No longer locked inside
Unlocked Doors
Sulli was outside of Luna’s room. She was no longer locked inside, in Luna's room or her won. She felt a strange freedom.
The hallway felt lonely but there was a little black butterfly poised on the rails.
“Hi, there,” said Sulli. She bent forward to stare directly at the little creature. “I was a fool you know. I thought you always stayed with me until morning came, that you only held me while I slept. But you were always there…”
The butterfly flew around her in circles. Sulli closed her eyes. There was a loud exhale and she felt how the small insect materialized into the girl she loved. She stood just inches away behind her.
“I was confused. I still am. But for every part of me that wants you, there is another part that backs away…”
“Survival instincts?” offered Krystal, whispering by her ear.
Sulli grinned. “Maybe…" she inhaled the night air. "This could be the death of me…”
“Not exactly… but close enough.”
‘Right,” said Sulli. "You are immortal."
“Exactly... This decision is permanent Sulli. You will forever be bound to me for we will be one. An endless life shared by both.”
“An endless life a long life,” said Sulli turning around to see Krystal. “But I’m willing to try.”
Krystal half smiled. “We should then count the stars together.”
“Forever and ever,” said Sulli pressing her lips against Krystal’s. They kissed tenderly and fondly, just like if it was the first time. Krystal’s wounded heart was slowly mended and Sulli’s worried brain was quiet. They were happy.
But at the end of the hallway a door was slowly swung open.
