Chapter 53
Running With WolvesShe followed Chanyeol and Sohyun down the long corridor, through the “Foyer” and under the archway that she had noticed earlier that morning. She was silent as Chanyeol rambled on about the dynamics of their home.
The corridor that Chanyeol’s bedroom was situated were known as the Dorms. While Chanyeol’s bedroom was on the first level along with the bedrooms that belonged to the members of the pack who went by the names, D.O, Sehun, Baekhyun, Kai, and Suho. Sunrin was told there were two other levels to the dorms.
“The bedrooms on the second level belong to the members of the other half of our pack. We don’t see them much but they occasionally visit. They’re not big on letting us know when they plan to visit so it’s usually a surprise.” Chanyeol explained.
Sohyun quickly piped up.
“The third level is the girl’s bedrooms. A level that became very boring and quiet since Eunji mated with Suho. She usually spends her nights in his bedroom now.”
Sunrin couldn’t help but feel slightly bad for Sohyun. She seemed genuinely down about being the only other female in the dorm with a level all to herself. It was clear she missed her friend.
“There are only two girl’s in this pack?” Sunrin found herself asking the two.
Chanyeol for some reason smirked as Sohyun started explaining.
“Werewolves of our kind are pretty much thriving because of the whole immortality thing. Our additional individual powers help us out a lot when we’re in human form as well. However, there is a big difference when it comes to gender within our kind. While our kind are many in numbers, the number of males out rank the number of females. We don’t know the exact statistics but it’s very obvious that there are a lot more males compared to females.”
Sunrin couldn’t help but feel shocked by this information.
“Which is why Suho, as well as the alphas of other packs, take protecting the female members of their packs very seriously. They are watched over and cared for well in their respective packs.” Chanyeol carried on explaining as Sohyun turned a corner and walked into what seemed to be a showroom kitchen and dining area. At least that’s what it looked like to Sunrin.
Marble tiles decorated the open plan kitchen that was filled with up to date appliances. Lights lit up the room with help from the sunlight coming from the carved intricate windows of the dining area that had the same marble flooring and walls that reached up high toward the ceiling.
In the middle of the dining area was a long mahogany table. It looked big enough for an army to sit at. The legs and surface of the table were carved with intricate patterns. A pattern that swirled into an image of many different wolves. Sunrin was mesmerised by the detail of the art work
It was then that she heard the sound of feet scurrying down a corridor along with muttering voices, voices that Sunrin could swear sounded like they were being spoken right into her ears. She unconsciously tugged on her right ear, a motion that didn’t go unnoticed by Chanyeol.
“Are you okay?” She heard Chanyeol ask which snatched Sunrin’s attention away from the noise that she could only imagine a stampede would make. She nodded her head as a reply before answering verbally.
“It’s just taking some getting used to. One second I can hear perfectly fine and the next second my sense feels like it’s working over time, it kind of feels like I’m getting a headache from all the noise.”
Chanyeol looked at Sunrin sympathetically, almost like he understood exactly what Sunrin was talking about.
“You’ll teach me to control it” Sunrin stated the sentence that she had heard a lot during the past few hours.
“I’m glad to know you're beginning to trust me.” Chanyeol flashed a grin at Sunrin who simply rolled her eyes.
“Baby steps.” She muttered when a girl entered the room. She looked slim and petite, much like Sohyun. Her light brown hair was swept up in a high ponytail. Her short bangs were neatly kept to the side. Her haz
