be yesterday actually, but the principal pushed the date back."

"The principal is a chicken," Wooyoung commented.

We all nodded and couldn't help but smile a little.

"Kinda funny how our fathers all hate each other, but here we are, on the rooftop talking and laughing," Jinyoung said.

"If my father were to find out about this, he'll have my head." I said.

We all laughed and I thought about the irony of it all. Three fathers who hate each other and betrayed each other, and their sons are laughing and getting along.

We heard the bell rang to signal that lunch has ended. We stood up and I threw my trash in the trashcan that was provided at the door. As we were going down, Wooyoung threw his arms on mine and Jinyoung's shoulders. "I have a feeling that we'll become very good friends."

I couldn't help but smile. And for that short moment, I actually felt happy.

The ending , idk I just got lazy -___- But I wanted to finish this chapter as soon as possible. It turned out longer than I expected so I had to make this scene have it's own chapter.

I don't know about the gif I used. I saw it and I thought it was just so cute~

Please ignore any spelling or grammar errors. I am too lazy to fix it.
