chapter fortyeight 

 luna's signal

Luna stared at the dress that was laid out on her bed. Her eyes took in the red that was flashing at her. She didn't now what was worse. The fact that Amber was taking her to an uninvited party or that was going to wear a very vibrant color.

'Pick you up at 8' Luna read the text over and over again. There was no smiley face, but Luna wasn't surprised. Amber has been hurt too much to show any emotion and guilt was swallowing her up. 

She quickly stepped in her dress and tried to zip it up, but unfortunately, she couldn't reach the zipper. Her face flushed red as Amber stepped in her room and examined what she was doing.

"Need help?" She asked. Luna bit her lip and quickly pointed at her back. She felt the heat of Amber's hands as she zipped up her dress. It was all getting too much for her. She felt nervous, and that wasn't right. She was comfortable around Amber, not jittery.

Amber didn't say anything else as she walked out towards her car. Luna quickly followed and sat in the back seat. To say that that drive was an awkward one would be an understatement. She could see that Amber was trying to put up that wall she had up when they first met, and it pained to know that she was doing so.  

Loud music could be heard as Amber's car approached the destination. Amber sighed and stopped her car. Luna waited for Amber to tell her to be safe and not drink, but she just sat there silently, waiting for Luna to get out.

It didn't take long before Luna ran out of the car to escape the tense atmosphere she was entrapped in. She was running but she didn't know where to. She looked around at all the kids from her school who were drinking and she cringed. Luna paused her thoughts when she was near the group of jocks.

They were all in a circle with a few other girls and a bottle in the middle. The bottle was spinning at the pace of her heart, which wasn't very slowly. It stopped and pointed at a cheerleader, Yoona. As the bottle spun again to see who Yoona would kiss, Luna felt the blood in her veins going out of control. She knew she should turn around and not look, but she couldn't help herself. Her fingers were crossed and her breath hitched. The bottle stopped at a person she was hoping it wouldn't land on.

She felt her head spinning as she grabbed a red solo cup filled with booze.
