Chapter 26

Donghae

It’s been a week since we disbanded. All the members were busy doing their own things. I understand that they all have their own dream. It is too selfish to let them help me again.

Yoona open her store and I go there everyday to help her set up things. She decided to stay with me instead of going to her mother. I thought about that this will be our new life. Something quiet and warm just like normal people.

My fantasy didn’t last long. When I got there today, the store is ripped up. People were surrounding the store. There are paint and garbage everywhere. The glass on the windows shattered.

I rushed through the crowd and pushed people out of my way. Yoona is laying on the ground with wound on her body. I lifted her up. She showed me a smile and said, “You are early.”

Called the ambulance and get her to the hospital. People around us took out their phones and start to snap pictures and video as if I am an animal in the zoo.

They are amused by the drama.

The doctor cleaned the wound on Yoona’s face and arm. I sat down next to her the bruise on her hand.  “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I got use to it.” Yoona reply. “I should have learn martial art like Yuri.” She sighed feeling weak.

“Yoona. This is the end.” I stood up from the chair.

Her expression change with confusion. I inhale a deep breath. The word choked on my throat, but I force them out.

“Go to America. Leave me.” I didn’t look into her eyes.

“If is because I keep getting, I can go learn some self protecting skills.” Yoona grab my hand. I retreat from her.

I am getting in her way of what she wanted to become. If is better for her to leave me, then I will let go. Things are not going to die down. She is the one that keeps taking the pain.

“I want to stand on that stage.” I knew this is the only way she will leave without question.

“Liar.” She glanced at me. “I know what you are trying to do.”

I exhale and held her hand. “You keep getting hurt.” Before Yoona argue back, my phone rang.

Caller ID Heechul Hyung.

“Check the freaking TV!” He scream over the phone. I click on the channel he instructed. “They are starting to taking their anger on you.”

That whole channel is a continues news about Super Junior. They cut to the outside of the SM company, which is crowded with fans.

“There are people outside of you mother’s house. I am driving over to get your mother out. I think we have more haters than we think.” I heard Heechul hyung talking with short breath.

“There is a hidden camera at my own home yesterday.” He continues. “I am glad I found out before any footage is taken. Check with the other member and then come to me.”

He hang up after explaining all the chaos that is happening. Yoona is sitting in front of the TV listening to fan’s hateful comment at her and at Super Junior.  Her eyes looks died. I held her hand and explain that I have to go to my mother.

She nodded and followed me. When we got to my mother’s house, a huge crowd is outside. They are all calling for my name. There are fans and reporters. I told Yoona to stay put, while I go and calm the group.

I step out and run through the crowd. My mother is standing in front of the door with Heechul. “Please let my mother have some peace. Come at me when you have problem.” I said loudly and then clear a path for me.

“You have disappointed us. Donghae Oppa!” Some girl screamed and she throw a doll at me. The doll landed near my foot.

“Don’t you dare to step on that stage again!” Another voice shout. Things started to fly towards us. Heechul pull my mother back into the house. I stood there and let cardboard and cans hit me. All kind of words strike me like stones.

“You don’t fit to be an idol.”

“You ruin Super Junior.”

“Leave that .”

“Selfish.”

I kneel down on the floor. Then I heard camera snapping picture furiously. “Please, forgive me and let me live in peace. What have I done wrong to get this? All I have worked for is destroyed because I love someone?”

Yoona suddenly appear in front of the crowd. People around her started to recognize her. She didn’t look me in the eyes. She pick me up from the ground. Boldly, she kissed me right in front of those camera. I didn’t care and wrap my arm around her.

She smiled at me then with a very calm tone she said, “I will go. I will leave. Tell them to stop.” Then she let go of me.

That is the last word I heard from her. That day the crowd didn’t say word. They cleared a way for her as she walked away. When I chase after her, she had disappeared.

Everyday after that, I try to contact her. Yuri haven’t seen her in America too. Just like air she disappear overnight.

She disappear.

~Two month later~

Over the last two week, I try to search for Yoona everywhere. Fan’s protesting because less and less. I heard that is because an article by the famous anonymous writer that spread online. The hot topic that everyone is talking about. An article about idols and freedom.

I didn’t have the chance to look at it, but it seems like it had a big effect on fan’s violent respond. I put on my shirt and hat ready to head out. Yoona’s sudden vanishment scares me in the beginning. I thought about she got killed or suicide. But then it hit me that she is stronger than I think.

I know she loves me. So the last thing I need to do is wait for her to come back.

Before I head out I went through the mail, I flip to see if there is anything importable. A card slipped out from the pile when I picked up. I opened the card that had no name or address.

The card started with Dear Mr. Idol.

Dear Mr. Idol.

They said every destined couple are tied together by a red string. But is seems like the society had force us to cut the string. Don’t worry. I will come back and knot them back together.

I rush back into the house and opened my computer. Quickly, I searched for that article that had calm the fans.

As I expected, the title is named, “The Other Side of Your Superhero” by anonymous. It is the article she had work on. I read it over and the whole article is about how Yoona met us. How we changed her and how she realize there is something completely different in us from TV.

“I always chose the better route when it comes to life, but it seems like I will never stop loving him no matter how harsh is going to become. This is a message to Mr. Idol, my superhero.” This is the last sentence.
