Lotus Blossom Love

Sooyun's P.O.V

I sighed. It was boring. So boring. WAY too boring. And it has only been 2 hours since they've left. I've already wandered around the house aimlessly a few times - not to mention pulling open anything and everything in sight just to see what's inside because I had nothing better to do. Nothing good was on TV now either. Just people talking about uninteresting things. Tsk, this is probably why people go to school during this time. Because it's SO boring and there's nothing better to do. Hmph!

Again, I wandered around the house and ended up at the kitchen. I just stood there in the middle of the room and stared around me. I just kept staring, and staring, and staring… until suddenly, I remembered what I heard earlier this morning and snapped my fingers. I smiled in excitement as a brilliant idea popped into my head. That's it! I'll do that!

While at school ~~~

Daehyun's P.O.V

I glanced outside in boredom from my usual spot beside the window at the back of the classroom with Youngjae to my right, as we waited for our teacher to arrive. Although it didn't rain, it seemed rather gloomy outside - which was strange seeing how bright and sunny it was this morning as we left the house.

My attention, as well as everybody else's, was turned to the front of the room as the door slid open with a loud 'BANG!'. In walked not our usual kind History teacher Mrs. Jang, but a ferocious-looking middle-aged man.

"Your usual teacher, Mrs. Jang, has called in sick today. I, Mr. Kim, will be your substitute for today." The class started murmuring loudly as Mr. Kim glared at us in fury and slammed a textbook on the table. "SILENCE!" he roared.

Immediately, we all sat up straight and stared at him nervously. "As I am your teacher for today's lesson, you will all follow MY rules!" he hissed. "From the looks of it, you lot are a useless bunch. Let's see if you can prove yourselves otherwise with a test then, shall we?" He grinned at us maliciously as we all gulped. Even Youngjae shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

Holy… what is going to happen to us now?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lunchtime came, as the guys and I sat at a random table to the side of the cafeteria. The others had a mostly uneventful day so far - whilst Youngjae and I… ours was totally different.
"That Mr. Kim... is a nightmare... a total walking hellhole..." I groaned.
"Who's Mr. Kim?" Zelo asked while eating, which resulted in him accidentally spitting food in Yonguk's face - who was unfortunately seated opposite - when he pronounced the 'K' in 'Kim', ultimately earning himself a slap in the head from his hyung.
"He was our substitute History teacher for today..." Youngjae replied with his shoulders sagging in exhaustion. "The absolute worst teacher in history - he's like Hitler. Never seen him before today either... maybe came from some dictatorship camp or detention centre from the looks of it."
Jongup widened his eyes in great surprise. "A teacher actually managed to make Youngjae-hyung like this? An actual real teacher?" He gasped. "Oh God, this Kim guy must be a monster!"
"Oh god, this Kim guy must be related to Himchan!" Yongguk joked. "They even have the same surnames! Bwahahaha!" Realizing this, we all burst into laughter.
"Hey, what the hell Yongguk!" Himchan protested. "You all know very well that members of my family - and especially I - are lovely, wonderful, caring people who are loved by everyone."
We all muttered a few words in response, which included things like 'Sure, sure', 'Whatever you say, Dictator Kim', and 'Your family may be, but I'm not too sure about you...'
But all jokes aside, that Mr. Kim was a total !@$-@!!##... Yeah, use your imagination as to what word I used there to describe him. That test he gave us - which he claimed was for us to prove ourselves - was a total crock. Every single question on that test of his contained content we had never been taught or even come across before. Not surprisingly, the majority of the class failed. Or should I say, only Youngjae passed, with 63%.
"Woah... I know it's considered a high score in this case, but... Youngjae-hyung got a 63 percent..." Zelo squeaked, after hearing our recount of today.
"Youngjae-hyung has never gotten anything lower than a 90 before..." Jongup continued.
Youngjae sighed weakly. "Hey, the test included content which won't even be covered until late in semester two! There's only so much I can be ahead in!"
With that, I could see that the guys were torn between whether to feel impressed with Youngjae for being able to pass that nightmare of a test, or to feel disgusted with that Mr. Kim for his low actions.
"When the class was impressed with Youngjae's result and even started clapping for him, that crazy guy instantly shot him down, saying things like 'Only one student passed, and even then it was only a 63?' and 'Even the class's Brain could only score in the low 60s? Pathetic!'" I added in anger.
"He even had the nerve to insult Mrs. Jang, saying that our piteous results were probably caused by her pathetic attempt she calls 'teaching'. But it's only the second day of school!" Youngjae continued.
By now, the other guys were seething in anger and hatred - all of them having not even met the Kim guy.
Yongguk-hyung's Warrior from within must have been brought out by his wrath, as he managed to hiss through gritted teeth, "Should we permanently dispose of this pest?"
We all knew what he meant and got a little bit worried, as I immediately objected. "No, Hyung, I don't think it's necessary to that level..."
"Yeah. If you get thrown into jail you'll disappoint your parents. And I don't think we'll be rich enough to bail you outta there either." Himchan-hyung joked.
Our conversation was cut short by the shuffling of feet approaching our table. We all looked up to see a group of shy sophomore girls. They handed us a big box of decorated candies. "Oppas, we prepared these specially for you. Please accept it!" one of them squeaked. We accepted the gift politely, to which they gasped, blushed, then squealed before skipping away giddily.
I groaned in annoyance. "We came to this school to avoid Queenkas, Kingkas, becoming Kingkas, and squealing fangirls... So would someone please explain to me as to why we still have to deal with these girls? "
"Because we're too amazing and good-looking," Himchan-hyung replied vainly. He struck a pose which made us all cringe and gag. "We attract attention wherever we go."
The box of candies was already opened, as the two maknaes were already munching on the sweets. I shook my head. Typical sweet-toothed maknaes…… HOW DARE THEY START EATING WITHOUT ME?!
With that, I pushed their hands away - to which they protested with a "Hey! What was that, Hyung?!" - and proceeded to hog the best candies. The others just laughed at us and grabbed a few candies as well.
Soon enough, the bell rang to signal the end of schooling hours and I headed off to my locker. The other female students must have gained confidence after seeing us accept the gift during lunch at the cafeteria, as my locker was crowded with a big group of girls. I was contemplating on quietly leaving without going to my locker, but inwardly groaned when they turned their heads and smiled when they saw me.
When I reached them, they were still barricading my way to my locker. "Excuse me, may I please get to my locker?" I asked politely. They immediately shuffled out of the way, and watched as I put my stuff into my bag. As I shut the door close and locked it, about to leave, a shaky, timid voice called out.
"D-daehyun O-oppa… Umm… w-we were won-d-dering w-whether you had t-time today. W-we'd l-love for y-yo-u to c-come k-kara-oke w-with us!"
I turned to look at them, uninterested. The girls held their breaths and looked back at me expectantly. "Sorry, I'm busy." With that, I turned and left.
Meeting up with the others at the front gate, I saw that they looked a bit worn out. "The girls got you guys too, huh?" I asked.
They nodded glumly.
"They've never acted this way before. Since this school is meant to be different and all…" Jongup let out.
"The seniors are especially scary…" Zelo whimpered.
"Crap! It's like back to junior high again!" Yongguk groaned.
"One girl even grabbed my blazer and tried to yank me back when I tried to leave!" Himchan stressed.
"At this rate, we'll become Kingkas even at this school…" Youngjae grumbled.
I sighed and held my hand to my eyes in frustration. "I don't want another stupid worshipping club forming."
We heard a rumble of feet running towards us and looked up to see a group of girls approaching us at the speed of light. Our faces paled, as we immediately ran away for dear life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We all let out a sigh simultaneously, as we finally to my street, heading towards my residence.

