chapter twentythree 

 victoria's trust

"So, I was thinking..." Hyoyeon trailed off and looked at Victoria. "Is something the matter, Vic?" Victoria's head immediately snapped up.She shook her head and continued to gaze at the ground

"That scene the other day probably threw her off." Tiffany smiled her eye smile. Victoria shifted on her sofa.

"That was quite a scene." Taeyeon agreed and nudged Sooyoung. They all bursted out laughing except for Victoria.

"Don't worry, I'm sure nobody noticed. It was just that stupid wannabe football player's fault. A true jock would've caught that ball." Yuri said and patted Victoria's arm. Victoria glared at them.

"Please, don't talk that way about her." Victoria bit her lip and shuffled her feet on the carpet. Hyoyeon just blinked at her.

"Are you siding with her now?" Taeyeon's eyebrows raised. Seohyun looked at all her girls, making sure they don't start a fight.

"Don't worry about it. Vic's just going mad." Sunny giggled.

"It's not just her that's going crazy. All of her ex-friends are wackos." Yoona rolled her eyes. "Especially L.Joe's girlfriend."

"How did she do it? L.Joe is hard to get!" Jessica furrowed her eyebrows. Victoria felt a pang wacking her.

"Luna. Her name's Luna." Victoria quietly said.  Taeyeon stood up and walked into the kitchen. Hyoyeon followed her.

"We're getting a sip of water." Taeyeon said without looking back.

Victoria suddenly felt strange. As if she was in a room full of people she didn't know, strangers. She was the odd one out. For the past two years, when they talked about her ex-friends badly like this, she didn't care. But now, a switch in her had gone off. She didn't like it anymore. Not at all. Maybe it was the fact that her and her friends are back together, or not. But it was definitely a different feeling.

"Let's go shopping!" Seohyun jumped off the sofa. "We haven't been shopping since forever!"

"The most recent shop trip was two weeks ago." Jessica rolled her eyes. Taeyeon and Hyoyeon came back and they agreed to go shopping together.

"You know, you guys go ahead. I have a...book report due tomorrow." Victoria walked upstairs to her room.

"Suit yourself!" Sunny hollered and opened the front door.

"She's changing." Victoria hid and sat by the stairs and heard Yoona say.

"Her loser friends strike again!" Sooyoung cried out and they all laughed and left. Victoria's felt her heart sink.

She didn't want to get to the point where she would have to choose. New friends or old friends. It wouldn't matter would it? They're all friends either way. Her phone rang in her pocket. She took it out and tapped on the new text message.

You're out of your mind. I know your friends hate me. Victoria read Luna's message carefully.

And typed back, You know it's only because you hang out with their lovely jock.

Victoria decided to take a bath. Maybe it would help calm her mind.
