Winter Coincidence

Winter was absolutely freezing as . Laurel scurried into the train to save herself from turning into
ice outside.
A breath of relief escaped her lips as it was a lot warmer inside of the train but of course it was
crowded and there was nowhere to sit. And certainly no where to even stand.
Laurel squished herself in the crowd of people, standing next to a blonde man. The train had
gone and the force pushed her body towards the blonde male. She felt his hand wrap around
her waist to prevent her from falling.
Laurel knew it was normal so she lightly apologized and the man removed his hand off her
body. But another powerful stop had flung her body on to the “helping” man.
When she finally had enough, she turned around and stared at him.
A handsome pale guy had locked his eyes on her. Laurel was too choked to say anything for a
few seconds, but when she finally got her voice she said, “Excuse me good sir, but this is ual
harassment.”
The man laughed and smiled.
“I'm sorry ma’am. I didn't mean to touch you like that.”
She pouted and kept her eye on the man.
The doors soon closed and the train sped off, swinging her body. The man reached over to help
her. But was obviously too close.
She pried his hands off her and repeated herself, “Good sir this is ual harassment”
The handsome man smiled and nicely apologized once again.
Laurel knew how to stand in the middle without falling but she hasn't been on one since 3rd
grade… maybe the man is just trying to help.
“Ma’am, where are you going?”
Laurel looked up to see the man looking at her.
“Oh… I'm here to watch a ballet.”
“Oh really? At this theater?” The man joyfully grinned and pointed to a pamphlet.
Laurel nodded and pulled out her tickets.
“I was supposed to go with my sister, but she got sick and didn't want to get out of bed.” She
stopped, “Where are you going?”
“To the same theater.”
‘Oh. Is this man stalking me?!’ Laurel thought.
“No ma’am, I'm not trying to stalk you. I actually work there.” He laughed.
“Oh… I wasn't even thinking that!” Laurel shamefully denied.
It was another stop and for the third time, forcefully threw Laurel onto this strangers arms.
“My name is Jackson. Jackson Wang.”
Laurel looked at the nice looking man from 5 inches.
“I'm Laurel…” she looked down and saw the closed distance between her and Jackson.
Blushing because he was too close.
The lady sitting down with her bags finally stood up and left. Leaving two open seats.
Laurel lightly pushed the man away and sat down on one of the seats.
Jackson stood for a while until he swung himself down sillily on to the seat next to her.
Laurel looked at him and smiled, ‘This man didn't seem like a creep. He seemed more like a
little boy than anything.’
Jackson looked over to catch her staring, but she quickly turned away. From the comers of her
eyes she saw he slowly turn away and tried not to laugh.
As Jackson started up a conversation, the doors opened. He motioned to the door and Laurel
quickly stood up to run out. He followed and smiled.
It was almost time for the performance. Jackson walked with Laurel until they had gotten in front
of the theater.
Laurel laughed at the fifth joke Jackson had told her before he needed to leave.
“Wait. You said that we were going to go to the same theater. Why are you leaving?”
“I never said I was watching with you. But I'll see you later.” Jackson winked and sped off.
Laurel was dumbfounded. What did he mean?
She needed to enter the theater and get to her seat. It was about to start in ten minutes.
It was a breathtaking view as she entered the vintage theater. The walls were sophisticated and
marvelous. She was awed as she took a seat.
Laurel also took notice of the empty seats. But it was still crowded outside. She had rushed for
no reason, as everybody was not even there. Laurel pouted and remembered Jackson.
Was she really going to meet him again?
People started pouring in as the show was opening in 5 minutes.
A tall man pushed through the slit of the curtain and spoke, “Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a
few opening acts before the real show, I hope you enjoy them.”
The glamorous red curtains opened up to reveal a blonde male with a few other men. They had
started to perform. Dancing and singing like no other.
Laurel was particularly attracted, more pulled to this blonde male who was rapping.
Then it hit her, Jackson Wang from the train.
The performance ended and a few other acts came along before the real show was on. But al
Laurel thought about was how interesting the guy she had met at the train was.
The lights dimmed down as the show finally started. And a certain blonde male slipped into the
seat next to Laurel.
“So… how'd you like it?” He smiled as he watched Laurel jump up in surprise.
“Jackson, I didn't know you were performing” she smiled back at awe.
“Well… yeah. So, now you know I'm not some random guy, would you like to go out on a date
with me?”
Laurel looked over to the usually loud and confident man, looking down and embarrassed.
“It would be an honor.”
Jackson looked up and stole a kiss on the cheek, “Well okay! Let me get your phone number
then!”
She laughed at his silliness and passed him her phone but soon stopped as the people around
them had complained.
They had ended up walking outside as they ended up being loud again.
It was still freezing cold.
Jackson had noticed Laurel trying to warm up her hands so he intertwined his fingers with hers
and stuffed it in his pocket.
“I'll keep you warm.” Jackson avoided eye contact and flashed his kidlike
smile.
Laurel embarrassedly smiled and liked the warmth penetrating the snowy day.
“Can we go on that date now?” Jackson begged.
“But it's…” Laurel didn't want to protest against what Jackson had wanted, “sure. Where are we
off to?”
“There's a skating rink nearby!” Jackson nearly yelled and ran off as he dragged her close by.
When they got to the rink, they had noticed it was very beautifully decorated. A gigantic
Christmas tree in the middle and red stockings hanging from the sides.
“I haven't done this in a while” Laurel smiled and smoothly glided across the ice.
“Uh…” Jackson could not get a word out as he desperately hung on the sides.
Laurel laughed out loud seeing Jackson very much dying to keep his balance.
“I haven't done this in a while! How do you do that?” Jackson shouted as he watched Laurel do
some small tricks.
“I used to be a competitive skater!” She shouted over the loud noises.
Jackson was glad he took her to this beautiful ice rink. He watched her enjoy herself.
Laurel looked over to see Jackson staring at her. She skated over to him and grabbed him by
his hand.
“Let's go!” She cutely shouted dragging Jackson along.
“Wait! Wait! Where are we going?!” Jackson shouted.
“Just around!”
“Can we slow down?” Jackson whined to the fast girl.
“Nope!” She grinned at him.
Laurel went faster but as she went faster, she had lost control, avoiding to hit another person on
accident.
“Laurel!” She had let go of Jackson's hand before crashing into the wall. Jackson skated
towards her and picked her up.
“are you okay?!” Jackson pushed back her hair in order to see her face.
“ I am totally fine Jackson!” Laurel quickly stood up and dusted herself off.
Jackson pouted as he stared at a small cut on her lip.
Laurel looked up to see a slightly angry Jackson, “What's wrong?”
“Pabo.” Jackson flicked her forehead and watched her laugh.
“I'm sorry if I worried you. I'm used to it, really!” She assured. Laurel her lips and groaned
when she tasted blood on her tongue. Her hands immediately went for it.
But as she reached for her bloody lip, Jackson smacked her hands out of the way and cupped
her face, kissing her in an instant.
Laurel wanted to pull away in shock, but then she thought about it. She might actually like being
kissed by this man.
Laurel smiled into the kiss and kissed back.
The snow got harder as the two pulled away, grinning and chuckling at each other.
~~
“So… this is it?” Jackson looked down sadly as he walked Laurel out on her stop.
“Of course not silly. I'd really like another date with you.” She smiled and watched Jackson’s
face light up with joy.
“I'll text you, okay?” Jackson grinned.
“Okay!” Laurel managed to say before the doors closed. She watched the train speed off as the
loud noises filled her ears, she only thought of two things.
She thought of the blonde male, and how their weirdly they had met each other.