"Man, today was hectic." We all nodded in agreement with Youngjae.

A fire truck drove past us, coming from the direction of my house. I instantly became worried, as I remembered Sooyun was at home alone all this time. "God, please tell me nothing else happened…" I muttered, as I quickened my steps. The others must have thought the same thing, as they also hurried along.

Stepping into the front lawn of my property, I was relieved to see the house was still intact. "Good to know." I fumbled for my keys and opened the front door to be welcomed by a wonderful aroma of food.

"Ooh! Did Sooyun-noona make food again?! Me want!" Again, Zelo bounded off with Jongup hot on his heels, both yelling out her name in excitement.

Of course, the rest of us also wanted to know what she was up to and made our way hastily to the kitchen.

"Welcome home Yongguk-oppa, Himchan-oppa, Youngjae-jae, Jonguppie, Junhongie, Daehyun!" Sooyun greeted  cheerily.

I frowned upon hearing her greeting. She calls the others either 'Oppa' or  familiarly, whilst I'm just 'Daehyun'? I quickly shook those thoughts away and smiled when she decided to grab me by the arm and dragged me to the table to sit. "Everybody, come eat! I spent the whole day making food for you all!"

Indeed, the whole table was impressively filled with dishes of all types and sizes. Korean food, Chinese food, Japanese food - each looked like it was cut out of a cooking magazine. I wasn't sure whether it was due to my imagination or the fact that the food was made by an angel, but the whole table seemed to gleam in a holy manner.

"WAH!" the guys gasped. "You're amazing, Sooyunnie!" Before they ate the food and ruined the view, everybody took out their phones and took snapshots of the masterpiece laid out on the table. Sooyun laughed out loud brightly.

"Hahaha, come on, let's all eat the food before it gets cold!" In a flash, we took our seats and started digging into the feast.

"Sooyunnie, HOW ARE YOU SO GOOD AT COOKING! You're even better than me!" Himchan proclaimed.

Zelo swallowed what was in his mouth and held up two thumbs. "Noona, your cooking is DAEBAK!" He then proceeded to stuff his face with food, whilst the others took their turns in praising her.

"Sooyun." She turned to smile at me. "Your food, it's amazing," I smiled at her.

Suddenly, she flashed me that breathtaking smile she gave me when we first met yesterday. "Thank you, Daehyunnie!"

I was taken aback by how genuinely grateful she was with my praise, as my heart skipped a beat and I could feel blood rush up to my face. I quickly grabbed food and stuffed my face before anyone else could notice…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Gah, I'm so full. But man, was that good." Yongguk gave Sooyun a thumbs up. "You have some amazing skills there."
Leaning back in our seats, we rubbed our over-stuffed tummies. I can't believe we actually managed to eat most of that. And there was so much too… We are definitely monsters. Or aliens. Whatever you want to call us.
Glancing out the window, I noticed it was starting to get dark outside.
"Ah, I forgot to take the laundry in."
Walking outside slowly (I couldn't exactly move quickly with this full stomach), I unpegged the laundry hanging from the clothes-line and threw it into the clothes basket. As I picked it up and was about to go back inside, I noticed a big, round circle of black, charred grass. I stared at it in wonder. How did that get there? Suddenly, the image of the fire truck driving past us flashed in my mind, as I gasped in realization.
Charging inside, I went straight to the living room. The guys were lazing around on the ground and sofas, playing video games and the such, but there was no sight of Sooyun.
"Where's Sooyun?" I demanded.
Youngjae shrugged. "In the kitchen, I think."
As soon as I turned around, something was shoved in front of my face. It was a large cookies-and-cream cheesecake.
"Ta-dah! I wasn't too sure whether you guys liked cheesecake or not, but I made dessert!" Sooyun announced.
At the sight of the cheesecake - my favourite food of all time - I became dazed for a moment before remembering what I was meant to say.
"Sooyun, did you burn something before?"
Her eyes widened as she looked at me. "Uh, n-no. Why might y-you ask that?" she stuttered.
I realized I was actually glaring hard at her and softened my gaze. "I saw a patch of burnt grass out the back."
There was silence as Sooyun dropped my gaze and sheepily answered, "Ok, yeah, sorry. I accidentally left the beef patties cooking for too long, and I didn't know how, but they caught on fire! So I panicked because this has never happened to me before in heaven, so I ran outside with the pan and threw it onto the grass! But then the grass started to catch on fire, and soon a huge blaze erupted from the spark! And then, and then, and then I heard some whirring sounds as people wearing these beige-yellow coloured suits came and put out the fire! Not long after, you guys came home…"
We all stared and gaped at her as our minds processed the information she just gave us.
Then Himchan burst out laughing. "Hahahaha! Sooyunnie, you're so cute! Don't look so scared, Daehyun won't get angry, right?"
I nodded at Sooyun and said, "It's ok. Relax." She finally lifted her head and smiled at us.
"Hehe, okay."
Jongup stepped forward. "Noona, you didn't get hurt, did you?"
Zelo sprang up and hugged Sooyun. "Nooo! Noona, don't get hurt!"
"Hahaha, nope. I'm all fine and unscathed," she reassured, as we all relaxed. She held the cheesecake up again. "Let's cut this!"
She left the cheesecake on the living room table, which the other guys crowded to admire, and went to get plates and cutlery from the kitchen. I followed her in to help. There was something I was meaning to ask.
"What were the beef patties meant to be for?"
Sooyun blinked at me cluelessly.
"The ones that got burnt." I chuckled.
"Oh, ahaha," she laughed in realization. "Well, earlier this morning I peeked into your room to see whether you were awake or not." I gasped. What?! She went into my room? "I saw that you were still sleeping and was about to leave, but then I heard you say 'I lu-buu chee-ji-burger!'. So then I wanted to make cheeseburgers for you since they were your favourite. You were even dreaming about them."
Again, I gaped at her.
"But then I burnt it and didn't know what to do… so I looked in the cookbook and found something else with cheese… Cheesecake…"
At that, I couldn't help but to laugh out loud.
"Yah, Jung Daehyun, don't laugh at my misfortune!" she pouted. I noticed she always called me by my full name whenever she was annoyed.
My laugh trickled down to a chuckle. "Ah, silly girl. It's not me who loves cheeseburgers."
"But I heard you say it," she reasoned.
"In my sleep, you did. But it was just something funny Himchan-hyung said, so I was probably making fun of him or something."
"Oh… I see." Then she laughed. "Hahaha, silly me!"
I chuckled again. "But," I added, "you DID end up making my favourite food."
She brightened up happily. "Really?! What was it?"
"Cheesecake." I simply answered. "My favourite food of all time. Can't live without it."
She looked really surprised, but then recovered from it and reverted back to her usual self. "Wah, my amazingness exceeds even my own expectations."
I rolled my eyes at her. "Yes, yes, your food is magnificent. That's all I'll give you."
"Hey," she shrugged, "magnificent food comes from a magnificent person."
I narrowed my eyes at her playfully. "Are all angels as vain as you are?"
"It's because I have reason to." She smiled at me, and I couldn't help but to also break into one. This girl is all smiles, seriously.
We were interrupted by Zelo's voice yelling from the living room. "Noona! The Hyungs are picking at the cheesecake already!"
Quickly, we grabbed the plates and cutlery and left the kitchen as Sooyun let out a laugh of tinkling bells.
